I took these with the DA* 50-135mm. It would have been handy to have the 60-250mm, but I guess I'll have to ask Santa for that lens.

The more I see photos out of it, the more I want one. The DA* 60-250 must be a real gem.

I wonder what kind of image sequences we will start to see after the Panasonic and Olympus cameras start making there way to these events. I think they do 20 fps or more.

Ricoh GRII with viewfinder or other wide angle alternative?...

The GR series has an issue with Dust sneaking through the body onto the sensor. I rented a GR for a week and loved how sharp the images were. The colors were really nice too, sometimes I just rocked the jpegs. I really really didn't like the idea of needing to disassemble the camera to solve for issues with dust. Dust could be prevented with careful use, but in the end I went with X100 mark1.

The x100 mark1 has focusing issues when close to your subject and/or in low light. Focus by wire isn't fun either, but the body is nice, the lens is nice, and the colors are nice.

I prefer the compact size of the GR and the menu / manual focusing settings were amazing. I was able to shoot and adjust setting super fast. Really, the best menu system I have used in my opinion.

In the end, I lost a little on the wide end, but I have a view finder and I don't have to worry about dust.

I know the 18-50 is small when collapsed, but I still think the 20-40 is a better investment.

Just my opinion.

I love that about this lens. If you need to capture something quick that you wouldn't want fishy, you can snap to 17mm and save the day. I doubt there are many other lenses that have this feature.

A win for the forums!!! I am happy you found what you needed. It wouldn't be Pentax Forums if we all didn't get excited to talk lenses.

Be sure to post some photos you make with your new lenses!!!

I don't think I am as sure about this as you are. I am hopeful, but I wouldn't put any money on it. Pentax/Ricoh heard users bellyache for years about FF and it finally happened. I wouldn't put nails in the coffin is all I am saying.

Lens Suggestion...which to buy

If money isn't in the way, you may consider a lens combo...

16-85 and a 14mm 2.8. The 16-85 is noted for being a very very nice lens and the 14mm will take care of the night photography.

But if you want one lens, go with the 16-50. You can convert to screw drive if the motor fails ( How To: Convert SDM to ScrewDrive + Video - PentaxForums.com ).

Pentax Micro 4/3 cameras.

The last few years we have been spoiled with new this and that out of Pentax, and suddenly we are in a dry spell only receiving the KP. I am thinking something big is coming.

Last year, I was thinking it would be nice if the next Q replacement was a Pentax M4/3 camera sharing the same mount as Olympus and Panasonic. This would open revenue for the company for all M4/3 users, especially since Pentax makes some of the best glass in town. There is a lot of room in this market segment, and I have wondered if Pentax would jump in with both feet.

Time will tell, but the fact that we arn't seeing a lot doesn't mean something cool isn't brewing.

I have had it back for quite some time. Actually, I thought I updated this post... :(

I believe it took about 1 month to get my flash back. There wan't much in the way of communication but the work order receipt did tell me what they fixed. It wasn't very personal or detailed. Mostly the work slip says "Fixed, Cleaned, Working" and "Internal parts replaced".

The workmanship is top notch. My Flash came back looking and functioning like new. It was even cleaned inside and out.

The whole process was basically painless and the results are great. I can vouch for our Pentax repair service. My only wish is there was a bit more of a personal touch, maybe a representative to speak to me, or a more personal touch to the work slip. Other than this, I am very very happy with the service I received.

Thank you!

Gotta hand it to Pentax Limited Glass here. I don't push the sliders that much in post. I normally push the white slider up, black slider down, and play with exposure and shadows, and finally +1 to +5 in color vibrance.

The photo with my wife and baby, I did adjust the hue of green because it had a little bit of a distracting yellow tone.

Ok, sure sounds like a dud. I would contact SIGMA for repair service. Explain the situation and see if they can help you out with shipping. Otherwise, contact the seller and try to get a refund.

For most of us, we purchased lenses when we feel a struggle and through research realize a lens is the best way to deal with it. It sounds like you are in the beginning of your journey and probably haven't hit a wall with your current gear. If this is the case, then I want to sway you a bit.

Your 18-55 is great to learn on and take stunning images. You will outgrow it, but you need to out grow it.

You don't have a prime lens yet, which will teach you yet another way to look at photography. You can't simulate this experience, or even substitute it. You must buy one eventually.

I suggest you buy a 50mm or 35mm DA lens. If they are too costly, look for a SMC-M or SMC-A 50mm f1.7 lens. These lenses will help you grow and develop your eye. When you have gone through this process, replacing your 18-55 will be much easier. It won't be difficult to make your next purchase decision, you will know what you need next.

The Sigma has bee a solid performer for years now. I think the f3.5 version is the only new lens available. Also, it is quite a deal for what you are getting. If you have some extra cash, I would still consider the DA 12-24 over the 10-20 simply for the Pentax colors. Nothing wrong with Sigma, I just think Pentax has an edge.

I would go to Bulb mode, cycle through your available apertures and press and hold the shutter button. Be sure to look at the front of the lens to see the blades are stopped down. Pentax cameras use a lever to stop down the lens, this is a good test to make sure it can activate the lens lever.

You are very welcome! Enjoy the new life out of your lenses!

My 50-135 is already converted, and I just purchased a used 16-50 with a working SDM. While it works, I'll leave it unconverted. As soon as things change I'll take care of it.

Happy shooting!

I can see you purchased several lenses trying to address your various concerns. I had the same problem... And there is a reason there are so many offerings in this class of lens. Many people have their own personal needs, and these lenses try to address those.

In the end, you need to decide what is best for your shooting style.

For me, I like zooms so I use the 16-50, and the 10-17 Fisheye. I do have a 15mm limited for "non distorted" images. I made a personal decision a while back to buy only Pentax branded gear. I like the colors way more than the Sigma/Tamron lenses. Don't get me wrong, they look good, but I really like what I see in the Pentax glass.

K-5, K-5ii, K-5iis, K-3, K-3ii

You need a tough camera that can keep up with you. I think the K-5 and K-3 line will do nicely. And, you can buy one used with warranty these days, so that should help you feel more comfortable about knocking it around. Your 16-45 has a lot of love out there and I wouldn't try to talk you out of it. If you do find your self with some money after while, consider looking for a WR lens. The 18-55 WR is still a good lens, but I would steer you towards a 16-50, 20-40, or 16-85. Those lenses are fantastic and will give you an extra edge on your newer camera body.

I would double check the seals on all the openings/doors. Verify there isn't play in the power switch and mode dial. Then put two SD cards and do some test shots, verify you can read/write to both card slots. After that, I would make sure the camera activates the Aperture lever by manually stopping down a lens and watching the shutter fire and activate the aperture. Finally, test SR by shooting a 1/8 or so with around 50mm. That last one is very subjective and you may need to come up with a better test there.

Good luck and sounds wonderful you have a K-3!

Remember, on Pentax, we have an AF switch on the body, AND The Sigma / DA* lenses also have an AF switch on the lens.

If you are not getting lens motor movement at all, verify the switches are ON.

I really liked the styling of the K-30. I can't say I like the K-s2 / K-70 as much. This camera with the 18-135 always looked really nice to me.
