Question Improving Third Party Lens Review - miscellaneous lens search.

ok been through the misc primes and have standardised the Focal length / aperture box. The only variation that possibly exists is some starting with a space before the FL. Hopefully that doesn't matter.
A lot have auto sorted into focal length order and then aperture order, but quite a few aren't.
Things go really pear shaped after 200mm (24 comes after 200).
Hopefully just resetting the sort will do it.
Also an aberration of Mitakons at the top
There are 3 auxillary lens - I have entered "auxillary lens" in the focal length. Hopefully they sod off to the end.
And a bunch of "non pentax" lens some annoyingly without even a review.

Your "unknown" mount type option has restricted itself to Soligor . By doing a few searches I didn't need it in primes but it would be handy to have it in zooms.

Teleconverters aren't always horrible...

Back in the film days we were advised that teleconverters were more successful in close up situations rather than long focus. I don't know if there was any science to it or rather the gains outweighed the disadvantages.
Regarding your lovely cat portraits - I suspect they have lost a fraction of potential sharpness but have gained a lovely smooth background - and as far as I am concerned that is a net gain.
I suspect that my less sharp lenses seem to be a little more capable of an image with a 3D perception. I feel that you have achieved that here.

why apsc lenses are best for apsc cameras

Interesting comparison. On the basis that these tests are accurate and comparable then it would seem that apsc was an opportunity to make cheaper lenses and little else.
Here is the two test placed beside each other.

Part of what I have been doing is standardising the focal length and aperture line.
Once that is done they should sort accurately.
Working on it makes it clear that it is not a simple matter to get things right. For instance when we made the Soligor section by searching "Soligor" out of the "misc lenses" we ended up with 50 items in prime and zoom combined. But if (on the 3rd party home page) you search "soligor" you get about 80 hits. These 30 extra hits are in places like the Vivitar section where many lenses are also labelled Soligor. It is unclear how many of these are new models and how many are duplicates. But it means a few models are missing from the Soligor section. Because of this I don't think it is a great idea to create any more of the front page brands because this problem gets progressively worse.
What I have learnt is the 3rd party front page search searches the brands as well as "misc" but misc search is a subset restricted to itself.
And it is the misc search that is clunky for some reason. The other one is great.

Soligor primes shifted. I did a temporary solution to the missing mount type input area by copy pasting the old mount type (before shifting) into the end of the description so it is not lost.

Probably simpler to just save as raw and do the adjustments later in one go rather than having a variation in input colours.
Having said that - your input colour may be worthwhile to have a cast in it if you have a standard cast across all your slides. ie experiment a bit at the beginning.

Got one of each but I wouldn't use the copier because of its basi lens.
Regarding the tablet if you raise the slide above the tablet a cm or so the pixels will be oof.
You could have a range of colour temperature altered "whites" on the tablet to get you on the path of colour correcting.

No an extension tube would make it worse. If you look inside, the zoom function brings the simple lens in there closer to the camera for least magnification. Adding tubes will take it further away. So that lens is behaving exactly like a normal lens which focuses further away as it comes closer to the sensor. The relationship between the slide placement and the lens placement (the slide mount has to go further away as the lens get closer to the camera) is tuned and would not be simple to modify. I think you have to buy a K-1.
And if you are wondering I have an identical one sitting in front of me at the mo!.

Two little issues - both with mount type (buggy thing!)
Still got the issue with Soligor prime - when I edit/shift and submit the entire mount type section disappears and doesn't reappear in edit mode. If I persevere and shift lenses across we will lose information.

In editing misc area when I edit and no mount type has been entered it defaults to "KAF3 (AF lens only)" . Up till now this entry vanished when edit submitted but in this section it persists as in here. ENSINOR Macro 24mm F2.8 Lens Reviews - Miscellaneous Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database
What do I enter to keep mount type clear when I don't know.

Has anyone found any shortfalls with the Mdisc archival system.?
https://www.freevideoworkshop.com/what-is-an-m-disc/
I know we are going to have to wait a couple of hundred years to see if they are as good as they say, but they seem an awesome way to spread some archives around the family.

Do you want me to edit the titles in the global misc lens pool.?
And what is your ideal (screenshots)
Note it would be unusual to achieve the specs aligning vertically as in the vivitar shot.

Ahaa got it. I have never used that one - only the one in misc lenses.
I will keep at it - the misc search is needed for that but maybe not when it is sorted a bit.
Your "third party" front page lens search is a bit inconspicuous - maybe a box ?

That conflicts with what I asked in #5 ?
I gathered from that the misc lens search box accessed only the misc lens pool.

There is an example in Vivitar Vivitar P and B ( Soligor et al) 135mm 3.5 Preset T-mount Lens Reviews - Vivitar Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database
That is not represented in a soligor search in the misc search Miscellaneous Lenses for Pentax: Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Won't we get a lot more of these ?

I am wondering if there is a drawback to doing certain makes like Soligor this way.
Being a brand rather than a maker they often share a lens with other brands.
So shifting this one " Itoh Higon Kogaku ( Galaxy, soligor, Kaligar ) 400mm f6.3" to a Soligor page is going to deprive a search in the misc lens of "Kaligar" of that lens entry won't it?
Given that the name on the vanity ring of an owner's lens is often the basis of a search then we are going backwards.

OK just done the Chinon zooms. Simple enough.
I edited Title and focal length to a consistent state which involved moving things like "(macro)" from FL to title. Is that correct?
Sometimes the mount type shifted - behaviour seemed a little erratic?
And I gather capitalise the "f" for aperture?

This one I think
Iso invariance - PentaxForums.com
A prerequisite of Raw.
And the need to underexpose only by bringing Iso back means you will tend towards manual control of your settings.
It is still a fundamental core of my photographic technique.

I found when I scanned mine that colour was all over the place - varying from film roll to roll.
I had a bit of a play with your one here and as I thought simply colour temperature won't do it.
Colour balance in Gimp settled it down a bit.
Presumably the Earnslaw was white back then. And I guess the beautiful water can throw a cast on that white. So there are so many variables.
But in the end the colour is a little secondary to the historic and nostalgic values of an old family image.
Best to use raw and then you will get maximum colour control. Colour temp can be set in raw developer. Darktable has a negative film converter - can't remember what it does with the colour positives.
I use a sguare exterior light from M10. And mask down to action area. Camera is set on an old enlarger pedestal. Always manual exposure and adjust if needed. That is what digital preview is for!.
It is the dust specks that drive me nuts - at least with your positives they are black!
