I have more luck with kangaroo's eyes on overcast days or late in the day, bright overhead sunlight seems to cause deep shadows and the lifeless black eyes. Certainly not a problem with that tawny frogmouth.

She pretty good when she is clipped this short but when her coat has some length she only have to look at a bur and it is stuck to her coat. She's non-shedding so the work we save on picking up dog hair goes to brushing her coat.

It's a grey fantail. You do well to catch one sitting still.

When we first climbed to the top of the look out, the sky was fully grey and the light was very flat and uninspiring. There was some distant clear patches on the horizon so we waited hoping they would blow our way.

I'm fortunate to live very close to Mulligan's Flat and spend much of my lockdown exercise time in there.

Eastern bettong, normally nocturnal but this one was one and about in broad daylight. A closer look at the photos revealed it was blind in both eyes.

Swamp Wallaby. This one has an ear tag which means it's part of a trial of contraceptives designed to keep the population manageable by non-lethal means

Red-necked wallaby
