Yet, even though the question is put in the worst possible way 96% of voters still agree with it... It bodes well for November... ;)

At the time of writing there are about 3.3 million votes cast with 96% supporting Arizona's immigration law. So... Despite all the pontification of the politicians and other talking heads the people seem to understand what's going on...

Oldschool:

If, by activist, you mean they interpret the constitution as written and without doing a Clinton and asking what the meaning of "is" is then yes, they are activist. Probably because, like the majority of the US voters, they are getting fed up with people like Nesster "re-evaluating" the meaning of "welfare" to make the Constitution some kind of cheap, left wing manifesto.

Why shouldn't they? It's the Dems who have taken the rule of the USA to the courts "legislating from the bench"... So preventing them from "stacking" said bench is a fair move.

You are joking... Right??? I'm not sure I can believe you said that publicly.

A quick lesson:-

1. The "common defense" allows for the federal government to run a unified military against an enemy.

2. "Welfare" does not mean a welfare state it means "the good of".

No you can't. You couldn't even generate 59 votes with Lieberman siding with the Republicans. Don't blame Republicans for you not being able to keep your house in order. But that is Left Wingers for you... another example of them blaming anyone but themselves for their plight.

Nesster:

There's nothing socialist about the parts you show - you seem to be confused.

RML:

The law provides very well for the prevention of an area being "screwed up"... Try not cutting your lawn for a few weeks in many neighborhoods, if the association doesn't get you the local Code Enforcement Officer will.

The thing you are most worried about, big business using government to effect it's aims through such things as eminent domain only becomes more likely with your suggested solution to all your perceived problems, namely bigger government. As you expend the government you expand it's power. As you expand it's power the more attractive it is for business to "get into bed with it". What results is the unholy joining of business and politics. The solution, limit government's size and reduce it's power over the people. Simples.

The Supreme's decision, (which in itself is unconstitutional in it's nature IMO), revolved not around a corporation being able to make money but rather the local authority being able to increase tax revenues by seizing a homeowner's property where they only got the residential tax and effectively handing it to a corporation to develop the property and pay the local authority a commercial tax rate. Not only is that horribly open to abuse and corruption but it also flies in the face of the concept of private property which, in turn, detrimentally affects the concept of "liberty".

So you want to defy natural law and claim that everyone is equal?

Might I suggest that is naive, inaccurate and, since it flies in the face of the evidence that slaps you in the face every time you step out of your front door, (you do get out a bit, don't you?), quite fanciful to do so.

RML:

Yes I am... I believe that people are responsible for themselves and their own actions. I believe that no-one deserves to live at the expense of others. I believe that government is inherently corrupt and self serving and, as such, needs to have it's power minimized and it's influence restrained because only when government has excessive power and influence can it be used by corporations to further their own ends. If things like that makes me reprehensible then so be it.

Justin:

If you don't understand the principles of nationality then everything else is of no use discussing.

RML:

As usual you go off on some incomprehensible rant... It's quite simple. You want everyone to be equal and the same, no stereotypes, everyone paid the same, treated the same etc. I, on the other hand, see reality. People are not equal, (except in the eyes of the law). Some groups display tendencies that can serve to identify them - that's ok... No harm done. It's only the small minded that take offense to stereotypes anyway and, like everyone else, the small minded reap what they sow... ;)

White House: Republicans could win control of House

Link

QuoteQuote:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) Republicans could win control of the House of Representatives in elections in November, House spokesman Robert Gibbs acknowledged on Sunday.
"There is no doubt there are enough seats at play that could cause Republicans to gain control, there is no doubt about that," Gibbs told NBC's "Meet the Press" talk show when asked whether the Democrats would maintain their majority in the House.
All 435 seats in the House are up for grabs in the November 2 election as well as 36 of the 100 seats in the Senate.
President Barack Obama will have a tougher time pushing his political agenda through Congress if Republicans make big gains in November and wipe out Democratic majorities in both the Senate and the House.
In the run-up to the vote, Obama is trying to convince impatient Americans that his economic policies are working and that improvements will take time.
"We understand people are frustrated, everybody is frustrated," Gibbs said. "Look, the president is frustrated that we haven't seen greater recovery efforts, but that doesn't stop us from doing what we know is right, instituting the policies that we know will bring the country back," he added.
Obama and his fellow Democrats are grappling with a range of problems and many political analysts see the election as a national referendum on his policies.
The economy is struggling and unemployment has hovered at just below 10 percent. The war in Afghanistan is not going well. And the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has prompted criticism that Obama's response was slow, disorganized and too easy on BP Plc.
A Gallup poll released on July 7 showed that 38 percent of independent voters approve of the job Obama is doing, compared with 81 percent of Democratic voters and only 12 percent of Republicans. Obama's overall approval rating is 46 percent.
A year ago, Obama's approval rating among independents was 56 percent.

We salute the sinking ship as it slides into the Potomac... :D

So the stereotype that Asians tend to be more academically adept than other races is a bad thing then. Stereotypes aren't all bad... It's just you people on the left that have tried to make them that way.

Jeff:

Do you REALLY have no sense of humour???? See the little emoticon thingy... It's a person winking... It is there to imply a joke was just made in the absence of being able to see the expression on my face.

Justin:

It doesn't matter... But it does make a huge difference with regard to your previous point.

As to the "unfortunate belief". Stereotypes come out of existing patterns. If the Irish, (maybe of old but I think, maybe, you are just putting on airs and graces), hadn't demonstrated a propensity for booze then they wouldn't have got themselves a name for being boozers would they? It makes one wonder how they got stereotyped as stupid doesn't it? ;)

nice try, all you've proven is that the United States is based on a Socialist Constitution.

My, my... That's an astonishing leap... The entire constitution was set forth to limit government and it's power by enumerating the powers government has and denying them all others. The entire point of Socialism is to expand government and it's power. The fact that you can then make the leap you did shows that, for all your reading and quoting, you've lost the plot somewhere along the line.

So... The USA needs to be split into two halves...

Everyone who wants to work can go to one half and all the hangers-on can go to the other half...

Now we only need to debate whether it's north or south...
