Without special equipment, the quickest way to equalize temperature may be to put your camera into a plastic ziplock bag prior to entering the exhibit and press/suck out as much air as possible. Your wait time will depend on the temperature difference and air movement.

Arca Swiss plate for my KP

You'll have to put the plate perpendicular to the bottom, and it won't block the battery door.

Arca Swiss plate for my KP

I'd probably get a longish plate so that you can place the center of gravity over the tripod head. Something like the Breakthrough 85mm plate should work. It's $20 on Amazon.

You could also get a Telephoto Lens Support Bracket if you feel it's necessary

77m Filters, they ok?

That Sigma takes an 82mm filter and should be low profile. I have a CPL for mine, but due to weird results when using CPL at such wide angles, I would not do it again.

For you. For me and thousands that have bought the KP, it's fine. I also prefer the compact design and have had no problems managing battery life. Perhaps their target market is buyers more like me.

Thanks for posting. It's given me some things to think about re focal length aside from "making it fit."

I received the adapter today and can confirm that it works with the KP. Kudos to Ex Fin for pointing out that its Pentax equivalent works with the KP despite not being documented as such.

FWIW, I recently bought a ColorMunki Smile and used it to calibrate my laptop and two desktop monitors. It's all automated. My laptop was slightly adjusted, but my desktop monitors were adjusted noticeably. Now my laser printed and retail prints are much closer to what I saw in post processing. It was well worth the $90.

Sharpness of focus

I've used it and not only can it be less time consuming, but seems more logical/scientific. It accepts the reality that there is an adjustment range at which a camera will interpret something as "in focus" and sets the fine tune adjustment to the center of that range. The more common method (fastidious test setup, test shots, interpretation of each shot, guessed adjustment; repeat test shots, interpretation of each shot, guessed adjustment; repeat . . .) seems to rely on tireless testing with the hope of stumbling on a representative sample of the camera's AF tolerances to find the acceptable range of adjustment.

In summary the dot tune method is:
Set up AF Target and put Camera on tripod
Establish Critical focus in Live view. Exit LV when done
Switch to manual focus and set initial AF tune to 0
Cycle through AF tune values to find the range of AF
Set final AF tune to midpoint of range

No problem, it goes both ways. It's difficult to tell exactly the demeanor of what's written compared to seeing in person.

You misunderstood: I'm not criticizing, I speak from my own experience and I'm pretty certain that anyone that's ever held an SLR would not pass judgement on leaving the lens cap on. It was worse with manual viewfinder cameras, one could shoot a whole roll before realizing the lens cap was still on.

I bought the BolinUS 0.3mm LCD Optical 9H Hard Tempered 2 Pack Anti-scratch Glass Screen Protector for $8. It works fine. Best not to overthink this: it's only a screen protector.

The problem with aggressive polishing needed to remove a scratch is that you'll remove any anodizing in that area, resulting in an uneven finish as the unanodized area greys from oxidation.

Thanks, though it looks like I'd have to leave the battery door open, which is not possible with the camera on a tripod.

Thank you. Good to know it'll substitute. Weird that Ricoh lists a specific product for the KP when they already had a product that works. That probably explains why the K-AC167 is not available.

Just ordered this substitute HQRP AC Adapter for Pentax K-AC132 for $20.
Thanks again

Thanks, but I already have an Epson V600 that will do 4 slides at once. At 3200dpi, it takes at least 15 minutes of scanning. That's 9+ hours without time for placing and previewing slides, rescanning some slides after finding dust that was not visible in preview mode. Also, the 150+ slides in this batch were selected from appx 1000 that I've already reviewed with a side projector. I'm hoping to save time and get good results.

If it works well, I'll probably do the same with my father's slides from the 50's and 60's. I'll save time culling since I'll be able to review and copy at the same time using wifi commander on my laptop.
