Well, fungus seems to be on every layer of glass ! I'm going to take pictures of it, and ask for a return. Despite the fungus, the lens in itself is in very good condition, and rendering is good.

My current kit is from 17 to 200, quite fast because of what i tend to shoot (heavy kit)

Tamron 17-35/2,8-4
Panagor 28/2
Pentax DA 35/2.4
Pentax DA* 55/1.4
Pentax FA* 85/1.4
Tamron 70-200/2.8
With all the hoods necessary.

When weight is an issue (like in a Greenland expedition i did 2 years ago), the light kit is :
Tamron 17-35/2.8-4
Pentax DA* 55/1.4
Pentax K 75-150/4

Very light, but very capable kit. Not the fastest, but definitely something that allows great pictures.

You know the moto : if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't.

Film versus digital sales

indeed, but you take less pictures too.

Instant photos are like an object : the picture in itself isn't fully all it's about. You like the physical object as a reminder of moments.

With digital picture, you can snap a lot, and you look at it more about aestheticism, than the object (if you ever print it, btw).

I second that ! it's indeed a good lens ! it's so light (a dream !). the rendering is very consistant with nowadays Pentax lenses.
I almost regret of never using it extensively !

Pentax FA 28-105/3.2-4.5 AF IF.

A good lens overall, but i never use it : i always go for a prime instead, or the K 75-150/4 for the long end.

Since the 16-50, i have hard time finding any zoom that is close enough in rendering of the rest of my Pentax prime or zoom.

Just won the e(vil)Bay auction of an FA 85/1.4 for 361. Small spot on the glass explain the low price.

This latest acquisition helped me complet my "fast set" with a 28/2, 35/2.4, 55/1.4 and the 85/1.4.

To compensate room (but not bank balance) i will let go the FA 28-105 3.2-4.5.

May i encourage you to do a review of this lens in the Database ? It's very nice to have updated reviews of those old lenses on the K1.

Since the K1 everyone seems to look for this kind of review.

It would be very nice of you! Thanks you :)

I have the Tamron 70-200. I can confirme you that at 2.8 the lens is a tad soft, and at 3.5 the sharpness and contrast rise and it's really visible.
Most of the time i tend to use f3.5 or f3.2 instead of 2.8 if the extra 1/3 stop isn't vital to get the shot.

In the current process of de-acquisition :
- my dear K5II (you did good in Greenland <3 )
- 200mm f4 6x7 (no more 6x7 to use it)
- Kodak Instamatic 177x
- Agfalux flash
- Agfa Silette LK (i already have it from my grand parents, so no need to keep this one)
- Yashica Mat (pretty beat up, never really got used to 6x6)
- Olympus AZ 1 (cheap compact my parents used to use).

Thinking of buying an appartement, so i sell all the things that i don't want to have to pack in few months !

This lenses release is special : It's the same lens as before (opticaly) with some changes in the glass coating, probably due to an update in industrial process.

This kind of change is more or less the reason the K1 and K1-II existe. Ricoh should do it more often.

Unless you do "ultra-prints" (huge prints @600dpi), you'll never see big difference. Well, some people might (@Digitalis maybe ? ) with trained eyes. But the good news is most people who buy prints won't ever notice.

The colormunki is definitely better ! The spyder is really basic and offer a very simple color calibration. The munki also offer luminance calibration (important if you do web + various kind of prints).

Always depends on your own definition of nice, sharp, or contrasty enough. Which funnily evolve with time and experience !

I got myself a Datacolor Spyder5 (for a wooping 129€), which is screen calibration device. Why ? I'm going to do some prints on expensive and fancy (and huge) Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta 315 g, and though it would be a pity to fail to get what i want because of screen calibration.

The impossible lens club?!

thanks !

The main difficulty is that the mount is not visibly screwed to the rest of the lens.

Otherwise i would have done as usual : M42 to K adapter to replace the minolta mount.

EDIT : took a peak at the body and the mount is way too annoying to get : You have to unmount the back of the mount groupe. Dismantle all the aperture lever things (and those tricky little springs), to get to the mount. Mount that is like sandwich-ed between two piece of the mount bloc. Meaning you have to get an adapter, shimmed it to a small ring aroung the mount it self, create screw thread in it, then remount the whole thing.

I'm not equipped nor skilled to do this. Sad because this is a real keeper !

Hello everyone,

I've got a Minolta MC Tele Rokkor PF 100mm f2.5 that i'd like to convert.

Does anyone already done it ?

I haven't seen a post related to it, so i'm asking. But so far i don't think it has been done.
I'll have to find a way to shave 1mm somewhere !

This is really a great thing ! Only drawback : it's a one time use of the mechanisme (the piece that stop the blade is deformed to absorb the choc of the blade). Still a great idea !
