Your latest acquisition

Yesterday I've acquired something awesome! My 9 years old DA* 16-50 just came back from Precision Camera. They replaced the broken weather sealing and the SDM motor. I didn't think they would do so in such low pricing. Got both fixed for $212. Also it took them roughly 2 1/2 weeks to get it in and repair, then send it back altogether.

Here's a update you guys The $212 I paid down is apparently the final price. I had the lens sent in November 20th from Precision Camera, and it arrived back home December 5th, today.

It has changed then. PrecisionCamera's website showed how much it costs for the lens repair and all the other stuff like name and address. It also asks for credit card number at the end.

Here is the website Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation - Service & Repair

Hey. I just sent my DA* 16-50 in for repair on weather seal and auto focusing. Is the email of the form that you just filled out's email reply suppose to be instant? Or does it take awhile. I have not heard back from RIcoh or Precision Camera. I am a bit anxious.

Omg. I just watched a Pentax given out as a prize on the television show Let's Make A Deal. It's a white one, I couldn't read the model out. I should've taken a picture!

Sony a6000 or Sony a6300 or Sony a6500?

Okay, can I have your guys' opinions on these and which one would you get and why? I don't want you to tell me "what features do you need and here may be what's best for you". I want you to tell me which one you would pick if you were the one that is making that decision, and what is your opinion and reason behind it. Thanks!

Sony
a6000, a6300, a6500

My sister wants a new camera and have her eyes set on the A6x00 series. The price differential is quite substantial, and so I ask and is it worth it to you enough based off specifications, that you are willing to pay the premium price for the top tier?

I went to the zoo during my vacation at St Louis. The free zoo is very impressive for it being free, it has everything and it's awesome!

Sorry for the water mark, I know y'all don't like it. Not like anyone would want my photos anyway, just adding a extra blanket of my work that I spent a lot of time on.

People Practice Session w/ Daniel and Tammy

These are only during my practice shoot, I am trying to get the best picture for their Save The Date cards. I am doing the real shoot next week where it's 50 degrees no jacket weather, the photos will turn out much better without jackets on. They are friends of mine for several years now, and so I had no problem asking them for a practice session and if they like any of the photos on there, they can consider putting it onto their Save The Date cards.

@lithedreamer, I set it for underexposure because it's better than overexposure. I set it at bracket, so every shot I take has two shots, 1 normal and 1 underexposure by 1 stop. That way I can choose which one is better. It has been cloudy lately and the light has been diffused, gota love shooting during winter. Just for the safe side, I have to bracket like that.

Also thanks everyone else, tips are great. I will try to do my best and to enjoy it.

I was able to borrow my sister's k-5, so I now have my K-3 and K-5 to shoot with. I am going to equip the K-3 with a 16-50. That's because the K-3 has more megapixels. I am more likely to crop with, and crop a larger size of the photo than I would with a telephoto. Therefore the K-5 with the lower MP, gets the 50-135.

Taking phtotos of my sister and her soon to be husband sometime within the next 1-2 weeks. I am really scared that I might screw this one up, I am doing their engagement shots only, she's going to hire another photographer for the rest.. Any hints and tips from fellow Pentax users that will make my life a bit easier? I set it so that I bracket two times, one normal and one underexposed by one stop, an easy Photoshop fix. That way I don't have to worry too much about pictures being overexposed and overblown to the point of no return.

Found a cheap and effective way to fix SDM failures.

After my 16-50 works again without warm-up, I realize that a seal broke as well. There feels like air pumping out of between the gaps of the zoom ring and the meter area. It's not sucking in either, just blowing out.

The safe side is doing this, "I found another cheap way to quick fix the SDM problem. You just hold the AF button down for a couple of seconds and let go, then you hold the AF button down for a couple of seconds and let go, repeat, repeat, and repeat until it starts to move and focus again."
