K1 mkii new owner question

Yes that setup is quite heavy. I use that along with a 2nd mkII &DFA 70-200 at airshows both with bg's. I use the Black Rapid double sling although you would be just fine with the Black Rapid Single sling. Just make sure that put the screw in connector to the tripod mount of the lens and connect the strap to the lens so that you don't have all that weight pulling on the lens mount of the camera body.

Since most of the airshows i would shoot are cancelled at least for the first 9 months of the year spent a little time working on my table top photography. Converted to b&w in LightRoom and applied Serge Ramelli's many lights preset to it. I have also started using film again and taking continuing education classes at a local community college so I could use the film lab but that hasn't been available since mid march and don't know about the fall yet.

I had the opportunity to hitch a ride on Boogie Baby a C47 during the October jump school put on by the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team (WWIIADT). the school runs a jump school three times a year similar to a WWII Airborne Jump School, these were the last 4 of the class of 14 needed their 5th drop to graduate. about two hours later the class all received their gold jump wings in the traditional airborne Blood wings ceremony. The members of this class included a medical doctor numerous members of the US Armed Forces and a Norwegian Army Major. The WWIIADT is a group dedication to preserving the history of the sacrifices of members of the US Army Airborne during World War II. Members of this group and their aircraft flew to Europe this last summer as part of Daks over Normandy in which similar groups from around the globe participated in recreating the airborne invasion of Normandy France on D-Day. I was doing some table top in a lightbox the other day and was reminded that my cat must checkout each and every opened box in the house. Now he wants a super model contract, a unlimited supply of catnip, and time on the cat walk.

For those of us in the Dallas-Fort Worth area we are lucky to have Arlington Camera locally as a Pentax dealer, I have bought both my K1 and my mkII from them and happily paid the sales tax both times. Although I also do business with B&H

I shot this at the 2017 Bell Helicopter Alliance Airshow, I was panning the plane in front as it passed canopy to canopy to the opposing second aircraft. Unfortunately I was using too slow a shutter speed to capture a sharper image of both aircraft as they passed one another.

Pentax K1 or Pentax K1 Mark ii

I had the K1 since it came out and was very pleased with it, however I did decide to do the upgrade and I have been pleased with the upgrade. I had a chance to trade in my old workhorse K20D and make a steal for a second K1mkII. I did so because I shoot airshows and use two bodies and need them both to be as functionally identical as possible. if your budget allows you to get the mkII go for it. If it's a litter tighter you will be just as happy with the K1

12 days of Pentax holiday deals @ the US Ricoh Web store

I have attached a copy of the flyer that I was emailed late last week. But a gentleman from US Camera Pro was there buying used working cameras, lenses, etc. Arlington Camera had two instant rebates from Ricoh/Pentax one for $100 and a second one for $150. If you brought in a camera to sell and elected to take a credit on a new camera US Camera pro offered 10% more and made the check out to Arlington Camera. And in addition if you bought a Pentax DSLR there was an additional Pentax instant rebate of $200. The K1mkII was the body, battery, battery grip and sling bag. The only difference between that offer and the one on the Ricoh/Pentax website was I received a Pentax padded strap instead of a 32gb SD card. I happily paid the sales tax But this was only a two day event, they did have a few more K1's and some mkII's and a couple of 645's. didn't notice what they might have had in the apsc bodies. I had to call them Friday as they didn't have any Pentax listed on the website.

I'm looking for a preset for LightRoom that I can use to batch process images for doing the Electronic Filing with the US Copyright office. I saw one mention very briefly on a youtube video that a guy was running on a Mac. I use windows but so far I haven't found one yet. If you use one which one do you use?
Thanks
Larry

12 days of Pentax holiday deals @ the US Ricoh Web store

Well I scored a sweet deal yesterday at Arlington Camera. Friday and Saturday US Camera Pro was instore buying used camera gear. Of course Pentax was having the 12 days of Christmas deal for the K1mkII w/grip/sling bag/32gb card for $1899 and Arlington had that deal (w/1 exception) for $30 less at $1869. Plus if you traded in a camera and bought a Pentax DSLR you got an additional $200 off so I ditched my K20D and added another K1mkII to my collection for $1669. The one exception between the two deals is I got a padded Pentax strap over the SD card.
