Kind of off topic, but I noticed on the Pentax site the k-1 uses RECHARGEABLE-ION BATTERY D-LI90(E) and my k-3 uses a Li-Ion Battery D-LI90. Are they the same? I hope so!

It's the Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington, D.C. who don't care if you bring in camera (Even though it says you can't on the site), plus I know some of the band members =0).

I take advantage of the Pentax K3 dual slots and always record both the JPEG and RAW image formats. The only thing I hate is post processing and the time it takes. I just built a new computer and for some reason its way slower than my previous machine at RAW development (I went from an Intel XEON Quad to an Intel i5 Quad). I'll play more with the RAW files tonight to see what I can get. I made one of pictures black and white and it comes out okay, but I really wanted to preserve the camera lighting. Reading about in that thread it looks to be an issue with DSLR's.

I'll set the camera to a more neutral filter setting next time to see if that makes a difference.

Here is one of the pictures I made black and white from the RAW files (See below):

I am having difficulty in shooting music at night clubs. I currently use a Pentax K3, Sigma 17-50mm lens, and no flash. What technique do any of you use to make people not look like purple blobs when the lighting in doors is purple and there is a smoke machine running? There appears to be plenty of light when I was in there. What am I doing wrong?

I was using anywhere from 2.8-5f and 1600-3200 ISO. The club felt like there was plenty of light.

Below are a few pics of my disaster :(:(:(:

I didn't know they had some improvements, but how do you know if it has a newer SDM?

I am in the market for a 2.8 zoom for my K3. I'm looking at the Pentax smc PENTAX-DA* 50-135mm f/2.8 ED, but I am worried about the reliability. Can anyone speak to this? I used to have the Pentax 17-50 2.8F, but I was burned and had two SDM failures in a year. I was looking at the Tamron (but it might be too slow) and it appears Sigma stopped making a 2.8 zoom for the Pentax K mount.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

I ended up buying the last one ebay, better then spending $300-400 on a new flash.

I've been having issues with my AF540FGZ flash, it keeps falling off the boot. So I was doing some shooting this weekend and it fell off and hit the pavement and of course because it's places the side broke off. Thanks Pentax for making it plastic (It's my understand the new ones are metal...).

Is there a place where I can get a new bottom piece? I tried super gluing it, but it seems it may not work out :(

That's more than likely what happened. I thought I was unscrewing it, but I was actually making it tighter. As you see from the pictures it took some force to get the grip off. The grip even has battle scars :p

Yeah, its seems like a fault in the grip. I mentioned before, NEVER had this issue with the Canon 60D. I may try some Super Lube (I have some laying around).

Okay, I'll check that out. I checked the thread of the grip just now and it looks perfect. I'm just perplexed why it got stuck...

I'll have to make a trip to Home Depot to get some grease. I don't a repeat of what happened, this really freaked me out. Took me about 2 hours to get the attachment wheel to move .

Looks like just having the camera sit allowed the condensation from the freezer to go away.

So it looks like actually putting it in the freezer might have helped (The freezer generated a lot of condensation, which is concerning). I used a flat head screw driver again and place it in on the threads. While pushing across the thread with the flathead screwdriver, i used my other hand to move the other side of the grip attachment wheel. The grip finally came off, that was an insane amount of work to get this thing rolling. The issue I have now is the mirror still has some stubborn condensation on it. I have attached some pics so everyone can see.

Ugh, i put it in the freezer. I still cant get it off. I never had this issue with my canon 60D. Canon had a smarter approach by having both batteries sit in the grip tray. I may have to send it out to Pentax?

:(:(:(:( I screwed up. I over tightened the K3 grip and I cant get it off (This is not the first time). I looked at the other thread that had this issue, but there where not many solutions. What should I do???

I've tried using a flat head, but it just skims the turning knob threads.

My Pentax K5 and K7 don't "pre-flash". Pls help

I have been using the K3 with a AF-540FGZ Flash. I noticed I don't see a pre flash using the PTTL mode and TTl does not come up at all when selecting modes. Is this possibly the same situation even though I am using a K3? I hear the K5 has a lot more problems with flash.

Is the double flash so fast we I can't see it like described above? 2 Second delay?

Thanks
