I would just like to say a thank you to the entrants to this contest. I know this was probably something of a difficult subject to put out there. For the winner, I am going to pick noelcmn's moon/child picture, I really like how it came together. With honorable mention to aaacb and Bruce Clark, both interesting pictures.

Ok, it's deffinitely an apperture block. Looks like the solenoid is broken. Does anyone have a part number to get a replacement?

edit: nvm, found it :-)

This is one of my ant queens (solenopsis fugax). She's still founding and approaching diapause (hibernation) and likely won't begin laying until after.

THe pictures aren't actually mine, i looked for good examples. As far as i know this is a standard feature on pentax digital cameras. If you go into the shooting mode menu (where you select single, burst, timer etc) there will be a mode named 'Multi Exposure'. With that you can expose up to 9 shots in camera, into a single composite image.

I think Pentax cameras can do it in camera, it's in the options for shooting mode (Multi-Exposure).

Patience and lots and lots of shots lol. This was taken at Richmond Park in London. They have herds of deer there, it's fantastic. Must have been a good size herd of 15-20 Fallow Deer in that case.

This week's topic is Double Exposure. Double Exposure is a photographic technique that mainly involves combining two exposures to create a single image. The technique yields very interesting results and allows the photographer to produce ghost images and mirror images that tell a story in a unique way that canít be achieved with a single photo.

Good luck!

The Challenge will run from now until next Tuesday night, 22 October 2019. Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Oh damn that pmg tool looks really handy. I'd also add in a cleaning pen Hama Lens Cleaning Pen - For Camera Lenses and Filters: Amazon.co.uk: Camera & Photo. A compact and high lumen maglight. Maybe an elasticated/draw string in case you lose a lens cap to keep a bag in place over the lens.

I recently watched an interesting video on the 'Modern Rogue' youtube channel where they talked about what they would have in an everyday carry kit, packed into a small Bag like this (amazon.com : ZJtech Tactical Molle Pouch Compact EDC Tools Utility Gadget Pouch : Sports & Outdoors?tag=pentaxforums-20&). That got me thinking, what would people put into a photographers equivalent?

I know what you mean about legs not wanting to let you get too low lol. I am indeed from the UK :-). My mini tripod is great for hides and quite sturdy. My big one is very light weight (Manfrotto Compact Action Aluminum Tripod) and can suffer if there is a breeze, so definitely need something more sturdy.

I did go out and find some spiders on webs earlier, but the wind was blowing and so couldn't find a spider and web that was not vibrating in the accursed wind lol.

I didn't actually replace it, I just took out the little bit of metal that is part of the mechanism and lightly ran an emery board over the edges of it and put it back, worked fine again after that.

[edit] does seem to be working correctly now. I'll follow up if the issue happens again. I think i'll clean contacts just in case that was a factor.

Was just a regular UV filter. Attached two shots, not exactly the same settings but close enough.

Definitely not had it in live view. I tried with my Sigma 28-300 and i didn't have any issues. I've had the aperture control failure before and know how to fix that if need be.

[edit] can a filter interfere with a lens light metering properly?

I have recently bought a SMC Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro and it has been working well for the most part. However I have noticed an intermittent problem when shooting through the viewfinder where the photos shot will be totally black. The camera picks up all the correct settings and it shoots fine with screen view. It doesn't do this all the time, last time it occurred I took off the uv filter that i put on to protect the lens, shot through the screen and flicked back to viewfinder and it was working again. I am kind of stumped.

I do need a better tripod. With weight on the front of my camera my tripod tends to have a gradual downwards creep.
