It's very easy to reach around the camera and trigger the remote without getting in the way. I've been doing this for years.

So, final cut, or LR premier or not either of those.

I used to do a lot of video editing in my job but that was several years ago. I used Final Cut Pro which was a fantastic piece of software with unlimited capabilities, and at that time was very expensive (cheaper now). I also went to a 4 day class on using it I don't know as much about Premier, except that it is a respected piece of software. I guess the attraction to premier may be the (supposed) integration into other Adobe software.

These days I no longer do video editing in my job. I did want to have a video editor to play with in case I do some video but I'm not doing it professionally. I bought a copy of Corel Paint Shop Pro which included Video Studio Pro when it was cheap, so I'm covered , good enough for non pro work.

Recs wanted, 3rd party D-LI109 batteries & travel charger, memory card

When I bought my KP last summer I bought this: Newmowa D-Li109 Battery (2-Pack) and Dual USB Charger for Pentax D-LI109 I didn't know much about Newmowa but I like the charger that can charge two batteries at a time. I have a charger like that that came with Wasabi batteries for my Sony (which I've barely touched since getting the KP).

I have no complaints on the Newmowas.

Carry on vs checked baggage for camera Equipment

I take my camera gear as my allowed "personal item" which is technically different than a carry on. The personal item must fit under the seat. Some of the smaller planes used on short flights have undersized overhead storage so you must check the carry on planeside. The last flight we were on we watched my wife's carry on bag thrown from the cargo hold right over the ramp and onto the tarmac. Luckily it survived, but that's why you have to be careful. I wouldn't check any gear unless it was packed in a Pelican or the likes.

Don't forget the Sigma 50-500, As I recall it was the best of the XX-500 Sigmas. I rented it once from CameraLensRentals and it was pretty good. However when it came to buy a long lens I went with the DA^300 because it is faster and the better IQ. You have to remember on a lot of the zooms that the long end may be the weakest part of the lens for IQ.

Carefully clean the contacts in the battery compartment. What type of batteries are you using?, are they the same ones you last used?

Weekly Challenge Weekly Photo Challenge #442 -- My Favorite Image From 2018

A hard choice, but probably my favorite. Maybe because the place is so beautiful, (I have been there twice, once in May and once in October) To go to this place you need a apply for a permit, if approved they send you the permit, a map to find it, and a permit to park along a state highway. I drove about three hours to get there before the sunrise so there would be no shadows. KP and HD DA 15., F6.3, 30 sec, ISO 100

I've not seen many negative comments from people who have actually used the camera. It was mostly from those who were hoping for something else and it didn't meet their list of demands. I've had mine for a few months now and couldn't be happier.

Congratulations on the great deal!! No K-01 but I do have a K-30, which I haven't used since the KP arrived (I still use the K-50 some though). There is a lot of difference, most really good. However it's not hard to get used to since Pentax is pretty consistent on user interfaces. The grip has been much talked about as being different, I use the deepest grip and have gotten used to the difference, I'm sure that will be a difference from the K-01 also. I use back button focusing and the button placement is a little different, no biggie but it took some getting used to. There are still a lot of things that I have not used on this camera, it has so much. The low light abilities are striking and the image quality is superb. Have fun, you're going to love it.

This is pretty cool, you started this thread, and this deal comes along to make it an easy decision. I thought I got a good deal in July and I did, but this one is even better. Enjoy the KP!

If you are on that much of a budget to be buying old generation cameras, why would you chose the Nikon that you have no lenses for?

I can't answer your question except with "i doubt it", It would be fantastic if that was possible and used the Sony Autofocus speed, but the focus motor in the 300 is the slow part.
