I have been enjoying your wonderful eagle images -many of my favorites are the immature eagles.

And this one tops them all, absolutely stunning, thank you for sharing,

I'd like to add my experience with this lens which I purchased about 6 weeks ago. I have been very happy with it. It is my first WR lens and it is nice being able to take pictures in the rain - no problem! Here is my first attempt:

Attachment 130173

I also purchased this lens to have something between my Tamron 17-50 and my 55-300 when with my family. I always seemed to want to be to be a little wider or longer depending on the lens; the 18-135 fits perfectly the role perfectly without changing lenses.

For me though, it's real forte is its fast and almost silent focusing with my K-5. My family runs out of patience rather quickly, and is not always delighted to be photographed, so this lens keeps helps keep the peace :) I can get some candid shots and even get a few for myself, it seems to be a very forgiving lens in these situations.

Yes, I have other wonderful lenses with great IQ, but for I need it for, it delivers good images. Here are a few more, taken at my grandson's birthday party at the local nature center. And one rose I managed to quickly get on a "no one's stopping for you again" family walk ;)

The ducks and rose are 50% crops.

Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 60-300mm and Pentax 1.7x TC

I'm hoping to use this combination tomorrow on a birding event, I do like the Tamron Adaptall 2 60-300mm.

BTW, don't know what I was thinking, those are song sparrows, not finches.

I wish that was my feeder! My friend has a nice glassed-in porch overlooking the feeder with plenty of shrubs and evergreens for cover. She gets some great photos.

I have used this combination a few times, and want to do more, because it focuses very nicely with decent light with my K7. It is heavy for me, so I am better with it on a tripod with the Manfrotto lens holder for a tripod.

The first picture is with a tripod, pretty sure cable release, at 100%, the fine detail is still clear.

The aperture does not register on the first picture, on the next three it is f/6.7, I had the 60-300 wide open at f3.8.

This cedar waxwing was handheld and still pretty sharp considering I am not too steady.

Attachment 118223

These finches were taken through a window and hand held. The second one is a crop.

I certainly think it can be usable and focuses pretty quickly, and though I'm not a tester, at least as fast as the 1.7 attached to my DA 55-300.

Hope this helps, Sharon

Problems removing SD card from my K-5

This works for my brand new Pentax K-5. I almost had heart failure when I could barely get the Sandisk card out with pulling hard. Tried another Sandisk card, same thing. On my K-7 the card almost flies out.

But your suggestion works, though I have to really release the pressure very quickly.

After it was "almost" stuck the third time, I did a search and my reliable Pentax forum had the answer, thank you.

I did receive an email right after placing my order by phone earlier this afternoon. It has the order number and the correct information for the $750 sale price. The email says the camera will ship between January 30th and February 9th.

Now to wait and see if they honor the low price. I can only hope and thank my lucky stars if they do!

I just ordered from Samys a few minutes ago. They are out of stock, but took my order. They said it will take two to three weeks for it to arrive and it will be for the $749 price. Yeah!

I asked about the extended warranty, the salesman couldn't find it in the inventory. He said he will inquire about having them available and notify me if they will be for sale.

I can only hope that they honor the price, we'll see.

If you fold the velvet on the diagonal (like a military flag) or roll it around a tube, it shouldn't crease or mark as much. Also, velvet has a nap, so depending on what direction it is suspended, it will show more or less reflection and marking.

Thanks for the great black velvet idea:)

Thanks, unfortunately since this was taken a year ago, she has progressively lost more sight, and they are seldom that blue.

But she is very healthy and gets around well. She's actually my son's family cat, but stayed with me while they moved last fall.

She's still here, we jointly decided the move would be too much for her and she is staying with me.

Since then she has completed my human training is quite comfortable!

I really like this lens, even with a little fringing.

This is my "grand-dog", Jackson, the second generation of Golden Retreivers in our family.

He doesn't get on furniture except when he visits his Nana, then it's dead center on the leather couch, 'cause he knows he can!

What was your very first camera?

...... for my 12th or 13th birthday, a surprise gift from my parents who didn't own a camera.

I didn't do much with it but I wish I still had it, for sentimental reasons. Especially now that I bought my first DSLR in October, 2009, a K20D, and I just added a K-7.

That was after shooting with a Canon 2S IS for four years and finally having the time to discover real photography - and what a discovery! I love it, but what a huge learning curve never having had the SLR experience to build on.

Pacerr,

I have a 200mm f/3.5 Tamron lens that looks the same as yours except it is a fixed screw mount. It is very sharp with pleasing images.

I've searched for information before on the adaptall site but have been confused about the CT or F designation.

Perhaps it is the F class because it is a dedicated mount?
