If Pentax would be discontinued, would prices go up or down?

As one of the worst offenders when it comes to LBA, I'm going to guess that some part of you is looking for an excuse to buy more lenses.

So I'd like to enable your desires by telling you that prices are sure to go up if Pentax goes under. So best invest in all the lenses you might want right now, while the prices are still low. In fact probably best to get some spares as well. You won't regret it!

My last few Explores have been with non-Pentax gear, but visiting family in friends in the UK I shot this on the Pentax-F 17-28mm Fisheye zoom on the K-1

Final thoughts on the 07 pinhole lens as I won't get a chance to post tomorrow.

It is known that creativity often thrives when we are up against limitations. The pinhole has provided those limitations for me. There's no way to adjust aperture or focus. Sharpness only exists in the centre, with optimum distance around 60cm. Beyond that, the centre remains relatively sharp to further distances while the edges become increasingly blurry. This can help to focus attention on whatever is in the centre of the frame. But it's a very different feel to subject isolation from narrow depth of field. The effect looks more like results I've seen from some of the Lensbaby composer series lenses (though at a fraction of the cost). The other interesting effect is from the flare - which again is very different to the flare I've seen from other lenses.

The surprises to me have been (1) how sharp it can be in the centre in the right conditions; and (2) the miniturisation effect, especially when combined with the Q7's Tonal Expansion filter.

I probably won't use it all that much after this month but it's definitely one I'll hang onto. It's cheap and gives special effects that are unique. Recommended for anyone who has a Q series camera.

I took this one at the Escher X Nendo exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria using the Pentax Q7 and 01 standard lens. It made today's explore:

This one just got explored. I frequently wish that other photos of mine that I consider better would get explored rather than the ones that do. Having said that - there are many that get explored that really deserve it. I'm just not sure that this one does!

Without a doubt my kit is enough. It it me that is not enough. But fixing me is hard while buying more kit is easy (so long as I have money). And this, my friends, is the root cause of the runaway consumerism and toxic greed that is destroying the planet.

A late, last minute entry! I'm joining with the 07 Pinhole lens for the Pentax Q7. Mainly because I'm impressed by it's pocketable size and it's sufficiently different to push my creative edge this month (something that needs to happen). Here's a selfie with it taken earlier today.

Confession time: I've been lurking on this Zeiss club thread for some time, drooling over the wonderful images here, and it inspired me over the last 12 months to lay my hands on the 35/2 and then (thanks to Les3547) the 28/2. There is definitely something very special about the Zeiss Distagon look, and once I started shooting with the 35/2 I knew I wanted more of these lenses. But it was especially Tas's images with the 21/2.8 that wowed me.

Well, on Friday I Leitaxed a ZF 21/2.8 and yesterday I took it out for a walk around Melbourne, and I'm not disappointed! What impresses me particularly, apart from the extraordinary punchiness of the microcontrast and colours, is the absence of distortion in such a wide angle. I know that I'm going to have a lot of fun with the possibilities of this lens.

Here's a few shots. First with the 21/2.8

Now with the 28/2

And finally, a couple with the 35/2

Here you are:

It's probably my most used lens. I took it to the Kimberley last June (a very dusty place) and no complaints with regard to image quality. It's also light and compact, which means I tend to take it with me more often than the D-FA 24-70.
