K-30 and UHS1 card "Memory Card Error"

I have two Sony SF-16UY and both have worked without a hitch since I purchased them in June. I decided to keep one in my Lumix LX-5 and recording movies and taking stills has never been an issue in that camera.

Recently, I purchased two PNY Elite Performance 16GB for $10.99 any they're even faster than the Sony cards. Copying photos from my laptop to the card is three times faster than the Sony.

Perhaps the components in the cards are causing an issue with your camera?

Healthy model's image used in "I'm HIV+" Ad campaign

Getty did nothing wrong here and the model will be very lucky to prove damages in a court, especially because there isn't a name attached to the ad. Furthermore, the photographer, Jena Cumbo screwed up big time when she submitted the images to Getty. According to a different source: “A lot of people dropped the ball … I didn’t understand my contract [with Getty].” Ms. Cumbo said.

Folks here just need to chill-out and stop getting so passionate over a one-sided story.

Freddy, your wife sounds like a good woman. Secondly, you're going to love the K-30. I've had my K100D for close to 7 years and would get frustrated when shooting in low light with my FA 50 1.4, because the camera's A/F would hunt too much. The K30's A/F is much quicker and precise and the higher ISO means that you'll get those nice night and interior shots.

Labels, my good friend, labels...
Label body A as Tyra > Label the SD Card Tyra > Label your import folder 'Tyra' > In Windows name the SD card Tyra
In the camera go to the Photographer Information menu and name the photographer Tyra. This will show up when you view the EXIF data

Label body B as Elle > Label the SD Card Elle > Label your import folder 'Elle' > In Windows name the SD card Elle
In the camera go to the Photographer Information menu and name the photographer Elle. This will show up when you view the EXIF data

I believe you can also change the folder names in the camera body as well.

Applications such as Bulk Rename Utility can rename your files for you on your computer, allowing you too append a prefix or suffix to the file name.

*PS I'm assuming you're using Windows.

1.8 TB of data? That's a lot of stuff and you should probably be using robocopy. It's a command line, file copy utility included in Windows Vista, 7 and 8. I guarantee that once you use it for large data transfers, you won't want to copy and paste ever again. Most folks don't realize it exists, but it's in there and it works extremely well.

Works great on my Win 7 and Win 8 systems. The one with the SSD is noticeably faster, which is why I upgraded the hard drive.
I bet that MacBook in the video is using an SSD as well.

**What would really help this discussion is to specify which process is slow is LR. Opening the application is not as CPU intensive and converting images, so the experience is going to be different.**

Win8 - what a kludge!

I feel your pain. CUPS printing is a PITA. I deal with Macs and Windows day to day and encounter issues with both platforms. If I used the problems that family members have with their Windows machines as my frame of reference, I'd think that PCs are the best thing known to man, but I know better.

On the plus side, my scripting prowess has improved as a result of dealing with OS 10.

All due to a missing Start menu, which will be fixed in Windows 8.1 and then you'll see the surge in uptake. The missing component is the one reason why I didn't deploy Win 8 throughout my enterprise. Most folks just can get along without it.

However, If you can get past that, the OS is technically great and does many things right.

You also have to keep in mind that the vast majority of users do not work with the OS DIRECTLY, but through applications. We were able to replace many of the Macs at my company with Windows because the Adobe applications such as InDesign, Incopy and Photoshop ran just as well and in many instances better. The limiting factor was the user, not the hardware or OS.

k-30 Battery won't take a charge?

I had a similar issue with my K30 so it's on its way back to Hunt's. My camera was working fine until I demoed the great features of my new camera when the thing failed to start-up. I was pretty embarrassed and a little surprised because my K100D never failed me. The issue got worse as the camera would not turn on after going in to standby.
After running several tests with different combinations of SD cards/lenses, I concluded that the camera or battery was at fault.

BTW, you should look in to the extended warranty. At $20 it's good insurance.

Greetings everyone. I finally decided to join this forum after realizing that most folks here aren't all that bad :)
I'm a proud owner of a K100D which has served me faithfully for about 7 years and own a month old K30 which is going back because it just isn't reliable. I'm undaunted, however, and am looking forward to replacing it with another K30.
