That's true for this specific region whereas other parts in Belgium don't provide such smooth rides. ::lol:

I have to say (now after reading your comment) I used some exposure compensation to brighten up a bit. It was a grey day which resulted in quite dark images when shooting solely in default P mode.

Shot while riding my bicycle so I used the P program on my Ricoh GR III.
Also applied some light lightroom enhancements such as brushing some more brightness on my friends.

Selling Pentax K50 to get Ricoh GR III ?

Daring remark for some but logic for me! :)

---------- Post added 02-18-21 at 05:39 PM ----------

Thank you all for your input!

What has been decided: the Pentax K50 has to go with a slight tear in the eye. Even tough it's my first Pentax DSLR, it will serve someone better than just collecting dust! :)

Now the last question, which option below would you choose and why?

First Ricoh GR III - 650 (negotiable)
  • Leather half case

  • Viewfinder

  • Screen protection

  • Extra battery

  • Fairly new, also bought second hand but with warranty

Second Ricoh GR III - 620 (negotiable)
  • GW-4 wide angle lens + lens adapter

  • 32 gb memory card

  • camera pouch

  • extra battery

  • Few months old (20 shoots) + warranty of 8 months

There is no warranty of the seller.

However there is still guarantee of the original seller. I have found another GR III offer which includes the wide conversion lens GW-4 and lens adapter and has still 8 months of guarantee.

Thank you! Indeed I also feel like it's a good balance between the portable and quick GR III and the more extensive possibilities of the K1.

I can imagine! Better not make it a habit then and challenge yourself by using your K-1 more! ;-)

Any opinion on the Ricoh GR III or any other similar camera?

Parting with a first Pentax DSLR seems harder than it is...

Hello,

I am not sure where to put this thread but here it goes...

Having the opportunity to buy a second hand Ricoh GR III (including viewfinder, extra battery, leather case, screen protection) at a 30 % reduction (650 instead 870 for a brand new one), I am thinking to sell my Pentax K50.
The reason therefor is that I own a Pentax K1 Mark II for the more elaborate photographic efforts. A compact camera would be a good asset for quick, swift photography when being for instance on a bike tour.

From your experience is there any reason to keep the K50 and not buying the Ricoh GR III? Or do you suggest to take the step and go ahead?
I am on a tight budget and I see no reason to have a K50 collecting only dust instead of nice pictures... :)

Any other remarks or suggestions are welcome!

Have a good day

Advice from fellow touring cyclist / bikers: which bag for Pentax K1 Mark II

Do you have any link to the Lowepro off road? I can only find bags which are no longer available.

So having a camera upfront or in a frame bag (only lens) isn't a good idea because there is not enough padding to limit the shocks. Is this interpretation correct?

Hello,

Due to Covid regulations I have gotten into biking and bike travelling. Also I am a proud owner of a Pentax K1 Mark II which I will try to use more often this year!

I am planning to have a handlebar bag for my camera's body with a 50 mm f1.7 lens attached to it and a seperate frame bag for my Pentax 24-70mm f2.8 lens.
The idea is to travel easy, light and be able to swap rather quickly according to the given photographic situation.

Now a question for fellow travellers/hikers/bikers: which bags do you use which aren't too heavy to carry, which are practical to open from a bike?

If a K1 is too much of a hassle for light and swift bike travels, feel free to say so. :)

Many thanks and good day!

Hey rawr,

Thanks for the insights!
It feels certainly as a feature race but nevertheless it is worth testing in order to completely understand the full capacity of the K1! Makes me want to seek the darkest of the darkest and test this thing out! ;)

As a amateur I keep the ISO as low as possible and up it only when needed. But I am still learning. :-)

Anyway, is there a situation imaginable where one would use max ISO 819200??

Hello Lev,

I have bought my K1-II last weekend while there was a promotion sale. Until now I didn't have much time to experiment with it but my first experience is only positive!
The versatility and quality of this machine is just amazing!

Starting with a Pentax K1000 and going up with a K50, the next step up to the K1-II seemed only logic to me, a Pentax fan. :-)
I still consider myself as an photographic amateur but I am eager to go out and learn more about this camera!

A true example of the art of photography: framing a moment or object in time and space which is in itself already art! :)

Great job and good to have took some time thinking about a good frame and angle!
