I currently have the k-x with the 18-55, the A 50mm 1.7, and the 55-300 kit lens. I'm looking for an upgrade from the 18-55.

I find myself trying to use the 55-300 in every situation because I like it better but at times just need something wider. I'd like to find a better IQ lens that I could use for landscape and portraits.

Any suggestions?

Online printing of custom sizes

I have been working on some images in Photoshop for our "save the dates" for our wedding..so i've been cropping and fitting text into tight areas and trying to get it to the exact size I want it.

Well, since this is my first time doing this kind of thing I hadnt thought about the dimensions of my image and am now realizing that they arent all that close to the standard sizes i'm seeing for printing. One option would be to leave white space and print them to the closest size but since there will be 100 or so of them printed cutting out the white space isnt very convenient.

Are there places online that print good quality and any size you want? And possibly print on thicker, card, type paper.

That's exactly what he was doing! He would just lay with his face in the sand and then lift his head up to enjoy the breeze!

Thanks for the comments everyone.

akanarya - My fiance and I have been going back and forth on how to treat the underexposed foreground on the 1st and 3rd images. She tried to get me to brighten them in PP and it just didnt look right to me. I thought it distracted from the mountain. I also tried cropping most of it out and that just didnt feel right either. So I left it in. Neither of the areas really contain anything worth looking at in my opinion, just brown mountainside.

Does anyone else have any input on those underexposed areas? How do you normally handle them? Brighten in PP? Crop out? Leave it as is?

Made some minor changes to the ones I posted in the critique forum. Still looking for any constructive criticism, but i'm more confident that these are probably what I will go with! Thanks.

Thank you both for the comments! It was amazing to be there. Hard to capture the grand scale of that mountain.

Hi, I took these this May on our trip to Denali National Park. I would love any advice before I print them. I am very new to photography so any input would be greatly appreciated! Should I crop more in the first panorama? These are going to be printed big..about 12''x48'' for the panoramas and 16''x20'' for the other. Thanks!

Need tips for taking portraits with camera facing the sun

Thanks for the tip everyone, turns out I didnt need to use them at all, it ended up being very cloudy. So now I have a new task, trying to make the pictures a little less dull! The bride turned out great but you can definitely tell that everything else just looks a little gloomy. I'm working on them in Lightroom so we'll see if I can liven them up a little. Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks.

Need tips for taking portraits with camera facing the sun

Hi, I am going to take a few portraits this saturday at a nearby lake. We are going to go around sunset so the sun will be pretty low, however I would like to get some portraits with the water and the sun in the background. I was wondering if anybody had any tips on shooting in this situation? A friend of mine hates her bridal photos so wants me to try and see if i can get any better ones.

I wont have a chance to get out there ahead of time and i'm afraid either her face will be underexposed, or the water/dress will be overexposed. The ones she has now were taken in the middle of the day and the dress and water are completely blown out.

I have a k-x with the 18-55 and 55-300 kit lenses as well as the A50 1.7, no external flashes or anything like that.

How long will fresh batteries last in long exposure?

I assume that if my batteries die with the shutter open I wont get an image. Is that correct?

I'm curious as to how long a fresh set of Eneloops will last in the k-x during one long exposure. Does anybody have any experience with this? I'll be out camping and want to try some star trails and wont have the ability to plug in. Thanks!

Unless you got your k-x in 2002....1 euro did not equal $1.
