If 15mm is an option, I am quite happy so far with the Irix Blackstone:

Replacing my k5iis - need input on upgrading or replacing

K1 would be my first vote, but if you cannot afford, then the KP gets my vote. No sense in selling off all those Pentax lenses.

Replacing my K-1........which do I get ?

I went with the original K1 instead of the K1ii. I also mostly do landscapes and portraits of the kids. So far I cannot complain at all. The extra autofocus speed is not missed for me at all. Couldn't justify the price difference for that being the only major upgrade.

K-1 - The Best, Most Useful Starter lens

I started with the 28-105mm and it is just an excellent lens. The pics it takes are far beyond what one would expect from a "kit" zoom lens.
I also had the 90mm tamron which was excellent on my k30 and even more excellent on the K1.
I bought the D FA 35mm F2 and it is a fine lens for less than 400 bucks.

I recently picked up the Irix Blackstone 15mm and it is awesome too.

Too many choices, but the kit lens is a great starting point.

Metz 44 AF-1 this one I had for my k30 and after the firmware update it is even better on the K1. A great combo IMO.

I wouldn't risk it tbh. Back in the film days, I was paranoid after one xray, but nine would be too much for me.

Hey mate, nice stuff as usual! It is your posts that convinced me to pull the trigger on the 35mm F2. Just got it yesterday, and so far very impressed. Pictures to come!

Awesome stuff. Every picture on this post is worthy of quoting, but don't have time to comment on all of them! Keep them coming guys!

K1 users: what lenses do you use?

I have only had my K1 for a few weeks, but this is what I am using on it:

28-105mm - This lens is simply amazing for the price. Shoots way above its price point. Really nothing major to complain about it.
90mm Tamron macro - This was great on my k30 and it is even better on my K1. I bought this about five years ago, so not the newest version, but still. Besides suffering from CA, it is freaking nice for the price.
DA 40mm LImited - great lens on the K30 and works pretty well stopped at F8 or better. It produces great shots and colors. Great for landscape and portraits
FA 35mm F2 - I got this yesterday (the updated version) - WOW. First few shots are really impressing me. Super sharp. Lovely colors. This is going to steal all the DA 40mm limited time on my K1.

I took a similar shot with my 28-105mm as with the 35mm. The zoom had massive CA in the light reflections on the ripples.. The 35mm ZERO. And this is not a fault of the zoom by any large means. It is a shot that would make most lenses cringe.
The first one is with the zoom, the second one is with the 35mm. Very impressed indeed! I will be posting more on my flickr account and on the K1 pics thread going forward. For less than 400 Euros, it is a worthy prime.

Upgrade Question - Upcoming ASP-C Flagship or K1 Mk ii ?

I was in the same boat about a month ago.
if you live in Europe you can still get the k1 mark I for less than 1200 Euros.
I went with that coming from a K30 and totally recommend full frame over the apsc.
It is a freaking awesome beast. Even to this day the K1 is a top performer.
you will need some FF glass though to take full advantage of it.
Cheers

Thank you mate!! Took me about 100 x 30 second attempts to get these two. f11 @3200 iso x 28mm x 30 seconds. Was a couple of hours.

LMAO!!
I actully almost deleted this one as the JPEG was just a big white blob. But the RAW files on the K1 are a dream to work with!

It was a 12 second count away. Must have been massive up close!

Thank you !!

Rondec, very nice. I am really enjoying my DA40mm limited with the K1. Once you know its limitations and if you don't mind cropping off the vignette from time to time, it gives stunning results.
I have only used it for pics of the children at play and portraits. It is a fantastic lens for that. I don't post pics of the kids online, but will try to get some nature pics up soon from it as well.
Cheers,
TJWEST

I spent countless hours and money experimenting with these things in film days.
You have all the information you need.
Now go out and experiment.
Costs you only time.
Once you figure it out, make a video tutorial for the next guy so he can get what you expect.
