Nice picture. Great bokeh, but I have to agree on the confusing focus. I don't know which aperture you used, but it might be a good idea to use a smaller aperture to get a deeper field of focus (not too much though).

Not bad at all. However, if you could the eye, or the tip of the mouth (don't know what you call it on snakes) in focus, it would really be a winner.
It seems like both the subject and your camera was properly still during the shot, as the scales are perfectly sharp.

I'm for the B & W too. Actually, when I saw the first picture I imagined it would be better in B&W and voila, few seconds later the browser loaded it :-)

It's really a good picture, and a fascinating building.

Fireworks near Aarhus, Denmark

Inspired by some of the nice firework shots in here, I'll contribute with the following shot:

It's a crop of a larger image, which was taken using a tripod with the FA-100 F2.8 at F5.6, 8 sec exposure, ISO 1600.

Hope you like it :-)

I must say that from the 30 minutes I spend shooting fireworks, only very few came out well. I guess it was more difficult that I realized :-)

Getting PPB and PPL to work in Linux

I have tried Raw Therapee, and it is nice. But somehow it does not fit very well into my workflow. But I'll give it a more fair shot soon. I guess it all comes down to what you're used to work with :).

Getting PPB and PPL to work in Linux

Seems this has turned into a "what are you using on Linux"-thread. My combination is:

KPhotoAlbum as browser/catalog. A mixture of UFRaw and Gimp for dealing with those Raw-images, and of course Gimp for all editing.
All in all, I feel that I can do everything I want with that combination. That being said I would love giving Lightroom a spin, but that unfortunately requires SSE2 extensions on the CPU, and my rather old computer does not have that :(

Nice shots. The first one is my favorite, it has an interesting composition.
Kinda makes me want a fish eye to play around with.

Keep those fish eye shots coming!

This thread has a strange effect. gkopeliadis requested that we talk him out of buying the 10-20 lens. However, now it seems that I want this lens quite badly :o .

Nice image. Very clear and sharp. Love the B&W conversion.
I actually like the fact that the lower right part is out of focus. It looks as if the drop is on its way "down the drain", so to speak. However, I find the noise in the out-of-focus area somewhat distracting. But I suspect that it might be artefacts from resizing the image.

Can't really give you any advice, as it looks like you are already superior to me :D

Awesome series! I really like the colouring and lighting on the pictures. It shows that you had the Giant Outdoor Flash on full power :)

Looks like a really pretty area, and you managed to capture it very good. Though I imagine that it looks even more magnificent in reality.

So, here it is in Danish: Tillykke med muligheden for at vise dit kunstværk frem. Smukt billede!
(Congratulations on the opportunity to show off your artwork. Beautiful picture!)

Doesn't sound as good as french, but that's the best I can do :)

Great images. The first one is simply gorgeous!
I can't help being somewhat curious: did you create the panos by stitching or cropping?

Great shots.
I really like your B&W conversion.
The reflection in the first picture really make me think of the moon. And the B&W makes the mountain stand out.

That's really an impressive image. Would make a really nice poster.
Even though the plugin can be downloaded and used by us all, it takes more than just luck to use it correctly. Well done.
I think this clearly shows what good PP can do.

Thanks for sharing.

I couldn't resist playing around with HDRI, and ended up with this one as the best:

I think the result is interesting, but I guess I still have a lot to learn when it comes to HDRI :)

Thanks for pointing out the HDR-stuff, Andy78.

Cheers,

Århus is indeed a nice city :).
I think you're right that this is a good candidate for HDRI. I'm going to play a bit around with it. But I think I should have taken a couple of pictures with different exposures to get the most out of it.

Thank you for your comment.

I took this last week:

Taken with K10D and the kit lens. ISO 100, f/5.6, 1/125 sec.
Have edited it somewhat, especially to get the colours right.

What do you think?

I think you're right. I really should try to see how much I can get out of the three shots by regular postprocessing.
