And lets not forget that Pentax offers DNG raw as an option as well. As Adobe is the processing standard, that's virtually as "future proof" as it can get.

It is kind of annoying having a GPS, Astro tracer and Pixel shift, but a 2 generation behind AF system and a 16-50 and 50-135 that need a refresh in the SDM department...

I'd rather have the little flash than the GPS. I find myself taking the K5IIs instead a lot just because of it. Other than setting the time, I've never used the GPS...

This shot would not have been made without the onboard flash as an example:

Sorry... I really should. It's my go to lightweight weather sealed tele. 55-200 it's as good as a Canon F4 L IS and from 200-300 it's usable with good technique, like all 300mm's. So there's a 1 sentence review! :)

Not sure what my Youtube presentations have to do with any of this either?

At the end of the day, it's not a race. I hope all camera manufacturers do great and are able to continue making new and interesting products for us as photographers to use.

LOL, I'm leaving the house more and more with just a K3II and 21 LTD. Loving it!

From the link you posted:

"Moreover, if the demand of certain specific products such as professional-use videotapes and full-color models as well as export shipments to Xerox Corporation continues to be weak, then Fujifim might report lower revenues in the quarters ahead."

and,

"FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation is engaged in the development, production, sales and service of imaging solutions, information solutions and document solutions. The Company’s segments include Imaging Solutions, Information Solutions, Document Solutions and, Corporate expenses and eliminations. The Imaging Solutions segment consists of photo imaging, and optical device and electronic imaging products."

So I'm not really sure your article relates to camera sales. I read it as the videotape and color copier sales are off, and that's dragging the profits of the entire company down.

As for figures, according to the 5 year anniversary and launch presentation of the XP2 in Jan 2016, Fuji (cameras and lenses) have seen a 300% increase in market share in the past 5 years. The full presentation is available on Youtube.

Anecdotally, anyone watching the availability or lack thereof, of certain hot Fuji products knows they are having trouble keeping up with demand. The 16mm, 23mm, 35mm and XT2 have been hard to come by these past few months, sporadically becoming available and then selling out quickly.

"Sales of X Series were strong, reflecting such factors as new products launching sales expansion in Asian countries"

So how did you get that "the sales are down" from that sentence?

A large factor in the success of the Fuji X line is the size, or lack there of, of their lenses. So much so, that they rearranged their lens map in favor of smaller slower lenses, which are selling very well. The appeal of the Pentax system for me is the small aps-c limited primes. With IBIS, and iso 6400, the faster lenses are not as important as they used to be, at least for me.

So that makes 2. :)

One lens for a K3 would be the HD 21mm LTD.

Or the HD 20-40 WR if I thought I'd be in the rain.

Or the HD 15, 18-55 WR (or 20-40)and HD 55-300 WR if I had more than 1 lens. :)

Personally for a big trip it would be the HD15mm, HD 21, HD 35 and HD 55-300 WR with a K3II for the GPS for me...

One lens, really? :)

"...we have award winning professional support available..."

So is that just in general, or do you have a program specifically for professionals that use Pentax gear. Like Canon Professional Services (CPS) does for Canon, and Nikon Professional Services (NPS) does for Nikon?

Thanks!

Once upon a time a few years back I signed up with Pentax Professional Services and it was great to have Joe Virgil a phone call away if I needed anything. He helped me out quite a few times with the typical pro problems that crop up from time to time. I haven't had the need to call him in a few years, and with all the changes to the company, I'm not even sure he is still available...

Is there any kind of Pro Service Program available from Ricoh? And if not, any plans to implement such a program in the future? Even just a person with some ability to directly deal with issues for pros (like Joe) would be great.

Thanks!

Be interesting to see if the ice comes back in the next 5 years as we head into the down side of the solar minimum. Since 2010, sunspots have been active, and for the next 5 years they should not be. Sunspot activity is related to overall climate temperature.

pentax K3 firmware 1.30

Sigma lenses do sometimes require an update of the firmware to make them function with new FW or Cameras. My 10mm Sigma fisheye didn't focus at all with the new K3. it always didn't play nice with the SR on with my K5II, but the k3 made me want to pursue it further.

Long story short, sent it back to Sigma and they installed new firmware and the lens is 100% now on all my cameras. Took about 10 days from when I mailed it off until I got it back and no charge for the FW or the return shipping. I did pay for the shipping to them. Sigma has some of the best service in the business (in the USA,) and I would assume they are good in other countries as well, so don't hesitate to get in contact with them. Good luck.

Or you can also set it to not go to sleep, or a longer delay time before it does. Battery life isn't great, (compared to the APSC bodies) but it's not that bad.

Owned a few studios with photographers on staff and yea, we blew through some weddings... So yea, I have not personally shot 7500 jobs, but I have been responsible for delivering that many (or more) over those 30 years.

To put it another way, if those jobs had not turned out, I was responsible for them.

By the way, what have you done professionally in photography? Seeing as you seem to want to call me out on my credentials I think it's only fair you inform us of your experience in the professional realm...

The situation in the US is quite different re: photography.

And it's pretty easy to spot incompetent pilots regardless of testing or training, they're dead.

An argument from experience and authority is not as good as an argument from complete ignorance and arrogance. Everyone knows that. :)

Flip that around, how many morons do you see out there charging money, with their flash pointed straight up shooting outdoors in a field and their lens hood on backwards that got a camera for Christmas and think they know everything...

And anyone who thinks that someone who is qualifying what they say by pointing out they spent 30 years in the trenches is insecure or defensive and probably has a big chip on their shoulder for some reason. :)

I do know that there are many people intimidated by confidence, and that's a shame really. Because just like being a confident flight instructor (would you like to learn how to fly from a scared or timid flight instructor? :) ) there is much to be learned from confident people who care enough to share their knowledge. If you only take the time to be nice to them. :)

My biggest issue with internet criticism is qualifications.

For example, if there is plane crash and you ask me what I think, my opinion is probably more qualified because I've been an airline pilot and have been a Certified Flight Instructor for 18 years. The internet allows a car park attendant to tell me what a jerk I am and that I know nothing about flying publicly, without that person ever qualifying their opinion based on their experience parking cars... :)

Thanks!

Yea, the other problem is I try to make sure I always have something possibly interesting to say. There are too many videos out there where people are just running down the list of specs. :)

Thank you, it's appreciated!

I am definitely thinking about it. Full Frame is such an emotionally charged topic and even more so with Pentax. I have not done a video yet because I am being careful and want to be as clear as I can be when I do make one.

I did make a video commenting on the tilt screen and the lights, I specifically said in the video that I like the tilt screen and the lights, criticized them a little bit, and every one started telling me why I shouldn't hate the tilt screen and the lights.... :)

We live in a very polarized and amplified society these days.
