recently i did A3 prints from k-50 and they are ok, seems that even bigger they would still look good. therefore k-5 shots might be still great printed A2.

is it sure that this is exactly the same solenoid we need in k-50 cameras instead of the original green one?

MOATECH : COM

i could ask few tech people who might have some, because my k-50 is already beyond 55'000 shots and paying more than 40 bucks at ebay for it isn't too tempting. also i wouldn't risk to change the failed one for another green item, it can die just after few hundreds/thousands of shots again.

!thank you everyone for all the info. just realized that i got this camera already with aperture condition. the guy who sold it for 300 euros exactly 10 months ago didn't tell about aperture failure as well as about the 50'000 shots, which i found out very soon, but already didn't want to give camera away, it was in excellent condition and very handy. first check with sigma lens was done with auto aperture on, shots were way too dark, but at that time i still wasn't sure about the camera settings and thought i misused some fonctions and just went manual, as working with aperture ring is natural to me and letting camera to control it always is suspicious to certain level
however i'm thinking about buying the 12-24mm lens anyway, the price is too good. then to wait AAbattery holder for quick fix and then need to get the correct white solenoid. i have few tech people in mind whom i could ask about it. if financial situation would be better, used k-3 body from ebay could save the world. it will eventually somewhen in future. first thought was k-5, but it has no use for PLM lenses, and next on my shopping list is exactly that 55-300mm glass.
anyway i just can't get it why pentax/ricoh risked to save few dollars like this, it couldn't work well anyway.

thanks for quick reply. after a series of tests, indeed it does always go to f22 unfortunately.

interestingly i ordered one just a week ago, because the original battery now holds only 150 shots with manual focus lenses. will try this definitely. thank you for the advise!

!thanks. i tried this all day but without any success. maybe it's more damaged, than just lightly stuck. but i will try the AA adapter, perhaps that change can trigger some good results.

good that it works for you! here it closes even if wide open, but i figured how to do normal shots with f22. this is not a solution, just a way to check if this particular lens is optically ok.

there is a situation here: got a great deal - 230 euros for SMC Pentax-DA 12-24mm F4 ED AL [IF], but at the same time discovered that my k-50 has aperture block problem. before i used only old manual focus lenses and Sigma 28-200mm 1:3.8-5.5 UC Aspherical, but it's aperture ring never wasn't used on auto, therefore no problems occured. the owner gave me the 12-24mm lens to test for few days, so is there any camera setting which makes possible to use this lens despite aperture block?

!thank you. tones and textures were such because of interesting shade from nearest appletree, but the wooden details of house itself of course was enough rich in tone.

the dome cathedral behind buildings on the shore of the river Daugava

Riga Cathedral (Latvian: Rīgas Doms; German: Dom zu Riga) is the Evangelical Lutheran cathedral in Riga, Latvia. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Riga.
The cathedral is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Latvia, and is featured in or the subject of paintings, photographs and television travelogues. Like all of the ancient churches of the city, it is known for its weathercock.
The church is commonly called the Dome Cathedral, a tautology as the word 'Dome' comes from the German Dom meaning 'cathedral'.
The church was built near the River Daugava in 1211 by Livonian Bishop Albert of Riga, who came from Lower Saxony in northwestern Germany. It is considered the largest medieval church in the Baltic states. It has undergone many modifications in the course of its history.
David Caspari was rector of the cathedral school in the late 17th century. His son Georg Caspari also served at the cathedral.
Religious services were prohibited during the Soviet occupation from 1939 to 1989, and the cathedral was used as a concert hall.
In 2011 the copper roofing above the nave was replaced. In 2015 the tower exterior was also re-plated and its wooden support structure renewed.
The organ of the Riga Cathedral was built by E.F. Walcker & Sons of Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in 1882–83, and was inaugurated on 31 January 1884. It has four manuals and one pedalboard. It plays 116 voices, 124 stops, 144 ranks, and 6718 pipes. It includes 18 combinations and General Crescendo. A tape of Latvian composer Lūcija Garūta playing the organ for a cantata during World War II captured the sound of battle nearby.

!thanks again, reh321. you're absolutely right here. first - it was really gray day and the light was not enough for handheld shooting at basic iso. the colour was dirty white-gray with some pale, unimpressively yellow parts. so, in this case only b&w conversion could save the day :)
