Given current travel restrictions due to Covid, and not much hope of them being lifted any time soon, it's bitter-sweet looking through back catalog of places we have been & long to return. My contribution is probably self-explanatory: Frutillar, Chile with Osorno volcano in background. February 2019, K-5 w/Sigma 17-50 @ 21mm.

I'm a bit lazy and stack filters a lot more than I should. I've learned not to screw them in tight, but have had this happen on occasion. A filter wrench or rubber gloves should do the trick.

Lens unlock button K-5

Did mine a couple of years ago. It's a bit fiddly but definitely feasible. Take care when putting it back together as I didn't get it quite right & af switch jammed on me in Iceland, so had to disassemble & jiggle it a bit to get it right. Been going strong ever since.

KP Rented vs. K-1 II

I find the K1 while undoubtedly a great camera to be a 'brick' compared to the K5. Last 2 trips (iceland and antarctica) I took the K1 with K5 as backup and ended up taking loads more pictures with the K5 than the K1. Familiarity may have been a factor but K5 just seems more comfortable to carry around. Of course shooting weddings is different than hiking/shooting from zodiacs.

K-50 - focus mode stuck in manual

I had exact same issue on my K5 shortly after replacing the lens release button - camera registering manual focus, af button stuck on af-s. It happened on day 2 of a 5 week tour of Iceland & Greenland so was a tad inconvenient as I had to wait until I got home to make the fix. Figuring that I hadn't got the af lever positioned properly on reassembling the camera, I took the camera apart and lifted the front off just enough until I could easily move the af button - luckily I didn't have to completely remove the front as I wasn't looking forward to fiddling with the lens release button spring again! Then replaced the front & rest of body, testing the af button at each stage to make sure it was working properly. That was 3 months ago & camera working fine after another thousand shots or so since. Hope this helps.

Lens Release Button Steps for Repair

I've had my K5 since 2012 & never had a problem with it until on a recent trip to Norway the lens release button popped off into my hand. Luckily I retained the button & silicone 'skirt', and managed to get through the trip by leaving the TC on the camera to facilitate lens changes - not ideal but at least I got some pictures. After reading of the fix on the Forum, I sent off for the circlip from USCamera - $3.83 plus $4.25 postage! I received it yesterday, & with a trip to Iceland & Greenland coming up at the weekend I was a bit reluctant to start the job - just in case! However, as it will be my backup camera (to K1), & in the knowledge that if I messed it up I have my K20D to fall back on, I decided to give it a go. My hat goes off to the member who did it in 20 minutes! I found it to be incredibly fiddly - and I don't consider myself big handed - I dropped the circlip several times, but with the help of my wife and the bottom cylinder from a ballpoint pen, I managed to get the job done. I can't say that it 'feels perfect' - I'll do a bit more testing before setting off at the weekend but it appears to work - at least I can get a lens on & off, and AF etc seem to work fine.
So for anyone contemplating the same: I found it impossible to position the circlip using tweezers - it sprang off several times (& its really hard to find), so I taped down the button from the front & positioned the circlip over the piston end (inside the camera) by threading it onto a small screwdriver and with the end of the screwdriver meeting the end of the piston, maneuvering it down onto the piston. Balancing the clip on the end of the piston I then used the aforementioned bottom end of a ballpoint pen to push the circlip over the piston until it clicked into the groove - the hole in the pen was big enough to go over the piston but smaller than the circlip so that it applied even pressure all around. Note, everything said about the difficulty of positioning the metal spring-loaded-pin is correct - and I'm not sure I got it absolutely right, but the camera went back together OK so fingers crossed!
Thank you to all who have posted the previous tips & I hope my experience may help someone in future.

Just wanted to give kudos to the technicians at Sigma UK in Welwyn Garden City for great service on a K1 mount change on my 150-500 last week. Not wanting to trust my lens in the post, and as I was going to be in the area I contacted them to see if it could be done as a walk-in. Unfortunately the tech was in Japan for training that week but I could drop it off & he'd do it on his return. I dropped it off on thursday and true to their word, they called me following tuesday to say it was ready - I was hiking in the Lake District but driving down to gatwick on friday. Picked it up on way and looking forward to seeing what it can do on the K1.

I do not use Facebook so know nothing about its capabilities. I have no vested interest in WIX but am surprised you not impressed by it. You can build & publish a website for free if you don't mind a small wix banner ad. If you want yr own domain you can limit cost to $100 - $200 a year depending on chosen plan. There are loads of templates & useful free apps eg you can link to dropbox folders & you can limit access to members or have a public homepage & private members section. Of course it will require someone to put in the time to build it. I'm no web developer but I have created 2 websites using wix, one for our local golf society & a personal site. If you are interested in seeing them I can send you the links.

Thinking a bit more about it perhaps you could get by with a combination of a shared calender (eg teamup) and a dropbox account?

I get the message that you are happy with Word Press and I am not suggesting that you should use Wix - my original point being that if someone is prepared to invest a bit of time then it is perfectly feasible to get a website without costing a lot of $. I understand the need to make money, if it could be done with fewer unsolicited and mostly irrelevant ads so much the better. FYI, Wix has a free app called Google Adsense making it simple to link a google ad account/display paid ads and from my own experience they do not embed their own ads in paid sites.

My plan isn't to make money from the site (I was building one for local golf society, so decided to do one for myself). Others do, however. It's possible to embed http code so don't see why can't display ads and affiliate programs.

Kinda surprised no one has mentioned Wix. Maybe not as professional as those already listed (?) but plenty of templates and fairly intuitive. Plus can start with a free account (minor wix banner ad) until ready for own domain. Biggest drawback (for me) is that it is cloud based so need to be online to change content, and (I think still) no mobile app. But aside from annual domain & hosting fees it hasn't cost me $bigbucks. It's worth a look if you are willing to put a bit of time in - if not there are plenty wix site developers.

K-1 Firmware as shipped

I'd been putting it off for a while, but took the plunge before Christmas & ordered a K-1 with 28-05mm from B&H. Long story, but just received it on January 12th. Haven't had a chance to get out with it yet but on setting it up I was surprised to see that the Firmware was version 1.0. Not a big problem as downloaded & updated to 1.40, but can't shake a 'niggling thought' that B&H sent me old stock - or worse, a return. Anybody received one with updated firmware?
