Hi,
Ufortunalely, I am switching to the dark side (Canon). I thought there might be someone who switched from Canon to Pentax and have some unused lenses.
I am willing to trade my following pentax lenses with the Canon lenses.

I have the following lenses:

Pentax DA 12-24 f/4 =NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE=
Pentax DFA 100 Macro
Pentax DA70 f/2.4 LTD
Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 =NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE=

All of them are purchased in last few months from reputable sellers in Japan, they do not have any FF/BF issues, they are like new and with all the documents and boxes. They are in Japan at the moment.

and I am interested in the following canon mount lenses: (In order of preference)

Sigma 150mm
Canon 400 f/5.6
Tamron 17-50
Canon 10-22

If you are interested in trade, please send me a message. I can send the photos of the lenses and some example photos taken by them.

I have %100 positive buyer and seller feedback in ebay.

My 3rd copy of Tamron 28-75

Thank you for your reply. Considering all the "OMG this lens is impressive" messages, I guess I was expecting prime quality. After all, this is just a reasonably priced zoom lens. :o So far I can say I am satisfied with the overall results. But one should not think that this can be a replacement for pentax primes.

[QUOTE=Lowell Goudge;189621]

That is why I asked if the OP had decided that this was to be used specifically as a macro lens or not. He is asking for a rediculous performance out of an otherwise fine lens. and then bitching about it when it can't do it.

QUOTE]

Lowell Goudge, In my previous posts I accepted that I did not think about the flat field performance of such lenses. After some explanations from the posters, including you, I understood the limits of this lens. You repeated this a number of times in this topic. How can you still say that I am expecting ridiculous performance from this lens and bitching about this. I am sorry to bother you. Please do not spend your valuable time anymore explaining things to the posters who are not as knowledgeable as you if you will claim them bitching about the equipment.

Just for the record, newspapers are not my favorite subjects as well :)
Considering the sample variation rumors about this lens, I just wanted to make sure that my copy is not faulty so that when I shot some not-so-good photo, I blame myself instead of the lens.

Actually, I have never thought about this. However, I used the lens in the field as well. The results are not satisfactory. I have a 1:1 macro lens and I will use tamron as a normal lens.

I made the same test with wide open DA70 and FA35. They are perfectly sharp and focused even at the extreme borders.

I would be pleased if someone can post a similar shot with tamron.

2 weeks ago, I got a Tamron 28-75 from BIC camera in Japan. When I came home, I made a simple newspaper test realized that the corners were incredibly soft. Next day, I took it to the shop and asked for a replacement. They took some test shots by themselves and accepted to replace it. Before accepting the new one, I wanted to test it in the store. Unfortunately, it was worse than the first one and they did not have another sample. So, they refunded my money.

On my Trip to Tokyo 2 days ago, I purchased this lens again with the hope that the 3rd copy will not have this issue. I did not have time and I made a very quick test in the shop and it seemed fine. But when I came home, I realized that I was wrong. Now, I have a FF problem together with very obvious left bottom corner softness (centering problem I guess).

Now, the problem is, I do not live in Tokyo and I cannot take the lens to the camera shop for a refund or replacement. I really want this lens and I think the fourth copy will have a similar issue anyways. What I am willing to do is to send this lens to Tamron Japan and ask for a calibration. Is this possible? Do you know the contact adress of Tamron Japan? In their English section of their web site I could not find any contact information.

PS: I have a K10D which focusses perfectly with FA35 and DA70. I am sure that my K10D does not have a FF/BF problem.

I asked to sigma japan but they did not tell me the price and availability of 500 and 400mms.
They told that 50-150 will be same as C&N versions.

But my estimate is, 150-500 will be around 1500$. It should be more expensive than bigma due to OS. It has more optical elements as well.

Edit: We used to pay for the HSM that we did not have and now we have to pay for OS that we will not have.

DA 21mm f/3.2 Limited wobbles?

I think this is normal for DA limiteds. FA limiteds have more damped focusing.
But also thats why DAs focus faster than FAs.
I had DA21 which did not wobble but it had a slight sound as if something was being cracked inside. I would prefer wobbling instead of this. I returned it due to BF anyways.

These kind of problems with the 16-50 is killing the second hand market of this lens.
Of course it is also affecting the brand new sales but I would prefer to pay 800$ new instead of a 400$ used item under this circumstances. At least in case of a problem, I can get a refund or replacement.

Nice statistics.
Apart from statistics, I think now pentax has completed his primes until 300mm (though a fast 135 would be nice) and zooms until 250 mm.
Now they should make 400 and 500mm zooms and primes.

My professor was surprised and excited to see a K100D DSLR in my hand :)
He has been an asahi pentax fan once upon a time.

I do not know how true but, at his times pentax was still lower priced than canons and nikons.

My 2500 word essay on the K20D

At first, I was kind of dissapointed with the AF and FPS specs.

I think most of the people, including me, are missing some important point:
Pentax is able to make its own SENSOR. And not just some small stupid sensor. Apearently, it is a state of the art technology and it is at least head to head with the big twos latest sensors.

This means much more than a 20FPS at 14MP or 51 point AF. If you do not have a competitive sensor, those other specs mean nothing.
You know, the the biggest competitor of sony is pentax now. Sony does not care about nikon or canon for the time being. So, if I was the sony ceo and if was not obliged legally, I would never give the A700 or D300 sensor to pentax/samsung. So, then what? Simpe: Your limiteds would be nice door stoppers.

So, from now on, nobody can claim that Pentax is going out of business. Appearently, Pentax, Hoya, Samsung trio is doing somethings right.

I am sure (I least I hope :) ) now the pentax enginers are working on the new AF engine :)
