Don't make fun of the Pentax engineers not always delivering on time!
They both work as fast as they can ...

so if you didn't watch the video why are you so qualified to complain about their decision?
they made it very clear why they suggested it for the list, and also made it very clear that they were impressed with the k1.
this is camera of the year for 2018, ie any camera not released in 2018 is not to be considered. so why would you be so heartbroken that a good camera was selected for the worst list because it represents very little relative to the outgoing model. the new canon eos R is getting the same treatment as it's completely underwhelming as a successor to the outgoing camera (this does not make it bad). that's all the k1-ii criticism represents.

Could be the K-5850 ... as 01010 in base-18 is 5850 in base-10 ... base-18 as R is the 18th letter in the alphabet ... K-5850 could indicate a 51 Mega-Pickle camera ... sensor is 8775 x 5850 ... :D

Well.. they are working on K3 successor since 2013, while K3II looked like some stop-gap emergency release against D7200..
In fact they still have nothing but claims, which is horrible strategy. Apparently they are waiting until more pentaxians leave...
That K10D/K20D/K7/K5/K3 advanced APS-C camera line is more important for Pentax than KP+K1+645 combined. But it seems, that they have to touch the absolute sales bottom to recognize what old Pentax Inc. and even Hoya knew very well (and what Fuji knows also).
Hope they will manage to bring it sooner than 2019. It already is 2+ years too late.

K-5 II owner here and I've got no heartburn over KAF4 lenses not working on my body. Sometimes these things just have to happen.
This maybe sounds silly but I hope some of the focal lengths are actually "interesting" and not just "these are the industry standard focal lengths like everyone else offers". Something between 22mm and 25mm and then something wider than 20mm but I've banged that gong before.

It'll be fine. Seems like Panasonic is trying to get in on the sports market. Not sure how many sports photographers are truly looking at micro four thirds. Feels like one of the things most of those folks need is great high iso performance not just fast frame rates. If your image quality starts dropping at iso 1600, that is a problem in many sporting venues, even if you can shoot 60 fps.

The Red-earth highland is a photogenic place at Dongchuan, Yunnan, China. The old man and his friend were lit by the sunlight that shone and disappeared instantly because of the fast moving clouds on the highland.
Thanks for looking!

I own both cameras and I can see how they would tie. It's all about what the buyer is looking for in a camera. Do you prefer an OVF or an EVF? Do you need amazing build quality or do you prefer smaller and lighter over build quality? Are you shooting landscapes and architectural or will you mostly be shooting people, portraits, or street?
If both cameras served the same needs then I wouldn't have two different systems. Which camera is best depends on the needs of the buyer and both cameras are capable of professional results.

Dave thanks for the nice feedback, I hope that you will like other photos too :).
Paul thank you too!
I'm very glad that you like my works. K-10 is the best Pentax camera in color rendering thanks to the use of CCD sensor, I love it very much and can not part it, although I have also k-20 and K-5 IIs and K-3 and K-1.
Another photo taken with K-10
Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, Canada.
I didn't get good weather for photos because it was cloudy and rainy evening when I was there.

Wait, are you guys saying cameras and lenses can not only be bought, but sold too?
Sounds implausible. Then we would have less gear!

Because not all shoots are done under ideal conditions. If he'd been doing his shoot in a dilapidated warehouse on an overcast day instead of during the Golden Hour on Bondi beach, I would venture to suggest that he'd have brought a hardcore DSLR or MILC and some serious portable lighting.

Concur with this advice--you need a fast wide-to-normal lens.
If you don't want to pop for something like the Sigma 18-35mm, a cheaper option might be the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (also fast, and while not as flexible still more useful/appropriate in a crowded indoor venue than the 50mm.
Might think about renting if it's only going to be a couple of days.

Likewise I have no experience with Comic con but have been to plenty of car shows. I have almost always found that a wide angle is necessary, I have even found my 8-16 Sigma not enough. The problem is if you foot zoom then somebody always walks in the space between you and the subject. With 50mm you have to be a way back to get a whole person in the frame so plenty of room for intruders. Of course people at Comic may be more polite. YMMV.

Hmmm, that looks like a nice place to drive she said. I need a car she said.... So she stole a pretty one from the internets...
EDIT: I don't normally throw more than one "into the ring" but I was just loving this other color version so much I thought I'd toss it in with the rest .

Several months ago the plastic battery latch that keeps the battery from flying out when you open the battery compartment broke on my K-30 camera. I lust lived with the inconvenience until last week when I decided to see if a part was available to fix it. Nope. Ricoh refers all repair issues to Precision Camera, period. For that referral Precision Camera quotes a flat fee, never less, could be more and no they don't sell parts. Meanwhile, I had been reading about the sticky solenoid issue causing iris diaphragm to malfunction causing under exposed photos. I decided to check this although have never experienced the problem. I put the camera in continuous exposure mode and pressed the shutter release several time while observing the diaphragm. No problem until after the forth burst the camera ceased to power up period. Damn. Now I'm faced with a big buck repair instead of just an inconvenience. After calling the three or four repair facilities left I came to the conclusion that I would retire the K-30 (originally bought for video capability) and use my LG smartphone which is adequate for my needs. So being a retired electronics engineer I thought I would open up the camera and see if there was something obvious and after poking around I found the issue. It was related to the battery latch breaking. The latch is dual purpose, one to prevent the battery from flying and, two to power down the camera to prevent removal of the battery when the camera is on. The contact is held open by another piece of plastic that had broken, most likely by my poking around. A little judicious bending and the problem is resolved. Saved me scraping, repairing or replacing the camera. So iif your K-30 (and K_50) suddenly won't power up this is a possibility. You will need to take the covers off to get at the latch mechanism. My guess a repair shop will want to replace the entire battery box and you're looking at 2-3 hundred which makes repair debatable. Might be time for an upgrade.

I sure hope DSLR's will have a long and happy life. Due to my job i am required to look into a monitor at least 8h a day, so i hope i wont be forced to do so in my free time enjoying the nature or traveling randomly.
I am not a pro photgrapher and i only use single frame shooting, and i do not think that will change in the near future.
edit: i am a technology freak, would like to always have the latest and greatest tech, but sometimes technology ruins things.
For example i prefer the sound of vinyl compared to mp3 (although they are a pain storage wise), the sound of a high performance internal combustion engine, and the sound of the shutter and look of an ovf

If the pinhole plate is in line with the camera mount surface, the focal length will be the register distance of 45.46 mm. It the pinhole is a bit further forward, then add that offset to 45.46 mm. (You can use select that focal length or the nearest one for SR purposes, too).
If the hole is exactly 0.3 mm and flush with the mount, the f-stop will be 1/151.5 which is about a factor of 90 times or 6.5 stops dimmer than f/16.
Under the "sunny f/16" rule you could do hand-held pinhole photography with something like ISO 1600 and a shutter speed of maybe 1/15 or 1/20 second.
Good luck and let us know how it works!
