And disturbing. The op made an interesting point that seems to be completely ignored. A bit like trying to have a discussion with someone about the weather and getting a response about the flavor of blueberries.

There is an app called hyper focal pro that gives you this information. You enter camera, lens, aperature and subject focus distance, and it will show you exactly how much of the image in front and behind your subject are in focus.

It is at that. The new has never worn off for me, and I don't think there is any camera I have enjoyed using as much.

Favorite non-Pentax camera?

This may be cheating a bit, but my favorite non Pentax camera is the Ricoh GR. My other would be the Nikon F3. I love them both for the same reason: they represent what happens to a product when it is refined over multiple generations to near perfection. They feel and operate very differently, but are equally amazing to use.

Beautiful. I would love to see the original ooc file. Anytime I see a nicely processed photo I am always curious as to its starting point.

On Ebay, you can also refine by completed items. The prices of those that sold will be in green and those that did not will be in red. For an item as common as the LX, you will get a very good feel for the prices people are paying.

My2= M iso200, aperture priority for quick exposure
My3= Macro TAv= pinpoint focus with grey scale magnification on.

All 3 My modes are raw+ and have other custom default settings.

K1 - Firmware things that would be nice to have

This philosophy needs to change. Give me durable over-built bodies that can be upgraded within reason via firmware. Hell, I'll even pay for firmware if the upgrade is substantial enough.

Try it with the exact same subject. You will probably find that the traditional long exposure look is superior to stacking. Of course this just my opinion. I did this with a GR for a few waterfalls and, hands down, I prefered the looks of the long exposure. I wish I had kept both so I could show a comparison. Maybe someone else has done this with good results and can post samples and explain their technique.

GR II and dust

Dust is a pretty obvious issue. IF it happpens, warrenty repair should not be a problem. I shoot a GR and take no special precautions to prevent dust. I have not had a problem yet. If you took an extra step and kept it in a case or pouch, you would eliminate any potential problems. If you think it would be a great camera, then buy it and shoot it. To not do so because of some vague/debated issue seems a bit overly cautious.

Don't get bent....just a jab at the k-1 transition from mythical to real status. I see now that this is a hyper sensitive issue for you. My apologies. Let's get back to the reality (or hoped reality) of the k-1 features.

If a fixed lens is still an option, the GR is a stunning little camera. It is an absolute joy to use; with a cool combination of intuitive controls and ability to customize. The icing on the cake is the crop sensor in a pocketable body, paired with a great lens.

Weather Sealing

Wow....responses all over the spectrum here, and very typical of most threads of this ilk. The solution is simple: require all claims of water resistance to be verified and presented to the consumer in the terms of the IP code. The current model allows marketing twits the latitude to write checks with their hype that the engineering does not support. This is bad for consumers and company reputation. Ricoh can sure as heck make a dlsr that is rain and mist proof and then back it up with an objective measurable statement that consumers can follow with confidence (or at their choosing test the limits of or ignore all together). Pentax brand even goes as far as having 2 levels of weather whatever tied to their mid and upper tier lenses! Give me a break! I feel sorry for the consumers duped by this crap. I feel even more sorry for those denied warranty claims, or if the warranty is honored, having to pay shipping fees and deal with the train wreck that is the repair cycle. When I wire a 10 amp breaker I know exactly what gauge and type to use based on the environment of the run. And these codes and standards apply to something that costs a few dollars per component.

Rant over....
