Which Pentax lens do you most enjoy showing off to friends?

Okay I'm in, just like many of you, the small but great DA 40mm. I've owned it for awhile and the images just make me smile. Sorry for the rhyme. How diminutive it looks on my K1 it's had many look strange at me as I shoot. From close focus to wide it captures the moment every time. I hip shot my son in a barn at Bodie National Park and captured his face in such starkness in low light my wife was wowed. One of the many great Pentax lenses.

I to thought it was cool to see a KM in the High Score documentary. At the moment it shows him snapping a picture the subtitle reads, "It stimulates your brain."

Do I sell DA lenses to fund a DFA lens?

I have several DA lenses , but none were ultrawide. I decided on the F 17-28 and FA 20 as my go to on full frame for wide angled shots. For landscape, I like the colors and focusing of the F 70-210 and it's good for portraits as well. The only thing you will lose with the DFA 15-30 is weight as these others are not as heavy. I don't own it , but from the looks of it, it is a very nice lens. My backpacking gear is the FA 20, DA 40 and F 70-210, light and compact. Hope it all works out for you.

Precision fixed my lens but sent me a quote before and lucky for me I had only spent $200 on the used 50-135. In the end I got a working lens that feels good for another $500. Sorry yours seemed out of your hands and not what you thought you should pay. I could have bought a new 50-135 for the total price I paid, but i was okay with it.

Its a crapshoot but with a little investigation you can find a gem. Small dust isn't a problem where haze and crystallization can ruin a lens. I in my youth bought some cheap lenses that had haze in a circular pattern that didn't obstruct the image. As I grew in my photography I looked past these for my own reasons but still shoot with some vintage glass that has its shortcomings. I bid on lenses whose barrel maybe scuffed or worn if the glass and its focusing are still rock solid. Russian made lenses are good for this. Good luck

K1 and heat will it shutdown?

Thanks for your responses. I was using manual focus and live view with an FA 20. The sun had been down for an hour and I had been shooting in day light with the lens just prior and it was fine. i setup composition on a tripod at 25 seconds iso 2500 f 13. The focus with live view worked until I tried shooting and the camera would not fire. I tried mirror up, turning off and on, taking the battery out and reinserting, checked if autofocus was on, tried 2 and 12 second lag between exposures and still nothing. I then took it off the tripod and tried to shoot at a light source of a fire 1/4 mile away. Nothing. Since i've been home it hasn't happened again. Maybe just a change of scenery is all it needed.

K1 and heat will it shutdown?

I recently went back packing and had my K1 inside my tent. Temperatures during the day got upwards of 94 degrees so the tent may have been hotter. I took the camera out to shoot the comet and some stars at night, but it would not fire. It jolted as if it was trying to focus and shoot, but it was dark and I was doing the focusing. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Did Pentax Asahi make a m39 to k mount converter?

I am asking if Pentax Asahi had ever made a m39 to k mount converter as I saw one for sale recently but could find no info that they had ever made one. Many other makers make such converters, but you can't get infinity focus with these. If anyone knows I would be very grateful.

I recently got my Epson Stylus R2400 back up and working since being isolated and it still prints good photos, but at the price of ink it may be used for only smaller prints. Going to a local lab and printing larger stock can get expensive, but if you only do it once in awhile its a better deal.

Do you like the unique design of the K-1 lcd?

I like it on short tripods when I'm doing astrophotography. The screen articulates just right and the red screen helps for darkness adjustments. It has also been helpful when in a crowd but the camera can get weighty. All in all if it could close itself it would be the only safety net for the screen.
