I definitely like the lighting in the second photo.
As usual, the Sigma 10-20mm delivered great results for you.

Why I will buy a K-3 III

Yes, the K-1, now the K-1ii, was designed for that "domain" {type of work}. There is no reason for you to wait for a new camera that may or may not provide the functionality you want.

I'm not sure how the GRiii, which comes out next year, is a better peek at the future than the KP and K-1ii, which came out last year and this year respectively, are. Most of the stuff "new to GR" in the GRiii were pioneered two years ago by the K-70.

This depends on what kind of shots you take. Articulated screen is preferred mostly by those who shoot video, while tilting screen is preferred by those of us who shoot street scenes.

I think the KP's tilting screen is just fine, and the KP also has WiFi - so touch screen is main improvement over the KP you're asking for. From what I've heard most users are more interested in larger buffer, dual card slots. top LCD, and K-3-type body.

I'm not worried either - the questions arise when TSA has to be assured.

Thank you for your comment.

Incidentally, I left the smallest grip installed on my KP, and I had no trouble taking these photos with the 55-300mm lens @ 120mm; I've also taken a few @ 300mm.

That is what is most interesting to me. Is this the sale I've been watching for that indicates the K-70 is at the end of its run.....

What I've been exoecting is a similar markdown on the K-70. If they do a KP markdown again, I'll be really confused about their intentions.

35mm Focal Length?

Focal length of a lens is needed for IBIS and AF.

If your lens provides AF services - such as screw drive {like your Pentax-FA lens} or in-lens AF motor - it will report focal length to the body; otherwise (*) body will ask you for that value when you mount the lens.

(*) Thus, when I used a Takumar, Pentax-M, or Pentax-A {which does have an "A" setting}, body would ask for focal length.

I purchased a K-30, shutter count = 2, from them for $250. It was my primary camera for 3-1/2 years.
Back when I obtained it, it was a Godsend for me.

Pentax KP Now or Wait?

I think ergonomics of the KP are great. I have the third e-dial configured to control ISO, so I can control all three components of the so-called "exposure triangle" without lowering the KP from my eye.

Pentax KP Now or Wait?

I have absolutely no idea what Pentax is doing next year, which is why I ultimately purchased a $700 KP. I have no idea when, or whether, they will release a 'flagship' APS camera. I also have no idea what KP prices will look like in the future. I have used only the small grip on my KP, and yet it has worked very well with the DA 55-300 PLM lens.
Peace and War - PentaxForums.com

I anguished here in public about waiting or purchasing, and finally decided I couldn't be sure we would ever see $700 pricing again.

added: If I were interested in a camera, I would check their "12 days"
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/94-pentax-price-watch/380254-12-days-pen...web-store.html

Sooner or later they're going to run out of Ricoh merchandise. Even a K-70 @ something like $350 could be a good deal.

I noticed 3 squirrels together outside my window; I don't usually see three at a time, so I went to grab my camera. Just after I took the photo, I sensed motion and instinctively took the second photo. The motion was so quick that the yard was completely empty within a second or two, and I wasn't certain what I had until I looked at the photos. Apparently one squirrel assaulted the second, and the third decided to leave first and ask questions second.

note: as I took these photos I realized how quiet my KP is compared to the K-30

Problem with that reasoning is AF occurs before exposure and Noise Reduction occurs after exposure; I can see how "offloading" might work for video or burst shot AF after first frame, but not in general.

First time they've disclosed 'accelerator' is included in GRiii.
They have openly talked about the 'accelerator' in the context of DSLRs.
