I replaced the kit lens with the DA* 16-50mm, the f/2.8 aperture give you a little more creative room plus you can shoot in the rain :)

You know it's overdone once the people look like they just came out of a coal mine.

Nice set. Film truly adds a character to images that most digital shots lack straight out of the box.

Second shot the best one of them all with the blue headlight streak but the cars parked on the driveways are distracting. I think the compositions are a little too centered and otherwise lack interesting subjects.

Set a -ev compensation (slight underexpose) when shooting anything with that much black otherwise your camera is gonna wanna turn it grey and everything else in the shot will come out looking overexposed.

Neat seeing a train that old still in operation!

Great shot, very smotth buttery bokeh plus the bit of red in the back truly makes it a good shot.

I think there could be a little more emphasis on the view from your balcony, rather than a shot of it. The balcony is a little too new and clean for an interesting shot, unless of course you're trying to sell your house :P

The shot is ok but I think it could use a little more contrast. The view inside of the garage is also distracting.

Welll, ummm congratulations I guess. You've managed to amuse the pasty white folk who would walk across the street and hold their purses tight as soon as they saw these evil colored people coming down their way.

But don't worry, they're not racist, they have tons of black friends...lol.

I think the crops are a little too tight and the first and last shots have way too much space above her head. Second to last pic is the best one IMHO.

Nice shot of what looks like contrasting subjects - a homeless person and a businessman rushing off to somewhere. An all too common sight in big cities but a superb capture on your part.

Definitely looks like that typical, bright, midday California sun that I've come to hate as a photographer, lol. It casts harsh shadows all over the place and find myself having to use a fill flash because of it.

Nice series of birds though.

Many great shots and I like the color of all of the greens and I don't know if its just me but some of them look oversharpened. Still a great series though.

I think that is a great shot and the centered composition works well. Looks like quite the interesting place to visit someday and with a KFC to boot, lol.

I did the same as soon as I got my MBP...nothing but a card reader has been in there the whole time. It's flush with the chassis so it's not like it gets in the way either, though at 15" it's not something I regularly carry around so I use it more as a mobile desktop replacement. It also doesn't seem as shock resistant as a business class HP or Thinkpad laptop.

The third one is the best though I think they all lack contrast/levels adjustment.

First one has no definitive subject.

Thanks all for your replies and input! We've decided to reshoot a few of the menu items (no spoon) so that there is more focus on the food.

I did get to have some Pad Thai and egg rolls after the shoot :D

Epson 1400 won't print this photo correctly..is it icc profile problem or cleaning?

I got a purplish color cast the first time I printed with the 1400 and simply removed the color management from within the print settings in Aperture (with genuine Epson ink). In XP You might just have to hunt for the setting that removes the printer color management or sets it to off.

I shot the food for my friends restaurant over the weekend...first time shooting food so I really didn't know what the heck I was doing especially since these were to go on the menu but I thought a few of them came out ok. Comments/critique will be greatly appreciated!

Should the spoon be there or no? Is it better to include the whole bowl or just the food?

k20d + DA* 16-50 and shoot-thru umbrella
