Man B: Air.
Man A: Good. Now try pronouncing the word 'h-a-i-r'.
Man B: Hair.
Man A: Excellent. Now try the word 'l-a-i-r'.
Man B: Lair.
Man A: Splendid. Now put them together and what have you got?
Man B: Air, hair, lair.

Finewoodworking Magazine in the late '70s published an article by someone who was tapping live trees and attaching buckets of dye to colour the living wood...sort of reverse 'maple syrup collection'

Crumbs Mark...your place needs a paint more than mine and mine hasn't had one since 1974 !
(not too worried as it is a very early Lockwood with Aluminium sheathing and while the paint is a little chalky it is still all adhered :) )
If you're having such fun building that pizza oven I'm sure that we could all prolong your enjoyment..:D I have a space marked out whenever you're feeling glum and need some fun....:p:p:lol:
best,
bob.

Give that man a medal.:)
Not only was he working on the information available to him but was acting in your best interests by not leaving you a wet parcel !!
Our mailperson would have done the same but for the good relationship we have formed by being appreciative of their desire to do well.
We regularly leave home-preserves and thank-you tipples in our rural box. We leave our updated contact numbers and have arrived at a 'horn-toot code' to advise when a parcel is left.
We treat our mailperson as a decent human and valued community member. They reciprocate by going the extra distance to ensure our parcels are delivered in a timely manner and when raining they walk to our designated safe spot on the porch and leave our parcels.
As we have now both shared phone numbers we can co-ordinate deliveries where the item may be of high value or need special care.
This smooths and speeds their day and makes us both feel we have a working relationship rather than an antagonistic don't care anonymous clash.
Cheers,
Bob

(As a child listening to this on the 'top 40' radio I imagined them as unkempt bearded hippies and was totally shocked to find such clean-cut lads many years later.)

There Ross ! :-) Your lockdown curtailing of the normal 'jet-setting Ross ' has given you a distorted view of the local Timaruvian conditions...having nothing to compare with ... :D:p

The milko in Westport NZ 1960's name was Jesse James... no kidding !
Family visit to rellies there and early morning wake-up to assist with 'road clearance' for benefit of the vegetable garden...shovel and heap of steaming dung later.. :-)
