Thanks for the faster response. Trying to repair SMC Takumar 50 1.4 which is in excellent cosmetic condition. It doesn't do infinity focus even with the original pentax M42 adapter. The barrel is smooth except in one place and I don't know whether that is related to infinity focus. Didn't have the heart to throw this gem away.

Just want to know what kind of tool set I need to open the internal lens assembly. Couldn't use the small ones I had. Any info on what and where I can get this would be great. Thanks.

Thanks your reply. That extension tube (#2) is the one I put it on in order to get it in focus. Without that tube, everything looks blurry.

Hopefully some one will have an answer for my problem. I bought a Helios 44M-4 from a local member hoping that it would match or excel my Helios 44-3. Put the genuine pentax M42 adapter and tried. Got no focus and very blurred picture. Something told that it could be the lens register distance problem. Then I tried it with a #2 Takumar M42 adapter ring and voila, the image became clear and I was able to adjust the focus. The owner told me that nodoy did anything and the lens looks like new. I bought this under the assumption that it would work just by screwing it in the M42 adapter. What I am I missing? Does this model has limitations with the M42 mount? My 44-3 never had this issue and it takes beautiful pictures. Any ideas? Thank You. |
