I dig! I feel the motion blur brings a very creepy element to the photo. I really like what you have done. I like the frontal lighting as it washes away quite a bit of detail and produces more of an ambiguous figure.

I generally only use a liquid cleaner after an accidental finger/palm print marks the glass or dried water spots. Living in the Pacific Northwest, always out in the rain... Other than those two instances, it's usually just a bit of dust on the lens so a blower usually does the trick.

I've definitely have used a dab of dish washing liquid on an old lens that I've picked up for cheap. I'm not trying to be too serious about cleaning of a lens, just merely pointing out that a bottle of lens cleaner can last much longer than most people think. Most of the time all I need is a gentle cleaning with a clean microfiber cloth.

Get some true lens cleaner and don't look back. Everyone has their preference of brand. When I finally splurged on a bottle of Pancro, I've never been happier. No matter what bottle of cleaner you get, it should last you quite some time. Unless you have a nasty habit of thumbprinting on your front element, you should really only need to do a dry cleaning most of the time.

Most likely not by the looks of your IMDB! ;) You've got a great history, there, and on some of my favorite shows, too! I have much respect for the sound department, especially since I just wrapped on a feature recording audio. I'm so used to pointing a lens in a certain direction til it looks good... waiting for airplanes and nearby screaming children...... I hope I never have to work in sound again...

If you don't consider Park Chan-wook a skilled filmmaker, then I'd hate to take a peek at your DVD collection... ;)

I know the kids who produced the film And Uneasy Lies the Mind. They are skilled filmmakers. They work in Hollywood. They have access to bigger and better cameras than the iPhone if they needed it but they chose the iPhone to keep their budget down and because it suited their needs for the film. Personally, I see it as a marketing gimmick. And guess what, it's working. They're getting more and more press because of it and even an article in American Cinematographer.

Like the article says... "(Insert Chase Jarvis’ “the best camera is the one that’s with you” quote here.)"

I can't remember the highest shutter speed at the moment, but the RED cameras have a great selection of speeds to choose from. They definitely allow up to 1/1000 or higher to help freeze motion. They can make excellent stills, hence the DSMC (Digital Still and Motion Camera) that RED calls their cameras.

For work, I pull quite a few stills from our Epic footage, and nearly every frame of slow motion footage is crisp enough to use, so long as you select an appropriate shutter speed.

I'm not really sure. I've always assumed they were for 35mm. I've only done some minute web searching trying to learn more about these lenses since I discovered the article this evening, and I really can't seem to find the official tech specs. If anyone were to find them or any other bit of info about them, I'd love to learn more.

What I find a bit funny is that this article is from August. I have not read anything about anyone shooting on these lenses since they've become available. I know, as a filmmaker, that if I had the opportunity to touch these lenses, I'd be bragging to the whole world for days on end.... I'm going to have to start looking around to see what modern footage has been captured with these beauties....

Very cool!

That's correct. But I'm sure they would be plenty of fun if one were to be able to mount them to an SLR. ;)

From what I've read on Barry Lyndon, the Mitchell cameras were modified to take these lenses and were rendered useless for the traditional BNC mounted glass. I think it was 3 brand new Mitchell's they "destroyed" just to adopt this glass.... if memory serves me right.

4K is indeed coming. 4K monitors and TV's are starting to flood the consumer market at affordable prices. The VP9 and H.265 codecs are allowing platforms like Netflix and YouTube to stream 4K video at a data rate pretty comparable to the current 1920x1080 standard.

Hell, I even read that 4K porn is rolling out.... Prepare yourselves for an increased detail overload....
