Flash Exp Comp or camera exp comp?
Posted By Big Bob

AdrianM thank you for your reply. It hit nail right on the head. My question derived from my use of the flash to fill in in back light contrasty conditions. I was getting pretty good results with the flash except in a few images the subject still needed some additional exposure. So its sounds like I should boost the flash a tad as the background is exposed properly. Again thanks.

Flash Exp Comp or camera exp comp?

Trying to figure out which to use or both. If you're using the onboard flash and you want for example +1 stop, should you set the flash exp comp, or the camera exp comp. Within the camera is there any connection between the two. Would a combination of both ever be advisable - say in a fill flash situation?

Any light you can shed (no pun intended) on this would be greatly appreciated.

06 Lens March Phone only Special

I thought I would make folks interested in the 06 lens aware of a special at B&H. On several web pages that I go to, the sidebar ad for B&H said "March Promo call only", so I did. Although the sales rep didn't know what I was talking about when I mentioned the promo, the price he quoted was $50 less than the price I have been seeing forever on the their site. So I pulled the trigger.

I'll be looking for that old post that describes how to put a shim in the focus ring to tighten it.

GR TVa question

This "problem" with TAv mode has been discussed on a number of forums. The user manual on pg 42 states "The ISO speed will be locked to [Auto] when in TAv mode.". As you noted, this is not how the camera actually operates. As things stand now there is no lock or limit except the max ISO of the camera. Some believe the camera operates correctly, and the manual is incorrect. Others, myself included, are convinced that the manual is correct and that TAv mode is essentially useless without a lock. Also, I would go so far as to say that [Auto} should be expanded at user's setting beyond 800 to either 1600 or maybe 3200. The 800 was appropriate in previous models due to small sensor size, but with the GR's sensor size there is no reason to limit auto to 800. I, and some others, are hoping that a firmware update will "correct" what we see as a problem. Hope that clears things up.

Exposure compensation with auto iso
Posted By Big Bob

I have found that for street photography I like to set the K01 on manual, fix the f stop and shutter speed and let auto iso adjust for exposure. What I would also like to do is adjust exposure compensation, but the K01 won't allow me to do that when in auto iso. Any ideas on how I can accomplish this some other way?

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Q view finder on K01

Thanks for the input folks. I posed the question because I just bought a K-01 and already had the viewfinder for a previously purchased Q.

I tried out the viewfinder today with a 21mm da ltd on the K01. It worked out very well for street shooting. Because of the nature of street shooting, I was using the viewfinder to point more than frame, but it worked out very well. Subjects seemed to be centered just as I had shot them. I was very pleased and will continue to experiment.

Is anyone using the Pentax View Finder O-VF1 sold as a Pentax Q accessory on the K-01. If so, what is your experience? Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Nice time lapse work on this thread. Here's a time-lapse of a busy intersection in Pittsburgh. About 350 shots, one every 10 sec's for a little over 1/2 hour. Used K-5 with 16-45 zoom.

JVA59 as a former 'burgher I love your shots. I have cycled in Polish hill many, many times. If you go to my site you may enjoy my shoot of the
church and I have a shot of some steps. Where are your steps taken from? Don't recognize where they are. Good work!

Northislander, Thanks. I agree the in camera filters are lots of fun. I have to watch I don't over due it. The HDR of your shooting buddy really pops. Good work.

Michaelina2 - Thanks for the run down on your workflow. I think you have convinced me to move from CS4 to Lightroom.

Crewl1, thanks for the kind words. The overhead is indeed a shot of a bunch of newspaper boxes.
