I'm not Hasidic. In fact I'm not the least bit religious and everyone here knows it. I've been here 20+ years and have never had a problem with how I've been treated.

While I cannot confirm with 1000% certainty they're the same lenses with different skins, I do know they all sell reasonably well and very few are returned for complaints about quality control issues. They come in, they go out, very few come back.

We have no idea why dpreview closed the comments to this thread. They maintain they're editorially independent from Amazon. I've never seen anything to suggest otherwise. The suggestion B&H might have threatened to sue is ludicrous.

More accurately, hundreds, perhaps thousands of companies - many far larger than B&H - tolerate those logistics despite the inconvenience and expense.

A couple I used to be friendly with lived in central NJ. He commuted daily to Philadelphia. She commuted daily to mid-town Manhattan.

I joined this forum in 2007 but I've been online for B&H since at least 2000. Rather than "the company line" I try to provide factual information. From time to time that may suggest I disagree with another forum member's opinions, and in fact I may. I try to distinguish facts from opinions and when offering an opinion I try to support it with facts.

Indeed.

Couldn't agree more. This was Robert Moses's fatal flaw. We have the Throgs Neck Bridge because the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge (two miles away) was congested. Now, instead of alleviated congestion we have two, equally congested, bridges. Folly.

What driver? I drive my decades old Honda Civic to the local train station where I take a Metro North commuter train to Grand Central terminal and then take two subways one stop each before walking the last 2-3 blocks. And I suspect you have no idea if any or some or all our warehouse employees own cars. You're making a lot of fact-free assumptions in one tiny thread.

While I am not surprised to see this, I remain disappointed that so many seem to accept these untrue allegations as gospel. B&H is not moving our warehouses to NJ capriciously and we are not doing so because of the union.

We CANNOT keep the Brooklyn warehouses open. As long ago as 2010 our Navy Yard landlord told us no lease renewal would be offered. Steiner Studio was (and is) scheduled to take over the space. The issue has not been whether or not we wish to stay but that we have no option and cannot stay.

Our search for new space was aided by the largest tri-state commercial real estate company and by the NY Economic Development Corp. Despite our efforts and theirs, we were obliged to expand our search from NY to include NJ.

Since the original vote on the union was Nov 2015 I think the dates speak for themselves.

The current boycott is being promoted mainly by two groups, one an independent labor-organizing group unaffiliated with the union, and the other a group which describes itself as a “socialist organization.” Most, if not all, the demonstrators outside our store have been from one or both groups, not former or current employees.

I don't know the mileage offhand but on a typical weekday I get into my car to drive to the train station at 7:30am and arrive at my desk between 8:55 and 9:10. The average, each way, is 90 minutes.

---------- Post added 07-24-17 at 12:41 PM ----------

There is no benefit to management in the loss of qualified multi-year employees who have established their value and reliability. Every current employee in our warehouses has been offered the opportunity to continue working for us in our new facility. Some have already begun doing so. Any employee who declines will receive a severance package.

PS According to Google maps the distance from Florence NJ to Newark airport is <60 miles.

Are B&H and Adorama extended warranties the same?

I've asked our buyer about the two warranties. Regarding Consumer Reports -- I've read what they have to say. They're opposed to the sort of cheap extended warranty that does noting but make the duration the warranty is valid longer.

But a warranty from something like Squaretrade, not one of those the OP mentioned, is another matter. it covers a great deal more than the manufacturer including owner carelessness and other eventualities the manufacturer's coverage excludes.

We appreciate your frustration. When a customer returns a product to us he or she states is defective it is returned to our supplier. If you want to be doubly sure, order and pay for another grip and then return the one you have for a refund, not a replacement.

You've raised two issues. That's the 77mm Pentax lens cap 31516. List price is $19.00. Our price is $12.50. The markup is not as grand as you might imagine. Other 77mm lens caps are available starting at $4.65. They do the job as well.

The second issue is the packaging. I cannot disagree. That does seem like overkill. I will share this with the warehouse manager. Thank you.

At Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Foot Controller MIDI FOOT CONTROLLER FCB1 we say, "Expected availability: 7-10 business days." My best guess as of right now is the end of the first week of May.

Don't forget -- for US customers paying with a credit card we don't charge the card until we actually ship. You can place an order now and bide your time.

The space we're moving to in NJ is 500,000 square feet. The spaces listed above would barely function as linen closets in a house that size.

---------- Post added 03-27-17 at 03:02 PM ----------

You're buying media hype designed to accuse us without any proof or evidence. Our lease in Brooklyn is expiring and we do not have the option to renew. That space has been too small for a couple of years now, so even if we could renew we'd be inclined to look elsewhere. The space we're moving to is 500,000 square feet.

This has nothing to do with taxes.

In 2013, Crain's said we'd already been looking for larger quarters for several years. The union vote was Nov 2015. If we started looking for new space a couple of years before the 2013 article it should be apparent these plans were in place before the union ever raised it's head.

After exhausting our search options in NY, including assistance from Jones Lang LaSalle and the NYS ESDC, we turned our sites further afield. It was not optional.

The owners have NOT moved to the suburbs and have no plans to do so of which I am aware.

BTW I've got nothing against unions, per se, and understand historically how they've benefited workers, particularly in NY & Detroit, but then there's this.

I'm sorry you feel this way, particularly since so many visitors thoroughly enjoy their time here. I will offer these observations: Fridays (particularly as closing time approaches) it gets busy. Sundays are always busy. OTOH Monday or Tuesday, especially before mid-afternoon is relatively bucolic.

Fridays we close PROMPTLY at 1:00pm EST or 2:00pm DST. Our hours and schedule. Monday, April 10 - Tuesday, April 18 we are closed.

The Skylight Diner, (across the street) is a nice place for lunch or a snack.

The store is a couple of blocks from Macy's and that's a couple of blocks from the Empire State Bldg.

Do you just use a case for your camera or use a camera bag? or both?

I bought my first Domke F2 decades ago when I started shooting professionally. At the time it was the only bag in Jim Domke's lineup and he was marketing them by word of mouth. Somehow Pop Photo's Bert Keppler got hold of one and wrote about it glowingly so I bought one sight-unseen.

For me it was perfect. Held two Nikon FM2n bodies with MD-12 motors, up to 6 lenses depending on length, plus a Vivitar 283 in one end pocket and a brick of film in the other.

I never used a case because getting the case off to change a roll of film was deadly. No pro I knew used a form-fitted camera case (often called "speed cases" even thought there was nothing speedy about them).

Nowadays I travel lighter -- often it's just the camera with one lens attached hanging off my left shoulder.

Shipping concern

I'm sorry for this inconvenience. There are several reasons we'd ship an order in multiple packages. Size/weight is one. In order to ship whatever qualifies for free shipping without charging you a s&h fee is another. Shipping from two warehouses is yet another. I'd need to know the B&H order number to check but the fact is it's now en route so what will be will be for this one and we are sorry it's inconveniencing you.

Benefits New Jersey customers can anticipate, as soon as our new facility is up and running we will be able to extend order cutoff times for free next day delivery from 3:30PM/4:00PM to approximately 7:00PM. In addition, we will have a new customer pickup option for New Jersey customers who need their orders right away. Finally we are actively exploring options for same day delivery to large parts of New Jersey.

---------- Post added 01-23-17 at 01:22 PM ----------

That's an option B&H offers our Canadian customers to simplify their paying cross-border fees and speeding final delivery. You can opt out of this and handle those fees on your own.

B&H No longer shipping darkroom chemistry

In the wake of the ValuJet Flight 592 crash on May 11, 1996, the federal government began cracking down on safety regulations for many different chemicals in airplane cargo holds. We don't ship ground so every order has to conform. We elected to observe the safety restrictions scrupulously and the result is a range of chemicals and similar items we cannot ship. Compressed air products like Beseler Duster fall under the same restrictions. More recently there have been similar issues with lithium batteries.

I am sorry this is new information for some of you and regret the inconvenience it causes.

BH not offerening extended warranty anymore?

IMO it's worth noting the Pentax option only extends their existing warranty to three years and includes one free inspection. The original manufacturer's warranty doesn't cover a lot, but the Squaretrade options (while more expensive) includes options with coverage for drops and spills plus shipping costs both ways.
