I wouldn't jump to Fujifilm just yet. Their colours while lauded by reviewers are fake looking, ie, not true to life and their lenses are still quite large and some pretty heavy. I think m43's is better if you are looking to downsize.

The 11-18mm is welcome and the HD FA 35mm F2 is also welcome albeit pretty underwhelming. Really new lenses should be coming with built-in motors.

I have the FA 35 F2 already and have to admit new coatings are probably a good idea. It's colours are definitely old school compared to the DA primes. Rounded aperture blades if they've changed them would also be a good idea.

I used to own this lens. I think it is normal. It's pretty bad for lens flare.

Hi. Have a look at my post here as it might help you. At the bottom of my post #1 there is a link to a pdf I created. Pentax K1, Godox AD200, Godox XPRO and Cactus V6 II: HSS Setting Instructions -

However, I suggest getting an XPRO-P and forget trigger stacking. It's just simpler.

Wider AF point coverage would be great. If they could make it cover a greater area than the Nikon D850 they could have a class leading camera.

Better Af-c would be nice.

Finally how about an upgrade to video?

It's pretty much a given high ISO will be at least KP level.

Real innovation would be a hybrid viewfinder but thats a dream.

Well, the thing about Fujifilm is that you have to like X-trans. For me it's highly overrated. In fact, I don't like it's colour at all really. Generally colour seems too contrasty and unrealistic compared to real-life. Each to their own though. They seem to have convinced internet reviewers.

Why wasn't there more fuss made about the KP's newer sensor?

Well by all accounts both the K70 and KP have a far superior sensor to the K3 cameras.

I have a KP and for indoor shooting it leaves my K3 in the dust.

Good summary Des. The basics are simple to use and easily accessible.

I think usability though comes down to usage. While they are easy to use it's still easy to forget.

I always make sure I give myself a few minutes to re-familiarise with how they work before I do a shoot.

Two subjective questions for KP users

Colours from ccd are different and arguably better. I loved the colour from my old K10 but the sensor was a dust magnet, AF was slow and iso topped out at 800.

You will find KP vastly superior in high ISO and AF. The viewfinder is definitely superior although it can't compare to the K1.

If you use large lenses though the grip is likely substandard. You really need the battery grip for mid and larger lenses.

The user interface is great and I like it more than the K1.

Af point coverage is a current weakness if DSLR technology no matter what the brand.

Certain brands have progressively increased the number of points but coverage even in class leading models is still limited compared to mirrorless.

This is one of the real benefits of mirrorless.

It's pretty similar to the K3 if marginally faster in AF-S. I have not tried any action shooting in AF-C but by all accounts in AF-C is vastly superior to the K3 series. See review here on this site:
Pentax KP Review - Focusing | Reviews

I usually go to the Australian Tennis Open each year and shoot a lot with my K3. If I go this year, its probably a toss up between the KP to give it a good test run in action shooting or taking my K1 and shooting in crop mode. I might take my K3 one day to compare but I certainly won't take two cameras on any one day. Later in the day higher iso is required so the K3 is not such a great option.

I probably wouldn't buy a KP for AF-C improvement. It's value is really in high iso, customisability, newer standard inclusions like wifi and tilt screen and smaller size if that's your kind of thing. Because of the interchangeable grips it's kind of like two camera's in one. If you use the small DA primes it becomes like a mirrorless and if you like larger zoom lenses, add the battery grip and it's much like a K3 or K1.

There are plenty of diehard K5 and K3 users who underestimate the KP.

I for one really enjoy it.
The three biggest improvements for me over a K3 are high ISO, button customisation and the third control dial. Once you've set up the KP how you like to shoot it is such a nice camera to use.

Like you, the large grip and battery grip make a big improvement with larger lenses.

Xpro-P TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Pentax

Here is my understanding. If you update the firmware of the 860 II to that now supporting Pentax these flashes will work in PTTL if used with the XPRO-P. However, if the 860 II (N, C,F, versions, etc) mounted direct on a Pentax camera even with the updated firmware they will be manual flashes

Yeah, it really simplifies things. Its great timing for Pentax as with the evolution of Godox triggers it means that although we've had to wait a long time we've ended up getting the best Godox trigger so far.

Cactus V6 & Pentax AF201FG - they work together!

There is a big difference between the Cactus V6 (original) vs Mk II other than hss.

- Original V6 supports analogue ttl flashes; while
- the Mk II supports digital ttl flashes.

Some people think the Mk II must automatically be better but the flashes that each support are fundamentally different. A number of people have bought the Mk II only to realise they should have bought a Mk I.
