Point and Shoot Competition #129 - Structure of Stones|

Thanks for all the entries. All photos are beautiful but actually 4 of them are spot on to what I hoped to see and those are the Breakwater detail by Bart, the tęte du chat pavements by Jacquot, the brick wall by Barondla and the big pebble stones by kwb.

It wasn't easy to choose a winner, but I noticed that I kept going back to the first entry.

Congratulations Bart, you're the winner of this #129th competition.

Thanks Barondla, I love it and though to some it might seem 'just a brick wall' I can look for hours to this kind of photos because there's so much to see. Actually each stone in itself shows a beautiful structure and composition.

Love your structures too David. Funny thing is that I thought with the second photo that I was looking up to the sky until I saw 'loose' stones in the air LOL that was the moment I discovered I was looking down in mirrored water. I fear I will have a hard time judging at the end of the month.

Very nice photos Alayois and yes it's indeed a structure made out of stones, but that's not exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for the structure of the stone itself, not the entire building. Closeups of the surface of stony things, pebbles, grit or whatever. Like the examples below.

Just leave your photos here for others to see and enter some new ones for the competition.

I love structures and especially those of brick or stone walls, natural stones, gravel, pebbles, street stones, whatever. Everybody can find something stony I think. So be creative, step out of your comfort zone and show me some beautiful stony details.
Edit to add: not photos of entire buildings made out of stone.

OMG, I just came home from a fishing day at the trout pond. Little competition with a group of fishing buddies. Didn't win, the fish were hard to catch. Never thought I would win this 'glass' competition LOL. Thanks Cipher and if you want it on your wall I can send you the original.

Give me a day or two and then I'll post a new competition. This one was great with a lot of great entries.

I think converting the original to B&W and then play a little with curves and contrast could've done the trick. Like Bart said, the polarization in the background looks just a bit overdone. The artwork is beautiful though.

Ok, here we go. Not really spectacular, but it's glass :)
Photo 1: inside a old farmhouse that got demolished to make place for an extra water reserve area in case the big river nearby should flood.

Photo 2: broken windows, taken somewhere in Belgium at an old place.
Photo 3: old beer bottles, taken in our own barn just after we moved in.

Maybe I can explain it this way: the main subject in this competition should be furniture in whatever form. In your photos (beautiful as they are) the main subject is your dog. As I see it, correct me if I'm wrong. Very lovely puppy by the way.

Photo 1: In the Netherlands houses that can't be sold for a while are temporary rented out to students so the house will not get squat in illegally. My daughter lived in a few of them in her student days. Rent was very cheap, but you were not allowed to paint or do anything else to the house.
Photo 2: Once I had to liquidate my aunt's estate, this was the guestroom.
Photo 3: My daughter moving out of one of those temporary houses and got stuck between the furniture.

Love all entries so far. Mine will come soon. Sheep related of course because that's all what I'm doing these months: travelling through my country to inspect the sheep of our members/breeders for the pedigree book. My Ford Transit van is making lots of miles on the weekends.

Nostalgy can be found in this little village Orvelte which is kept like it was centuries ago. It's a museum village very popular with the tourists. I visit it every year when I have to inspect the big village sheep herd. I couldn't resist to add a few words.

On Ascension Day it's a tradition in my area of the woods for the draft horse clubs to make a tour with their horses and old wagons/coaches all dressed up.

My country is wellknown for its windmills and just last weekend (May 12 and 13) was National Windmill Day when about 900 windmills opened their doors to the public. This one is an oldie I came across when travelling through my country some time ago. I lost the original photo when my external harddrive crashed and somehow the exif got lost on this one, but I know I took it with my Sony Cybershot.
