I think the Celica only went down hill after they stopped offering the AWD All-Trac models. I own a 93 ST Celica and would love to get the All-Trac version of it some day.

I mean processing can only polish a turd so much. Either it's decent or it isn't. I noticed with the powershot the only thing it was really correcting was some fringing, distortion and noise suppression (while adding a crap ton of sharpening :D).

What are the insulation properties of solar shingles compared to a regular tile roof? I've always assumed it'd be pretty poor and any benefits from having panels as shingles would be kind of lost.

I'm not one for looks I'd probably just use regular panels.

---------- Post added 08-12-22 at 02:41 PM ----------

They will generate something. But not enough to power anything substantial. That and the relative angle of the sun to your latitude is why having solar panels far north is just kind of a waste of money.

The value won't go down much on a used lens if at all. Can just flip it relatively easily if you don't like it.

An 86 is not an 88. The 86 is famous in pop culture and is rear wheel drive. A 1988 model is front wheel drive and has no such prestiege. The one he was listing was worth 1500 tops, and that's in this market.

Someone local wants 10 grand for a 1988 toyota corolla gts. People think if it's old and not completely falling apart it's worth something.

When I was using this canon I was thinking to myself "ah this is why the point and shoot market died to smartphones". As even my dated Droid X from 2010 probably matched or beat it.

It's a shame Cybershots don't have the same hacks to allow raws. My Sony DSC-H20 is quite a good camera in good light (and sometimes not so good light :D).
Part of me wishes Sony had made the original Rx100 with a CCD sensor since I think their EOL CCDs were better in terms of IQ than their earlier CMOS.

Well I tried to get the most out of it. This camera sure is a stinker. Lens is just unapologetically bad and no dynamic range to speak of.

Another difference is the gears on the focus/aperture. This allows an operator to "pull" focus and aperture with a tool to exact positions allowing you to consistently do scenes over and over again.

Any macro from pentax's lineup will do, you don't need a pricey one or even a 1:1. They're all sharp and will out resolve most film stock. What matters more is properly lighting and framing your film.

I'd recommend picking up an older light table, one with replaceable bulbs inside so you can get the color temperature to your liking. Personally I use a Logan desk top light box, which while not entirely uniform across the large surface is perfectly suited for slide copying. They should also be very cheap on the used market.

For that pricing I wouldn't consider it. For 15-20 bucks it might be worth your time just for fun. I still got burned once by a broken 50-135 I got here on the forums that on top of the advertised fault also had a shattered rear element. Finding replacement parts for modern gear is basically impossible even if you do have the capabilities.

PetaPixel: Pentax May Have Lucked Out as Nikon and Canon Leave DSLRs Behind

The point wasn't whether cameras can take photos conveniently, the question was whether they're good enough compared to a dedicated system for someone who would are actively into photography. Sure my phone is good enough for documenting something or taking personal photos, but they've been good enough at that for over a decade. When I see something that would have been a nice photo with my camera but I don't have it with me I don't just turn to my phone every time because I don't need to waste my energy on a photo I won't like. Sometimes I'd prefer just to be in the moment and not take a photo at all.

So I will reiterate. Phones are not close to dedicated cameras at all. We can change the goal posts all we want and say that people don't care about the quality differences but we all know attitudes change over time so who knows what people will think in 5, 10, 15 years. The fact of the matter is you just can't take certain photos with a phone. Period.

I don't understand the complaint. Film cameras operate on analog mediums? Plus the spotmatic is fully mechanical and the metering system is analog just to top it off.

Though I guess if we want to be pedantic cameras really went to an era of hybrid tech with CCD sensors being analog and all.

I feel like I'm being gaslit or something because I still think phone photos suck. Sure it looks ok at web quality but so did my photos on my hacked note 2 10 years ago. The one inch sensor ones are getting better but still struggle greatly compared to a bigger camera system with larger lenses. No I don't think an iphone is even in the same universe as a dedicated camera system.

I have no problems recommending Pentax because even if the company vanished tomorrow there's plenty of back catalog to keep me shooting for a long long time.

I started using Pentax in 2014, much later than most people here I'd assume. I've had no issues growing as a photographer and I've never worried about the longevity of the company.

Yes avoid modification of the solenoid. A lot of times that fix only lasts a bit. The replacement really is not a difficult repair especially on the k500/k30/k50.
