They have said it addresses pf, not “just because” - good for a ‘teaser’ I would think.
For more details, we may have to wait for the actual release announcement.

If you can get a JPEG from him taken by the camera in question
{some sellers are more than willing to provide an example} you can submit the photo to
Check Camera Shutter Count and Manufacture Date
which provides manufactured date as well as shutter count from the EXIF

To answer your questions: any of your lenses usable on the K200 should also be usable on the K-70.
The DA18-135mm is a fine lens, although I must admit that a DA 20-40mm Ltd has recently replaced a DA 18-135mm as my most used lens.
However, I’m curious about the build date on the K-70;
there are questions about the durability of the early units.

The DA 18-135mm was my primary lens for awhile - now I have a DA 20-40mm Ltd which I use more. although I still have the 18-135mm.
Either is a fine lens, and each has a motor which has been completely reliable.

My first digital camera was a Canon compact. After ten months, I determined it was too inflexible for me, so I declared to be a ‘failure’ and purchased a Canon Rebel. I just now realized that there are some unspoken words between here and considering a new camera. What are they? Why are you considering moving away from your current situation??

I understand having issues with camera weight - but I am 74 now, and lugging one by foot is becoming a problem for me.

We live within a mile of the entrance to the County Fair Grounds. Until recently, we would walk there, then all around the Fair. Last year this was an issue for me. This year, my wife suggested that we reduce stress on my body by driving to the fair, but instead I carried my “Q” kit {which weighs about 1/3 what my KP kit does}, and I did OK. Honestly, I can’t imagine a healthy youngish person who would be bothered by the weight of a camera kit, but I take you at your word. Unless you are going to lug a wide, long lens with you, many MILC camera kits would weigh less, but I will not make a recommendation, because I’m not in the habit of spending other person’s money. Just make a decision, and then live with it.

added: The lens you mentioned is an exception. Modern Pentax lenses with in-lens motors are ‘great’ {as Tony-the-Tiger would say}.

Sticky: A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY: Development of the solenoid in Pentax cameras

As you know, shutter count seems to have zero effect on developing ABF.
The real issue seems to be calendar age of use.
Once a lower tier camera body is around two years old, it seems to be a candidate for ABF,
because it seems to had time to magnetize the solenoid.
I purchased my K-30 with a shutter count of 3. I used to think that it had developed ABF ‘early’ despite my using AA batteries,
but perhaps it developed ABF late since the process of magnification may have started before I ever got it, and my use of AA batteries may have delayed the inevitable.

I remember one between the two {since I own a K-30, I have followed this closely}, but it doesn’t matter as long as the most recent one works.

As far as I am conserned, there was no noticeable difference between the original solenoid and the first two mods
Only when we got to the third mod was there any serious improvement in performance.
I also would expect a camera body manufactured in 2017 to have whatever solenoids Pentax had in inventory,
so I am not at all surprised that they used one that didn’t ‘work out’.

That is all I was basically saying.

I purchased a KP on “Black Friday” 2018,
because I distrusted the solenoids in K-70’s sold new then.

It all depends on what you call “later”.
I don’t remember exact dates, but I wouldn’t call failure of a unit manufactured in 2017, or even late 2018, to be “news”.
My recollection is that the third redesign came out this year.
Perhaps @photogem can assign approximate dates to his chart.
Only failure of a unit with a manufacture date of ‘2022’ would seem like “news” to me
{for one thing a unit manufactured in 2022 wouldn’t have had time to magnetize yet}

Super Program disassembly

I believe a special spanner wrench is needed, but I would be leery of corrosion after all these years.
My “Super Program” {which I purchased in 1983} still works, so I have no interest in “improving” it.

Should I expect solenoid failure on a K-50

I just purchased a “FA” zoom lens - which allowed me to set aperture at the lens - expecting to need it at some time. It was light enough for me to carry around in my bag. At this point I wouldn’t worry about it - I believe the latest Pentax solution works, so I would simply purchase a K-70 and continue with life; life is too short to worry about it, and the K-70 is relatively inexpensive.

How do Pentaxians handle their massive photo library?

My photos are JPEGs classified by subject; for example the higher level is divided by where we lived, and within each place there are collections by subject {home, nature, etc}, then by subject {one for each location}, then by each year. My heirs can keep the whole “tree”, or only the branches they care about. In general, they started out for me.

But it was never a permanent solution, since the number of white Japanese solenoids in existence was always limited and someone had to look for them.

Bulging D-L109 Battery - Replace with real Pentax or is Brand X OK?

Apparently, the underlying problem was magnification of the metal parts of the solenoid.
If I understand correctly, the AA batteries actually created less force at the time {more amps but less volts} but the permanent solution was to provide less total metal structure to be magnetized, and it took a few trials to figure out how to make that to happen.
Filing did make that happen, but it left lots of surface area to be corroded, so that was a solution, but not one that would last permanently.

“Lack of power” and “fragile” don’t go together.
A stronger battery would actually be bad for something that is truly fragile.
I believe the studies by @photogem actually show the solenoids have too much strength

I had thought of getting one of their “ribbons” for my “Q”. Possibly more likely if I could get it directly from Ricoh. Less likely if it turns out to be a ‘one shot’ thing.

I purchased a Spotmatic recently with a 50mm lens.
I preferred that combination because I prefer wider lenses, and Takumar 50mm lenses are readily available,
even though 55mm seem to have been common ‘back in the day’.
