It means "root" directory, i.e. just place the file on a formatted SD / SDHC card, without any folders. It should work.
Hope this helps!

Thank you all for links...
One more feature added to K-x, compatibility with SDXC cards, most other cameras at this price point do not have.... and Canikon cameras boast about it as feature on the high end cameras...

Try to find this video tutorial on youtube
phototips shooting moon
it is a tutorial from james - bcphoto.biz, great podcasts are available for download from itunes or his own site PhotoTips - Photography Tips by BC Photo
His Podcast is a great learning tool. search for "phototips" on itunes store.
PS: I have no association with this website. Just found it to be a great learning tool with my new K-x

Sorry for raising the thread so old, however I have the same question and cannot find a satisfactory answer in the forum or on internet.
How critical is this factor, planning to buy a flash and want to make sure that it is full featured and lasts me across multiple bodies.
Pentax AF540FGZ - 1/1 power is ~1/1200 sec
Metz 58 AF1 - 1/1 power is ~1/125 sec
Appreciate comments / feedback on this.
Thanks.

This is way overrated / talked about issue... there are serious issues in all makes of cameras google D90 Hot Pixel issue or D5000 had 2 recalls, every manufacturer has defects however all said those are wonderful cameras and so is Pentax K-x, it gives D90 a run for money which is almost double the cost and is in a different class all together.
I did following test ... please let me know if the testing process was right or I can do something else...all shots were hand held, I shot images with text on those so Blur / double images are easy to identify ..
and Please note - It is recommended to turn off SR when mounted on tripod.
1) SR on , TV mode - Shutter Speeds 1/30 to 1/200 at 55 MM - No Blurring / double images - Horizontal camera position
2) SR on , TV mode - Shutter Speeds 1/30 to 1/200 at 55 MM - No Blurring / double images - Vertical camera position
the picture I took was of a Moisturizer bottle and had a lot of text written over it, I think it is easy to spot blurring on text rather than on anything else.
I did not find any blurring or double text on pictures at 100% crop... so I think at least my camera does not have this issue.

I did following test ... will post cropped pictures soon, however please let me know if the testing process was right
1) SR on , TV mode - Shutter Speeds 1/30 to 1/200 at 55 MM - No Blurring / double images - Horizontal camera position
2) SR on , TV mode - Shutter Speeds 1/30 to 1/200 at 55 MM - No Blurring / double images - Vertical camera position
As I took the shots indoors ISO was set to 3200, so I can see slight noise at 100% crop due to high ISO, the picture I took was of a Moisturizer bottle and had a lot of text written over it, I think it is easy to spot blurring on text rather than on anything else.
I did not find any blurring or double text on pictures at 100% crop... so I think atleast my camera does not have this issue.
Please let me know your thoughts or any other tests that I need to do...
Thanks.

Just got off the call with Adorama, this need not be on same receipt as camera, save all receipts - camera and warranty and Pentax would honor it.
Also they expect to get the cards in next 2 weeks.

I never buy extended warranties, broke that rule just now... as it was too good to pass it up for 30 bucks...
Just had a chat with Pentax Customer support, I bought the extended warranty for my K-x, he mentioned that it would be honored as long as it was purchased within 90 days of camera purchase. Also it covers the entire Kit - lens and body as shown in the receipt.

thanks for feedback friends
@agsy - yes I think glass partition was esp. not clean as well, so that contributed as well. - Used a 55-300mm DAL - Kit lens.
@ ash - Thanks, would work on that.. still getting used to weight of a DSLR... |

Have heard that a 50MM is a must have lens for any DSLR owner, I am a newbie, starting to add to my collection.
So this will fit without any adapters? any other recommended must have lenses.
I am interested in taking pictures of Landscape, my kids (Potraits) and Macro.
Thanks again!!
