Beautiful shot. A little bittersweet because Sedona has become so heavily developed.

Drexvil: I feel your pain. I, too, have been cornered into photographing my brother's wedding on December 31. I have exactly as much experience as you do, and, frankly, I would rather eat nails. So, I am glad for your timely question and for all the great responses.

Thanks for the replies. I suppose, as suggested in some other threads, the hood might provide some lens protection.

I know I shouldn't use the lens hood when I'm using the built-in flash on my K-7. But, should I use the hood whenever I'm using external flash?

Excellent capture. I've been wanting to see one of these in person, but, as KansasHorizons indicated, I don't think we'll see any of these hanging on top of Mt. Sunflower!

Blue About Blue Pictures in "P" Mode

So many of the pictures I take when the camera is set to "P" mode have a heavy blue cast. In the attached example, the wing portion in the lower right hand corner should be white. It's as though the pictures have been taken through a blue filter. I've searched the forum but haven't found anything on this, which suggests to me that the cause is so basic that no one else has repeated this error. Can someone enlighten me, please?

I'm new to DSLR, and I just wanted to let other novices know how much I am enjoying the Magic Lantern guide for the K-7. I'm one-third through the book, and I've already picked up numerous tips that aren't contained in the Pentax manual. It's a great supplement for newbies like me.

Update: Kingston confirmed the cards are not authentic. I emailed the eBay seller and received a full refund in my PayPal account within one hour. Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket today. :D

Don: lesson learned. As I indicated, the seller had a lot of positive feedback, and the packaging (if these are fakes) is very convincing. But, I now notice there is no serial number on the card, unlike the authentic SanDisk card that came with the camera. I'm going to try to call Kingston to see if they can confirm whether these are the real deal or not.

Dragonfly: I thought maybe you had hit on something because I actually didn't format this card in the camera initially. I just popped it in and started shooting. But, after formatting it in the camera, the problem persists. I have, however, isolated the problem to just this one card. So, I'm virtually certain I have a bad card.

Just took some more photos with this card, and I'm seeing the same thing on those pictures. The missing pixels are in different locations in each picture. I'm starting to suspect a bad (or counterfeit) SD card. I bought two of these on eBay from a seller who had a lot of positive feedback. I'll try the other card and see what happens. The write time on these cards seems to be slower than the 4GB Class 4 SanDisk card that came with the camera.

Hope I'm posting in the correct forum. I'm a new K-7 user, and the attached photo excerpt is one of my first attempts. I am wondering about the cause of the missing pixels or dropouts in the areas I have circled. Any thoughts/explanations? This occurred on at least two other photos. I used the Green setting with a new Kingston 16GB SDHC Class 6 card. I had just brought the camera outdoors, so I don't think low temp is an issue.

Workingdog, I outdid you. I got a free 4GB memory card along with the free sling bag on my K-7/18-55WR/50-200WR order. :p Very pleased with BH's prices and service. The sling bag is handy and meets my needs for now.
