Despite what anyone thinks of DRTV (I happen to really like it and find it entertaining), they are by far and away the largest photog YouTube channel and provide tremendous exposure.

The Mitty (formerly The Walter Mitty Challenge) has grown to be the second largest historic motorsport event in the country after Monterey. Over 450 cars raced over the weekend. MG was the featured marque this year. We had a few weather challenges this year but it was still a great event.

This Shadow was sooooooo cool

If you ever visit Savannah and River Street, the island across the river is Hutchinson. I worked for a construction company located there a bazillion years ago.

Lens cleaning recommendations

There is nothing wrong with babying your equipment, it's your stuff! I assure you I am properly anal and take care of my equipment but if I am shooting and notice a fingerprint on the lens, more than likely I will just wipe it off with a shirt or whatever. The point of me mentioning this is that I know I am not the only one  and modern lenses (can't stress that enough) are really tough... They will be just fine. None of the cleaning methods mentioned will scratch the coating much less the glass. Although, I wouldn't put any solvent on my lens. The only things that will scratch the glass should be protected by the lens cap.

Pentax smc DA 55-300mm v Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG OS

I owned the non-OS APO version of the Sigma and, if it has not changed optically, the Pentax is better in every way. At 300mm the Pentax is much, much sharper. The Pentax is also much smaller and lighter.

is this FUNGUS in my lens?

The problem is that there are only two items in the listing that I would consider of value, one of which is covered in fungus. I'm not sure you know what to look for and I believe you inadvertently misrepresented the item because of it. A direct question was asked and answered here:

Q: whats the detailed condition of the lens? ex; fungus, dust, dirt, scratches, oil, focus ring, aperture ring, etc. thanks. Nicole Jan-22-13
A: The details on these lens are om the description ....the only thing wrong with one main lens is the thread I posted very clear pictures on the damage thers no fungus , a little tiny bit of dust maybe , its not dirty .....there light scratches on the outside of them same lens ..again see photos ..but its not on the lens ...the focus rings run very smoothy as they should ...it pretty much says it all in the description please reread it and make sure to view that one pic of that damage ..thank you for your interest ...oh and the leather cases are really nice ...very soft...thanks again ..hope this helped you out some ...

If you do not know much about an item or don't know what to look for, state that in your listing and answer. If the other bidder had won the auction, I assure you they would have been upset as well.

All this random 'liking' has created a free love, hippy atmosphere around here that I am not comfortable with. I am therefore making the decision to no longer visit this forum until after lunch. I'm not angry, just hungry.

That's typical of every forum on the internet. Usually, the unwritten intrawebs protocol is to post "hey, I like that but I have to spread reps around". Also, there is very little 'freedom' on a privately run website. FWIW, I gave you reps just based on how bizarre your post is.

To show that I am a total dweeb, I would like to point out that F1 cars actually have a hand clutch to move from a stop. :D I want a vette too and also worry about not being able to afford one until I'm older. However, my dad finally got his in 2003 (torch red, vert, 6spd). He still loves and drives it on the weekends... I think he drives it so he can clean it every time. Anyway, I once asked him what he thought about being older and driving a sports car and his response was "the great thing about getting older is that you don't give a **** what anyone else thinks"

Why is Pentax neglected?

So all of this is over the fact that Nikon doesn't offer MLU on their entry level cameras and a few other misc. features? Canon does but it takes too many steps to enable the feature? The K-30 does not have a dedicated MLU but will function with the self timer, just like most (if not all) Canon Rebels. The similarly priced and marketed K-5(II), D7000/D300S, 60D/7D all have this feature. So I don't understand how this makes Canon and Nikon products "so bad"? One obviously disgruntled consumer among millions of happy ones calls an entire product line "junk"... that is a broad generalization.

I just switched from Canon to Pentax because I preferred the K-5 to the 60D/7D. I'm not about to call those Canons junk as that would be a lie. The Canon forum is photography-on-the.net, btw.

Since you are new to this forum, as am I, I was trying to warn you that there are many, many members here that shoot multiple formats. This is something that is not as common in the Canon or Nikon worlds, so you may find it appropriate to choose your words carefully... or not, I don't care.

Maybe this is a culture difference, but I read this as "I'm trolling for an argument; take the bait." I'm kind of regretting the fact I did.

It is strange how bidding on identical items takes off for some auctions but not others. Typically if I am bidding the item will go for over normal going rate. If I'm not paying attention, it's half off.
