Lightroom 6 on an iMac

My Dell laptop crashed after many years of super service. I learned digital processing on it with Elements and Lightroom through several iterations. It was the top of the line 15" media edition. Any way I was a able to reload my Lightroom 6 on the the iMac but of course all my files are saved on a remote disc in the pc's different format. Two things I need info on: 1) I have been able to copy some images from the WD to the Mac, But not all. When I import through Lightroom the images seem to get shuffled a bit and one of my main files for work doesn't even show up for the import...I have to adjust it after the import. I guess I'm asking for a recommendation for a manual that is specifically written for using Lightroom on iMac for someone who has used pc forever. Any suggestions. 2) I would also like to get all of my images into a file formatted for Mac.

jatrax: Photo cards are what I am working on now. I think your suggestion for outsourcing the prints is well worth considering. Thanks.

Simplifying: I used an R220 for desk work and a Stylus Pro 3880 for large prints. Well, my little 220 has finally died and I have used the 3880 so little that the inks are not working well, even after cleaning the heads a few times. At $53 something each, replacing 9 cartridges is out of the question. Looking at the 1400 and I see the inks are similar (maybe better) but there is only one black ink.

Any comments?

40mm Limited "binding" mount

I bought a used 40mm Limited. When mounting it to the body it seems that the lens is binding. None of my other Limited lenses (or any other Pentax lenses) have this characteristic. I sent it in for repair at Precision. The service guy called me awhile ago and said they checked it out, compared it to other 40mm mounting, and determined that it is "the nature of the beast" so to speak. They checked focus and are returning the lens this week.

What is your experience with this lens?

Kristie from Precision emailed me to say they are treating my 40mm repair as a warranty repair. If it is Precision that Ricoh requires us to use then Ricoh should require them to secure their system.

I just sent a 40mm lens to Precision in CT on 3/24. I used my credit card to expedite the order. My bank called today and said that my card has been compromised :(. Not having used my card for anything lately and looking at their website's address, it looks like it is not encrypted. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I contacted Precision, but we all know that works(?)!

Gemini Lenses

I was just gifted with a very clean Super Program with three lenses. The first is the well known SMC Pentax-A 1:1.7 50mm. One is a "Vivitar 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6 Macro Focusing Zoom Lens" (PK-A/R)? and the other is a Gemini 1:4.5 80-200mm Macro MC Zoom 55. I'm not finding much about the Gemini.

The Vivitar 28-80 pretty much crapped out in the reviews. Does anyone know anything about the Gemini 80-200 #M840217720?

I gave my K10D to my granddaughter after she graduated HS and is heading off to the Airforce. We're hoping to have a sesion before she goes to Japan, and then the service. Simple: K10D with the original 18-55. I can't wait untill she returns already.

1. that my K-3 repair Precision received on July 1st is on it's way back to me?
2. that my K-3 will be repaired correctly, so quickly?

Unbelivable!:D

Got it back: 7/7/16
Seems good. If possible, the shutter "noise" seems to be smoother sounding, lower pitched(?)

Sent my K-3 to Precision today. I bought it at Adorama last October. The shutter shudder happened once early on and last Saturday while doing some continuous shooting. I hope it doesn't take too long and that it will be corrected. (Is that generally the case? It is corrected?)

serial number: 6221XXX
firmware version: 1.21
purchase date: 10/24/15 @ Adorama

It first occurred as a continuous mirror Lock-up sound early on but I don't recall how I was set; no grip at that time.
Waited for it to happen again: Same thing then on June 25, 2016 at an event at Basilica St. John the Baptist.
I was set on Continuous Shooting, with Grip Battery running mostly charged.
TAv 200/f8, I had to release the battery and turn camera off.

"Father and Daughter" to me is the epitome of a family image. The contrast of the variety of the human forms as well as the straightforward exposure in this photograph makes this one a contender to me.

"Hop Hoop Dancer" demonstrates to me first the photographer has command of his camera: stopping motion, in focus, and with a natural tonality.

I'm looking at more portability at this point in time. The 55mm gives me good low-light options but the Sigma is hefty (18.5 oz.); maybe weighs as much as the Limiteds together. I just sent a response to EU, so I don't think you are too far.

BTW, I would love to revisit the Philippines. I spent some on and off time there during the Viet Nam War. What a beautiful place it is!!!!! I have some very fond memories of the islands.

Thanks for the Bump ; )
