smc Pentax DFA 100mm f2.8 Macro - Fringing stopped down to about f5.6?

Yes I did. Shouldn't I been able to express my review of my lens?

Sad to single out someone because his opinion differs to yours.

In the past, I've readed in the forum that the formula is the same as F and FA, and by the number of elements, I thought it was the same. It certainly feels like a film era lens in purple fringing, colour, contrast, saturation, glare, like the film era lens I used to have.

The limiteds (15, 20-40, 35, 70) I have/used to have and my da*50-135 doesn't show that behaviour. Both inside with strobes and outside, the dfa100 image quality looks more akim to the old lenses than the new ones.

Thanks and best regards.

It does. Is beyond terrible, actually. F8 and you still get lots of fringing.
By far the worst of my lenses in that regard, to the point I no longer use it. Clearly an old, film era design and it shows; stay away.

So according to your "logic" , it will be more expensive than DFA* 70-200 f2.8 .....

Do people even check what they write before hitting the post button? :/

Looking at the proportions and placement of rings and switches, it seems to be a rebranded Tamron 70-210 F4

Embarking on an experiment (K3 II vs. GR III)

Get the GR, you'll never ever regret the purchase.
I've a Kp which is smaller than K-3 plus both 15mm ltd and 20-40 ltd; a friend of mine borrowed his GR ii for testing it over a weekend.

The handling and inconspicuousness of the GR plays on another different level, is a street photo monster and the best purpose-designed camera I've ever tested. One handed operation is where it shines, a dsrl or milc can't even come close.
People don't notice you or don't bother because they think you're shooting an old Sony cybershot/Nikon coolpix kind of camera. Try that with a dslr.....

The image quality is amazing, the lens sharpness is phenomenal! A sample of the quick pics I did (jpg stooc, didn't mess with my friend's settings)

Living as you do in NY, it would be a no brainer for me. I'm planning to visit your city in june and buying the GR is the first thing on my list.

Well, my K-50 just encountered the Aperture Block Failure

No, you do a minimal amount of sanding to an U shaped part which is moved by the solenoid. It seems the tips of this part develop or have a flash (like casting flash) and get stuck inside the solenoid.

Anyways, the amount of sanding is ridiculously small.

I let my K50 to rest for two weeks without shooting for checking if it could lock with time, and nope, everything works fine!

Well, I bought an used K50 with the same problem and fixing wasn't difficult at all.
First, get these screwdrivers:

Then follow this video:

Mine now works beautifully.

50mm lens for K1 suggestion?

I've the Zeiss Planar 50/1.4 and is very nice: sharp enough at 1.4, with nice colours and contrast. Much better wide open and stopped down than the k 50/1.4, da 50/1.8 and m 50/1.7 that I had. Lots of 3D pop to the pictures.
I'm pretty sure both DA* 55/1.4 and Voigtlander 58/1.4 will be just as good, so pick the best offer between these three.

Just passing by to say:
-Marc Newson must be one of biggest overrated designers ever.
-If Pentax ever jumps into the mirrorless wagon again, hopefully they use the L alliance mount and offer an adapter for K mount lenses. Simple and effective.

I really admire how the mods can keep their patience and good humour with some members which only come to complain in the vast majority of their posts, some times in several threads on the same day.
Even more, when is the old case of: "Pentax is several years behind and doesn't delivers" but when they do deliver, they're too stingy to buy the new products at full retail and wait 4 years to buy cheap second or third hand :/

Get the Kp and buy a pair of extra batteries (generic ones)
I went shooting in -6 c /20 F in Montana and never used more than one battery per day.
You'll love the third controller wheel and will get accustomed to it for when the new flagship is ready.

As many have said before, both 20-40 and 50-135 have abundant pixie dust. They're so good at rendering, I sold my 35 ltd, 70 ltd and nifty fities.
Just when I got some Zeiss lenses I felt the difference was justified enought to warrant using a fixed focal lenght and not just pack my two zooms and call it a day.

Be sure to order the TD56S instead of the TD56.

The S model have 000 and 0000 cross drivers, which come really handy for camera and lenses.

A pity, really. Is sad when a zoom, the 50-135 in my case. does everything better than a prime, except sharpness.
Hopefully I'll be able to sell it and will get the Zeiss 100 macro ( I've been Zeissed  )
