Danger of changing lenses?

I'm not sure of if it's bad or not but it is weird having the lens off, mirror up, camera on and being able to see the sensor float around.

When a lens is listed as APSC or full frame all thats referring to is the image circle. An 100mm APSC lens is going to give you the same FOV as a 100mm FF lens if used on the same body. Since your shooting with an APSC body it makes no difference if you use an APSC lens or a FF lens. Focal length is constant no matter what sensor format you're using. Focal length and FOV are related but they are not the same thing.

Picked up a yougnuo for $90 on amazon. It's been reliable and TTL (on camera only) for that much scratch ain't bad. Also a pair of wireless transmitters is only $30. My only complaint is the AF assist doesn't work.

My rule is if I'm not using a remote or timed release I leave it on. K-1 disables it in both those instances so I pretty much leave it on at all times.

That's part of it. I picked them (M 50 1.4 & FA 35 2.0) up to have something smaller than the 24-70 for street use but after awhile of being disappointed by the results compared to that lens they got less and less use until I got the 43mm when I took them out of my kit altogether. Results from the 50 shot wider than 2.8 just don't look appealing to me and at that point the 24-70 preforms better in every way. The FA35 feels sterile and I always find myself looking to fit juuusst a bit more in to the frame when I'm using any 35mm (the first camera I cut my teeth on had a 28mm that I learned to love so that's just personal preference really). The 43mm may not be terribly sharp but the bokeh and colors are lovely and I find the field of view to be very versatile for a walk-around city lens.

There certainly are. Which focal lengths do you usually use with your film slr? Like K-Three said if you plan on recreating the field of view you're used to with your current lenses on your ME you'll need to take the crop factor into account. An APS-C sensor is 2/3 the size of 35mm film so If you multiply the focal length of your current lenses by 2/3 you'll get the focal length you need to match the field of view you're used to with your current film system. With that info you can check out the lens search tool to see which lenses are out there. You don't need to worry about image format with APS-C so you can leave that set to ANY and the other filters are dependant on the features you're looking for.

Help with lens choice

I know they are big and heavy and FF and expensive but the DFA zooms are spectacular lenses. Mine never cease to amaze when it comes to clarity and how they handle (worth it for the snappy accurate AF alone in some cases). IMO they are a step up from any of the older lenses. And who knows maybe someday you'll get an itch for a FF body. Maybe rent a 24-70? Seems like a good focal range for portraits on APS-C.

I also don't think you could go wrong with any of the primes from 43mm and up.

Lenses that set Pentax apart of the competition

It really is a special lens. I've been using it as a walk around in the city on evenings out and the focal length on full frame is a perfect compromise between wide and standard. It also renders beautifully.

The 100 WR has become my favorite for nature walks. Enough reach for a bit of wildlife, not too long for some landscapes and macro for insects and flowers. Great all around lens.

The 49mm hood and cap from the 43mm limited should fit. Looks very nice on my M 50mm 1.4. The push on cap with the felt is smmoooth.

That is wayyyyyyyyyy more sensor noise than I get with long exposures. I've been doing 1-2 hour star trail exposures with no interval between shots while it's 90 degrees out and am not seeing anywhere near as much thermal noise.

And FYI, on mobile, that image sharing site makes it look like the ads are part of your collection.

PENTAX K-1 Limited Silver released

I also fail to see the reasoning behind statements like that. I mean based on that thinking imagine what the price of a K-1 will be when the next FF body is released? People will practically be giving them away! Some folks just gotta stir the pot I suppose.

YN585EX on a K-1. I can't seem to get the AF assist beam to work. Speedlight FN menu 2 AF set to ON and camera set to AF-S per yongnuo instructions. Don't see any in camera settings for accessory AF lights.

Anyone with this combo have any problems getting the AF assist to work?

Best 50mm lens for landscape in full frame

Part of it could be how the AF is calibrated also. I calibrated my 100mm WR a bit ago and noticed that when set for macro distances it was a little off further out and vice versa when calibrated at a more normal shooting distance. It's certainly sharp from minimum distance to infinity just need to keep its idiosyncrasies in mind if you plan to use it for subjects beyond macro distance and adjust accordingly. I personally found it best to set it to focus further out and make micro adjustments for macro subjects.
