Ancestry DNA test

over the counter DNA testing do not go through FDA approval, and therefore accuracy, validity, and repeatability does not require to be proven according to any recognized scientific standards. On the other hand, a DNA test performed from a lab that is FDA approved, i.e. a hospital, would be required to use a DNA test that has been proven to be scientifically accurate, valid, and reproduceable.

In some cases OTC testing produces results that are unexpected, such as finding out that one has other siblings from another family. In other cases people have been able to trace their biological parents, etc.

Unfortunately, most people taking these OTC tests do not consider the possible outcomes of the tests...and the resulting possible psychological effect it can have. A patient of mine brought in her 50-75 page results from one of these tests. She paid extra to have a DNA test for an eye condition and for Alzheimer's disease, as her parents had these conditions. I had to explain to her that the DNA eye test has not been proven valid and the Alzheimer test only tells one that one may be of risk. But neither test has been proven accurate from the company. Last she may never develop Alzheimer and there is no the result is the psychological effect.

As far as the results not being given out to a third party....the speculation is that these companies need your info for data mining in order to make their profit. Remember how companies that produced electronic communication devices such as Alexa stated that your info would not be given to third parties, and the devices would not listen to you when turned off...of course the truth was quite different.

Put a Craftsman tool from 30 years ago besides several other ones and you could pick it out of the loneup.
Put a new Craftsman tool from 2020 beside other brands from 2020, not so easy to do it.

Put a K1 beside a Canon, Sony, Nikon....not hard to pick it out of the lineup, IMHO. Put the eyepiece in front of your eye and you immediately recognize it is a Pentax pentaprism.

I could not care if Ricoh owns the company at this point, as long as the products are of a high quality and do what I want. The k1 and 645D do that for me.

Sounds like that show is not where Ricoh/ Pentax us going to make their money or converts.

If you are going to switch brands...then just do it. No long drawn out death please.

Ricoh has released the new griii , new lenses, and about to release a new camera in the last approx year. Not bad for a company that is supposed to be dead or about to die.

And where are Mamiya, Yashica, Minolta, Konica, Vivitar, Sunpack,

And yet Pentax is still here. Good enough for me.Long live ...

Good quality polarizer and nd
UV protective- but that is a whole other controversy!
Old starburst filter is nice if you do not want to do it in post processing

Then depending on the lens, focal length, lens hood, non-digital film filter or digital type

The 20-35 is reported to be a wonderful lens...if you can find one at a reasonable price. Small, compact, and excellent results. For wider, and not expensive, 17-28 is enjoyable to use. Or for more exotic...28mm Pentax shift lens!

Last time I was going home through Heathrow, they pulled out my camera knapsak for hand inspection because I forgot their was a cleaning kit with 1.5 oz cleaning fluid. All hand inspected. So I would guess with a lead lined will be hand inspected. Otherwise film probably ruined. Doesnít everyone enjoy being pulled out of line for individual inspections, or just me???

actually I know exactly what it is like to have to go through a personal check...they simply pull you out of line while everyone goes ahead, no big deal. Same thing when you refuse to go through the more advanced body scanners..they pull you to the side, they have to get a person trained in the patdown, and the same sex. The rest of the crowd simply goes ahead.

So you can either tell them you want your film to be hand checked...any you wait, or put it in a lead lined which case you will probably be pulled out of line.

In my experience, and I have been pulled out of line more times than I can count...the security staff are generally pretty good

So in the 70's we used photographic lead bags to protect the film. I would think that one could have it hand checked as per the information posted. If you forgot to take it out of the bag then they would notice it, remove the bag and hand inspect.

see amazon : Domke 711-11B Small Filmguard Bag (Black) : Camera Cases : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&

"Filmguard Bags are designed to protect film from exposure to harmful x-rays during airport security and custom checks. These lead lined bags protect unprocessed film and other sensitive media against the low dosage x-ray machines that are used in airports around the world. Without this type of protection, unprocessed film can become fogged or streaked, resulting in lost photographs. The triple layer construction includes and outer shell of water resistant ballistic nylon, a lead-impregnated vinyl sheet and smooth interior nylon lining. Full length 1-1/2" hook and loop closures and water resistant materials keep dust and moisture out."

New Ricoh griii and Pentax 200fg flash

I am now going to enroll at University for electrical engineering ! Just kidding! Thanks for the explanation.

Now... from the Ricoh website about using a flash unit with the camera

"You can discharge a flash for shooting when a flash unit(optional) is connected to the camera.
・The following flash units can be used.

Is the 200fg just left off the list in order to sell a newer model or do they know something we don't?

Reason I was asking ...a used 200fg is $20-40 here and 201fg is only available new.

Last, any reason Ricoh does not include the 200fg being compatible and actually stated on one website that it was not usable on the camera (other than wanting to sell newer product)

I am going overseas and wanted to give someone a gift for their new griii, a small Pentax flash unit.

Does anyone know if the older 200fg flash is fully compatible with the camera. Ricoh only lists the newer 201fg and the other 2 newer ones, and even states in one discussion not to use the 200fg.

While there are discussions on this site about one has stated if they have actually tried it on their griii.

Canada Pentax Lens Warranty Experience

There are no laws that I am aware of in Canada regarding what you went through. But then again...
Had a brand new Subaru years ago that every part was not put together properly. It got to the point that the company would not even honour the 2 year bumper to bumper warranty. The Canadian office would not take my calls and Japan simply sent my unopened letter back to me. Finally just sold the car. So...the problems are not just with cars.

Henrys Camera up here offers a private when I bought my K1 I broke down and bought it...just in case it needed warranty work.

On the other hand...I bought a used 645D a year ago. Needed the small cap that covers the flash pin outlet and an owners manual. Called the CDN office and explained my situation. Said I would pay for it if it was available. They took down all my information.

Wait for courier, 2-3 weeks later...I received an original pentax pouch with the instruction manual and the no charge.

Sometimes you win and sometimes you...

Welcome !
Lots of K1's at reasonable prices...just keep checking this site and others.

28-105 is a great all around lens. Then when the landscape lens bug bites you...20-35 is great but hard to find and usually expensive...17-28 is a lot of fun and little distortion at the 28 end....or the aftermarket wide angles with manual focus ….

Enjoy the site.

PF should put a warning up before watching the video...,do not watch while in a coffee shop and drinking hot coffee...laughing so hard that the coffee is coming out of every orifice of my body!

I have a lot of respect for Chris....but really....his gripes are about an EVF and the camera processing. Ya the EVF has so much over the pentaprism type display...really????
The K1 and ii model are priced so low compared to the other brands that DPR does not always include them in their reviews. The fact Pentax kept the same mount for how many decades...that all older lenses can be mounted. The fact the k1 body is so well made and thought out....I donít think there is any way to please DPR. So I will read their site when I want to and I will take Chrisís advice and just keep laughing at...them. All I want when I read a photographic site is a review of the product from an electronic/mechanical analysis, how the camera handles in my hand, and what It is like to create photographic art. Maybe I am asking too much.

Happy NY to everyone.
