Nikon mirrorless teaser?

Anyone noticed how large the mount is? According to this guys speculations, there might be a MF mirrorless in works as well (using the same mount as the FF one):

You Tube

Which allows for very fast primes (starting with these: Nikon Patents 2 Full Frame Mirrorless Lenses: 52mm f/0.9 and 36mm f/1.2)

Whatever it would be, I won't be switching systems lol, i'd rather save up for the DFA primes :)

Was driving home, and saw this gorgeous sunset. Luckily had my camera with me, with the DFA 28-105 attached.
I just pulled off the highway, so didn't want to set the tripod and attract too much attention. So just took hand held panorama. Worked out fine :)

Printing at home - what's the real cost?

I had terrible experience with online photo labs (shuttefly, national photo lab etc) - smaller 8x10 prints came back ok, the photo books were pretty low quality, but the large framed prints I sent them came back looking terrible. I've since switched to a real printer in Vermont, he's doing tremendous job with my photos, very high quality work, and price is very reasonable. Plus, a personal approach to customers, you can always email him and ask how the project is going, ask for some specific calibrating on some images, or just ask for advice

With DFA 15-30 & NiSi S5 / Polarizer. Got unlucky with weather and couldn't go deep into the mountains that day, but saw a nice little creek on the way back.

Can't help with printing at home, I'm currently working with a printing studio in Vermont that does a very good job for me. I want to switch to my own printer for smaller stuff eventually though, so this post is of interest.

One thing - monitor calibrator is a must. I've tried printing from my supposedly 100% RGB monitor before, and they came out terrible. After profiling my monitor with the colormunki calibrator I saw how cold my images were, and how much I had to adjust to make sure prints look good. Prints now come looking very close to what I see on my monitor.

I don't think I'll regret buying it over Fuji :) XF10 controls look kind of bare next to a more full featured GRII. Also, I couldn't find what materials are used in the Fuji's build, and I know GRII is magnesium alloy, decided to go with the one I'm sure in.

Nice little pattern I noticed in the creek I was passing by. Luckily, I had my 28-105 and a tripod :)

Just got my beautiful GRII few days ago. Already fallen in love. Funny how I started researching a second (lighter) camera with the new Fuji announcement (XF10), but ended up getting GRII after much internet research :) Fuji ad dollars working for Ricoh! :)
Few images I managed to snap in past few days, can't wait to get out to the city and try it there!

Best Portrait Lens? Budget: $600

Oops, I missed that point. Also, it's rather large. I'd say 55 1.4 then, seems like a very good lens, and I've seen plenty used on ebay, seem to be in good condition.

Tamron 70-200 2.8 is quite good, and can be purchased within your budget.

Fuji XF10, getting the jump on Ricoh GR3

I enjoy the GR II that arrived few days ago a lot, can't wait to hit the streets and see what I can get. However, my younger sister got excited about this camera too, but I'm wondering if she'd be better off with a XF 10, seems it's an easier camera to use (probably better af, more MP to crop in, possibly better iso performance, touch screen)? I enjoy the customization options of GR II, the build is awesome, and this lens is crazy sharp, but I wonder if a true beginner (and I'm not saying only beginners will get the XF 10) would be better off with the newer XF 10?

Also, I can't for the life of me find what materials are used in the XF 10 build lol, no one mentions it. Is it magnesium alloy?

First couple shoot I've attempted so far, was a nice experience! Mat and Amanda were very easy to work with. K-1 & Tamron 70-200, AF 540 flash in a 47" softbox.

i've watched his videos, and they pushed me into buying it more than anyone else's! I wasn't aware of his work (I used to shoot a lot of street style when I lived in a big city, but have fallen in love with landscape photography since moving to a more scenic place), his website is inspirational, and images are very interesting and quite different from what I'm shooting for the past three years, kind of rejuvenating my fascination with photography. Can't wait to get the GR :)

I just checked Cactus website, they claim V6 should be able to control power output of Pentax flashes, so I'm thinking to get a pair of those triggers now.

Just speculations on mirrorless and Pentax

I don't mind either type of camera honestly. I happily used my MFT kit when I had it, now I'm using a DSLR kit and I'm happy with it too. In terms of pure tech innovation, I think mirrorless is probably easier to work with and has larger future potential. But, how long would that take, and would result be significantly better than the same generation DSLR? In terms of weight - when I just got the K-1, I never thought it'd be a big deal. But after taking my kit to few cities and outings, I bought a GR2 to have a light option for casual photography.

I don't own a Cactus flash, I have the 540 mark 1 and 360 mark 1 right now. Would I be able to control the power output of those flashes with V6 mark 1? Or i'd need the Mark 2 for that?

---------- Post added 07-30-18 at 03:57 PM ----------

reason I'm asking is, I see v6 mark 1 going for about $30 used, would be pretty good value if they can control the power output remotely for this much.

Ok I think I misunderstood. I kept thinking P-TTL is the only way to control power remotely, but I guess it's possible even without it? That would be just fine for me, all I wanted was to play around with different settings without reaching into the softbox all the time
