Hi Antonio,
Between the X20 and the X30, what is your favorite?
I would like to buy one X20 because I find it very beautiful and convenient. There are limitations, but you just have to be aware of that.
I stil have my Oly EMD5 and lenses. The colors are more vivid than Fuji, oh yes, and contrast too.
I have less aberrations with FUJI when I use manual lenses like with my Takumar 100mm/1:4, for exampe.
Also, AF with Oly are much much better, with automatic motorised enses, of course. Very fast.

Do you agree?

IBIS on XH-1 only matters when shutter is two steps down AND this only works when you are not moving.
We're not talking about Olympus ibis. Other than that, XH1 has very good ergonomics and it is silent.
XT3 costs less and is way better in AF, in all situations, has better video, etc.

Everything is better except ergonomics.

XHI is a very good camera, but a new dinosaur compared to the new (later) models.

I think the XT2 has the same feature.
I believe it will be difficult to desire something in photo hobby that puts your Pentax system on a shelf.
When it comes to no compromise, I prefer audio circuit design and boards.
My bigest passion is research about buiding classA amplifiers, high-end DA converters and so on. And high-end analogic Schumann resonators!
(Resonances are also music...)

Those are my PentaxK1 and D FA 50/1.4 lenses, my Ferraris. First, I'm an audio guy, second, there is photo, far away from audio nevertheless.

I think that Fuji 18-135 WR is not the best Fuji zoom.
16/50 and 15/55 are better.
For exemple, eve better than the very good Takumar 1.4/100mm MACRO, that is so sharp and neutral.

---------- Post added 05-15-19 at 12:48 AM ----------

Surfar, you are very informed about Fuji, better than me!
I have now the XE2. Did not buy the XT2 yet, because I saw a XE2 "as new", for 200 euros with a nice grip.
So I bought it. It is not my goal, but I'm happy, at least I have a camera that I like, wich is better than waiting for the ONE, the ideal.
I'll buy a XT2 or XE3, when a good deal appears.
Do you know from what generation are the sensor and processor of the XE2?
I don't know yet, but the XE2 seems to have the same behavior of the XM1 in low light.
XE2 has the 180 step in the mechanical shutter and a few more steps in ISO, just where I needed a lot of times with the XE1;
not very very important, but important sometimes.

Antonio,
I had the Fuji XM1 and the XE1 and the XM1 has better behavior in low light.
That's strange : XE1 and others are good in low ight, but the XM1 has the best score.
I made streetshots by night and the result was outstanding.
Also, the JPEGS are eve superior to those from XE1, XT1, etc.
Why? I don't know, but I am not the only one giving that feedback.
I guess that the inbuilt "software" makes a difference...may be!

I sold it because I can't live without a good viewfinder.

Hey, hello!!

Information and experience is very important. But for me, this subject is not hundred per cent rational.
I have enough information about different brands and optics.
I bought different devices to experiment.
After all, and for good, my decision is to stay with FUJI. Point.
It is not better than some others, for many people. For some, it is.
I can't live without the physical dials of Fuji, I looooove the fim simulations and lenses. Love the colors. Af improved a lot. The design is gooooourgeous. Lots of firmware. Thanks to that, XE2 is diffferent than a few years ago,

The lenses are excellent, I have some. I also have now a big collection of vintage glass, lots of takumar and others.

Size matters here. Small is better!! And so on...
My Oympus with lenses is for sale. I am waiting for a refurbished XE2. I paid 200 euros for it. What more can I ask?

I will have a XT2 later. Finally, it is not very important, it can wait, because it is a Fuji...
As someone said here, I concentrate in buying glass. Glass, more glass!

This is a love affair. When you have the right girl with you, you don't need to compare to other girls. Eh eheh...!!

That said, it is always nice to talk about our experience and points of view. This threat is for life!
Thanks for all of you.

Ok, I get it. We think the same. Sometimes a have simple issues with the english vocabulary and I can miss the accurate sense of the phrase.

I saw a few very good deals for Pentax. For ex, one K3 III new for 300 euros(!!!), in the box!! , or a KS1 for 120, like new, but someone arrived before me. It's a question of speed and opportunity. I keep watching and searching.

There are a lot of items selling in January because this is the begining of the year and many people received a kind of "bonus" from the company where they work - normally in Dec or Jan.

---------- Post added 01-31-19 at 11:35 PM ----------

The missing dial on the KS1 is a major negative point for me...

but I could live with that for a certain period of time...

Ok, just a communication issue : what is, what do you mean by

Pentax WR?

So, how do you see the fact of having say, one XH1 and one Pentax like say, K3?

Does it make sense to you?
Do you think it would make more sense to have a pentax full frame and a fuji like XT3 or XH1?

May be a XT3 and a full frame Pent

Thanks

I'm also asking it to you because I think you have Fuji and Pentax, don't you?

I don't believe. At this level, when you look to pictures of even much more expensive cameras, it is not inferior.

I can allways be wrong but I don't believe. The XH1 has nothing much to add when you have a XT2, unless stabilization and better video.
If video is not very important for you, there is no reason to something so much bigger... and more expensive.
To tell the truth, if I was only thinking about IQ and if I was more rational, I could stay with my XE1. IQ is very good, just not 24MP, but 16.

I think that Pentax images are very good and different from Fuji. That's why I want to give it a try.
Also, if I have a Fuji, I can go out with a pentax in a rainy day and use the stabilization with my manual lenses.
And above all, it gives me pleasure. If later I see that pentax is much better, I sell Fuji. No problemo.

XT3 is better, but how much better? Xt3 is better in some AF areas. Other than this, for me is negligible.

The price is not.

Yes yes, I will use a genuine adaptor, they are great, from pentax. Very thin too. I like it, because it is like I had no adaptor.
Viewfinder is one of the most important features in a camera for me, specially for manual lenses.

The one from K-S1 is great, one of its markting arguments, I guess.

I think that - even if the KS1 was not loved by the public - the image quality is very good, even for today's parametres.

Add to that a good stab and good OVF and I'm ready to start.
I read that I will have a software for raw editing. This body has a good jpeg editing, but I know that with Pentax, raw will be clearly superior.
With Fuji I can forget raw, but not with Pentax. It will be new for me. May be I'll begin to raw with Fuji, too.

---------- Post added 01-30-19 at 04:04 AM ----------

WS..Hum... yes, you're right, but I had plans for XT2, selling Olys.
If I find a very good deal.
You know, the important is to start.
Knowing myself, this is my first camera, just to taste the Pentax world. Then I will consider a better one. K3 is the minimum, if I stay with pentax.
May be I'll find a cheapo K-S2. It is possible!

The good thing about not going to far is a good and solid evolution.

I may have found a very very good deal!

I suspect it doesn't, but I'd like to have a more secured information. Please! Thanks again.

Thank you, grispie and MarkJerling!

Yes, K3 would be a nice camera, but I'll be happy with the KS1, for a start.

K3 is a possible upgrade, when more funds will be available, (soon), for photo gear.

As many members know in this threat, I bought an Oly EM5 and a few Oly lenses. Well, I am selling all Olympus stuff.
That is good gear, but finally, I can see for my experience that Fuji is much better - at least for me.
Also, all those complicated menus from Olympus are a PITA for me. Images from Fuji have that special thing that Fuji users like and Olys make very nice shots but they lack that extra thing, no charm.

At first, I was impressed with the fancy Oly body and it's fast focus and touchscreen.
In the end, even with the old Fuji XM1, much more "primitive", I can have better focus. It has only what matters in the menus and when you really know how to use it, it beats Oly. Images are better. Macro is better. I thought that not having stabilization would be an handicap for manual lenses, but using the ability of Fuji to work with low light, I can compensate it easily. It could be a problem with big zooms, but even with 135mm in manual focus, the results are good.

Ok, with Stab 5 axis you can go down in shutter, but who cares? With Fuji I have a good margin, unless I want to use a 135mm in low light...
Aritmetics...

I keep Fuji, I really like it, will buy a XT2 or XT3 soon and begin my experience with Pentax.
No room for the K3 budget. I can get a KS1 with a zoom for 200 euros or a K3 nacked for 500 euros.

KS1 has a very good viewfinder and I will have a OVF experience;

KS1 has stabilization.
KSI has 20MP
KSI likes Takumar and other vintage lenses that I already have.
KS1 has many donwsides but makes beautiful images.
I like the design.

This threat was about "Fuji or Pentax?"
I will end uo having both.

So far : I keep Fuji, I begin with Pentax.

Hello!

I have a new question :

Now that I have lots of M42 Takumars, can anyone tell me what would be the best digital pentax bodies for these lenses?
It seems that those models with a D in the end, like the K10D, K00D and K110D have a high magnification in the viewfinder, when in focus.
Also, the focus is correct "by highlighting the center point in red and the viewfinder's green polygon".

This is not a huge advantage today, because I have this kind of feature when using my Fuji bodies with all vintage manual lenses, but it can be interesting
with pentax bodies. Some Pentax bodies may allowd for some extra features with takumars, that are related to AF. Of course, it would be preferable if the body is stabilized. Note, I am looking for an used model, not expensive, just to start. For now I am not very concerned with fancy features and fast AF, etc. Just the best compatibility between Takys and Pentax - stabilized. I wonder what would be the behavior of the KR with the takys.

One of the things I like a lot is the simple fact that Pentax designed a very thin adapter for the M42 lens mount. All my takumars have M42 mount.
I hope that a Pentax body with a M42 Takumar has the same behavior of a Takumar K mount with a Pentax body...

I am sure that many members know what am I talking about.
This could be a good specific reason to begin an adventure with pentax. Finally!

Can someone help? I'd be very grateful. I must say that I learned a lot about Pentax, in this threat, and I finally decided to buy a P body, now that I have so many lenses, most of them Taks. I have one good specific reason, now.

Thank you!

I vote number 1. It was very dificult, all are so good. I like very much the mixture of artificial and natural light. This photo has for me a touch of mystery and surrealism. The chosen place was good. Train stations allways were that dramatic theme...much used in literature, lyrics, cinema and photography. The night natural landscape helps. The warm station could be dracula's refuge, but also grandma house.

I wish I could improve the viewfinder. This is for me as important as all the rest, in a camera. I mean, we shoot what we see... right? This shoud be a marketing argument. May be most of clients shoot in automatic... and we may be dinosaurs...Or may be there's another reason. I don't know.

normhead,

That's very nice to ad some pentax photos to the threat, thank you! Why am I the only (was), guy here posting photos?

No, nobody is trying to capture pentax users to fuji.

"Sure that was Pentax 50 years ago, but it's hardly the Pentax of today."
Are the new Pentax lenses much better than Takumars?I guess yes.

I bought Takumars because they are cheap, I could make an intire set with 500 euros, they are good and have that "vintage" feeling...

and time by time I buy a modern lens, accurate and sharp. With AF too!

Even Fuji kit zoom is better than all those vintage lenses, but those lenses offer something unique.

I like the photo number 2, (the bird), and the last one.
Pixel shift is a good feature.
Oly has the same, sort of.
I bet that this is a feature that all brands will have soon, like 5 axis stab.
