so, I started with a K200D, moved on and bought a KM/K2000 also, about 15 lenses and now....drumroll please,.....grabbed a KS2!

its so much easier with the flip out screen especially for macro shots where you are lying in the dirt trying to look through the eyepiece!

going to have a bit of a play with it today, i'll see if i get any good pics!

Cheers

I'vs set it up at EV 0.7 , I tried Matrix focus today however it seems to pick up mainly the back ground,
I've gone out today, these are the untouched JPEGS
However, I got more quality images to work with by playing with aperture, manual focus, on a bleak grey colourless day.

All in all, a bit happier with my results, off to Melbourne over Easter so I will try for colour and contrast of the big smoke!

some examples of what I got today... Complete with EXIF!

I have come to the realisation that I'm still a beginner!
My issue is not taking the time to learn, not taking the time to use the camera properly, not taking the time to check my results.
A lot of human error involved here. so
step 1/ read a lot of stuff, including the manual.
step 2/ relax, don't rush
step 3/ get off Auto pic and stop being lazy!
step 4/ get to know the Camera.

It might be old, but it is capable of producing excellent pictures, I just have to input the right data to to coax the best out of it.
Finding the data is the challenge!

Cheers and thanks everyone for the hints, tips and education.

Wow, thank you all, Tas, I read your comments and stuff makes sense, especially where you said expecting current results with yesterday's tech makes a lot of sense, but also freeing up the camera more to work properly, and to treat it like a real camera, rather than a point and shoot, which I came to the realization last night.
I was expecting Rembrandt results with painting by numbers, so the shot I am picking in my mind the camera isn't seeing!
Tibbits, I'll keep those comments in mind about locking focus, again, it comes to user experience and possibly older equipment, but I figure I'll master this machine first, cut my teeth on the basics and learn, then upgrade.
Adam, I'll make that change and see if it helps me at all, possibly , with that, changing to a more hands on and appropriate setting and taking a bit more time and care will help solve this issue.

So I go out to take pics, so far all on Auto pict, or in scene mode.

AF.S, AE metering is set on the middle one, and AF point is set on the last one, point in middle.

Some pictures turn out fantastic, some are rubbish, how do I get consistently good shots?
Go to manual?
Set AF point to auto?
Some are action shots, some are landscape?, (Nothing should move in landscape!)

And some are taken within a couple of seconds of each other.

Or is it a case of practice makes perfect?

Any hints, tips and suggestions are welcome.

Cheers

Laurie

The Cockies (Farmers) here feel exactly the same as you Metal278
over here our biggest threat is the Indian Minah bird

Personally, I don't mind the Sproggies (Sparrows) but I do prefer indigenous or Native species.
Anyhow, lets not highjack the thread they look cute in their native habitat.

Cheers
