I really like it, totally crisp, a great effect, and the wings are amazing in details.

I don't usually shoot at shutter speeds that high. Do you prefer those when you can get enough light? I tend to shoot closer to 1/2000.

I wasn't totally sure what you meant, but felt you deserved a compliment since I really like the photo :) Yes, seeing photography differently is a plus for me, a deeper perspective on it with levels of both technical and creative skills. Harder but more rewarding.

I think it is good no matter what kind of photography it's always good to experiment with other styles, just to get new creative angles. You can definitely take my comment as positive- your photo is really fantastic.

I think to get the blue as you did the camera and lens must have picked up a true if pale blue to start. I seem to often get a hint of purple mingled with blue and no amount of post processing manages to bring it back to pure blue.

I actually had to break the habit of being too scientific. I spent a year photographing almost all in an impressionist style, shallow DOF, camera panning, etc. By the end, I now see photography totally differently.

Yes I really enjoy photography in m y own yard. I have a creek, swamp and forest, a total of 10 acres. No moose here, it's in city limits and too far south, but lots of wildlife and in snowy winters it is interesting to see messages written in tracks.

For many years my photography was documentary, as part of scientific studies. Now with my main focus being photography, I like exploring how it lets us see things we otherwise couldn't. That includes long exposure, fast shutter, extreme macro, etc. This is a great example of the kind of photography that enhances a normal view.

Did you need to post process or did the camera and lens actually get these colors? I am always looking for ways to capture true blue.

I never used to use my cell phone but these days I do since I always have it with me. I also use a range of other cameras, including Pentax of course. I find certain cameras work best for certain situations, so I have quite a stable of them. I was inspired to become a nature photographer by my aunt and she used Pentax way back pre digital, so they have always been special to me too.

Even if it was a Hasselblad it's not worth risking that water to save. But I'm glad you and the camera were safe, and you captured such a mesmerizing image. Shouldn't this have been taken by a Pentax???! :)

I once studied orchid bees by painting them with various colors of wite-out. Their lives ended up being way more complex than imagined, over the course of a few days they moved back and forth in a complex set of underground tunnels. I think any animal is fascinating if we take the time to really watch.
