Will Ricoh-Pentax ever create k-mount mirrorless camera?

mirrorless with electronic viewfinder could be great for video as said and would not be so big when using lenses as my Cosina auto MC 24mm which is small and light (MF but this is not an issue as it's close focusing lens). They could indeed design a good compact photo-video body but with another line of smaller batteries.

I guess you are right with the temperature cause. Where I live is quite hot all time, mainly in summer it goes from 27°C to 40°C and temperature may also impact on battery function. Should have bought a white bag for my camera instead of black and brown^^
Perhaps putting some glass fiber layer or any insulating layer in the camera bag may help too ? (aluminium sheets can do the job too)

Thanks for correcting me about this hexagon, I'm gonna digg in my user manual as I never realy taken care about this status item of the bottom pannel :)
Never ending learning^^

-- Seen, the hexagon appears generaly at the same time as the center square pops ;) But it is harder for me to take care of the bottom pannel as I MF and am very focusing the viewfinder center, my eye is not wide angle enough XD (plus I use a 1.2x magnifier which makes it even harder to switch from center to bottom of the VF)

There is no green hexagon on the K-5 II :p

I configured my camera for MF, and the red square only appears for 1/10s when I'm half-pressing the shooting button and the subject in the center of the viewfinder is seen as been in focus, this works perfectly with all my prime lenses. Not using multi-zone focusing confirmation, only the center point.

I can try as you say on a plan subject, maybe a building, but as you also said, this lens is made for close manual focusing (macro purpose), there is only 1 or 2 degrees rotation of the focusing ring to adjust focus on subjects from 200m approx. to infinity which makes it very hard to be accurate. A fix for that would be to stop down to 5.6 or more but then you loose all the benefits of this f3.5 fast zoom. The V1 I had once tested worked much better as it had a real macro and non-macro mode.

Nice overall abstract of all other answers, I agree with the scratching risk too. I'll digg the gel stick method which IMO seems the more efficient when you are able to see the particles (if have a good tool to inspect the sensor visualy). Wet method can work fine but almost always leaves streaks and touch parts of the sensor where there is no particles to remove...

I've deeply analized some shots where on the same focusing plan, left part of the pic is sharp while it goes blury from center to right, this is not the case at all shooting range but it's clearly IMO an internal optical issue, maybe a lens has moved from its place, as the lens has a shock on the filter thread I'm pretty sure it has fallen one day and a part moved. I take no risk in dismounting this lens as it has now absolutely no value as is. But idk if I'll succeed, I did yet fail in re-assembling a Kiron model, maybe this tokina is simpler to disassemble and re-assemble ?

(at least more documentation on this model is available on the web)

TY, this seems to be the best system, do you need an air can or can it work with a blower ?

Thanks for all your answers but I think none realy relates precisely the issue I have, in the viewfinder I have a very sharp image and get the red square spotted (K-5 II), but the results have nothing to do with what I've "shot", and usualy the resulting focus point is much closer or further than what it should be... :/ (not a softness issue either)
I'm not talking about infinity focusing, let's just say an object 500m far from my lens. See what I mean ?
It looks like if the focusing/zoom ring is to loose and moves while shooting. I'll try with tripod, lens horizontally oriented and delayed actuation.
What is weird is that I hold very firmly the focusing ring while shooting so it should not move. My guess is there is an internal issue, like if actuation was making an internal lens part move even if ring is held firmly.

BTW I'm going to get a SMC M 200mm f4 prime, I'm really disapointed (or unlucky) by all zooms I had low performances.

Only my Tokina SDII 70-210mm is reliable but very slow, IQ starts at 6.7 (if you go under u get softness and lots of CA).

The only very good zoom I had was the SMC m 80-200mm zoom (with the 8 blades diaph) but sadly the on I had had haze and was unusable over a certain amount of incoming light. So it went to garbage too.

As I know a zoom with IQ as a SMC M 135mm f3.5 (on its full focal range) is out of my budget I'll just stop using and buying zooms atm.

I've bought (and been refunded because of filter thread damaged and unusable) one of these lenses and although optics are cristal clear and it can take awesome macro photos :

White star by Bruno Polleri, sur Flickr

It really sucks when it comes to subjects 100m or more far, I can almost never get an accurate focus. Is this due to this specific item I bought or is there a trick I'm not aware about ? In fact this V2 series 1 does not seem to have any macro & normal mode as does have the Kiron model (v1) or I missed something ?
I read the user manual and instructions concerning using macro mode looks like a joke. Anyway, on far subjects I have a 1% chance to get the good focus. I even use a viewfinder pentax genuine magnifier x1.2 to get more accurate focuses and this works perfectly with my SMC 135mm.

Thx for any tips or help, atm I believe the lens is faulty.

Hi all :)

I'm not a sensors humid cleaning method fan, even using appropriate products and I don't have so many specks on my CMOS (a group of small ones in a zone and a bigger one alone) but they won't leave the sensor with blower method.

If any already used this Lenspen New SensorKlear Angled Sensor Cleaning Pen, I would like a feedback on its performance.

Also, no one as thought of using the small vacuum u use to remove soldering, I'm pretty sure it would perform well, not moving the specks but sucking them out of the body ?

Thx for any feedback !

Hard to choose, i like both the 6c, the 7, I find 6c funny and I love the 7 global design with very nice fonts, i like the 12 too but as it is mine I won't vote for it :D
I like punchy and big visual design, some are too "company t-shirts" like IMO

How do you see what firmware you have ?
My batterie is also pentax genuine
Ill see if it does it less or no more when a bit discharged but as I only MF and rarely use flash, it may take a while^^

and I have the last 1.07 firmware...

Thank you, arial black is indeed very close^^ excepted for the "P" character.
So can my proposals be valid, admitting I will change the font type if asked to ?
And can the K-1 logo be used ? (I find it quite hard for people to recognize K-1 model using another font type when the concept dont show the K-1 camera which design is not obviously different from some other K serie models).

It's a bit sad we cannot use official PENTAX logo, so my proposals would not be accepted ? This gives them free advertising, why not when you can use other visual stuff from pentax as cameras or lenses views ? I used the red pentax logo from pentax website and vectorized it from their original PNG logo...

most of all, it's a shame the price it will be launched at in France, approx. 2000€ vs 1700$ in the U.S.
they do a very bad marketing for this brand here, most people only know Canon or Nikon, only some enthusiasts or pro will tell you things about Pentax DSLRs and the K-Mount backward compatibility plus all other + we know about these bodies and lenses.
Much harder to find spare parts as focusing screens or other optionnal Pentax genuine accessories here, or if you find some, prices are a shame compared to how much they sell that in Japan.

Also original files will be available in EPS format (outlined fonts and lines). Still would better enjoy wearing a "funny t-shirt" than something too much "tech" :)

I could also add the K-1 focusing screen AF zone prints on the sides of the smiley :)

found at a nice price a 1L big Isopropyl alcohol 99% and tested it on many surfaces as LCD screens, glass, plastics, it's realy the best cleaning product i've found ATM, perfect for cleaning electronic contacts too or camera LCD screen, lets no print at all, seems realy not corosive and I think it should not hurt lens coating as it even hardly removes finger dirts from my keyboard^^ Maybe someone knows more about cleaning coated front lenses...

A bit sad to receive this contest alert just today... I'm a graphic illustrator (vectors & bitmaps) and deadline being tonight is very short to produce a decent proposal :/
I have a nice idea but it's in my head atm and won't have time to do the job, why a so late alert ? (e-mail)
(not so long to use illustrator but much longer to brainstorm original concepts that could be visually efficient and why not funny)
Good luck to all contributors anyway :)
B.P.

( something like "WTF you have a PENTAX and don't know {PF LOGO} ?", I would like to wear that^^ )

---------- Post added 06-29-16 at 08:40 AM ----------

I still have a few hours left (lol) my time zone being in Europe... so here is a 1st shot, funny concept, done as fast as possible. Hard to produce more elaborated illustrations (using blueprints or other pentax related stuff) in this short gap.

tshirtPF_make1

maybe some more proposals (this one could suit on a very dark grey t-shirt, easy to make other color options as white t-shirt or red t-shirt) will come later if cannot sleep^^

focusing screen having dust & fibres

that's what I think, there can be some dust and fibers in the prism that fall down on the FS when set. Anyway it is on the FS otherwise I will see them blured, but I see them very sharply, so they are on the mate surface (top inner side) of the FS. Sadly my room is not a laboratory dust free room, and I don't have that so I'll have to find a trick to clean it, put a mask on it and set it fast so nothing goes on it... I'll see.
Ethylic pure 90% alcohol with 10% distilated water don't hurt stuff as far as I've tested, but once I used domestic methanol and this is bad.
