What gear would you pack for a zombie apocalypse?

"Walking Dead" is so everyday here...K3 and DFA 150-450 does just fine. The trick is to just blend in and look like them. Turns out I'm a natural.... you know...move slow, smell a bit, have no real purpose, am mostly gnarly for no reason.....

Down the road at a place called Victor Harbor they mostly drive slowly and aimlessly around in Toyota Corollas.

Thing is with this..... it's already happening around us..... you just need to look. They infiltrated our political system back in the 80's....mostly for the pensions.... turns out if your still moving the death benefits don't kick in.... so the indexed pension keeps going.

Personally, I think you have made an amazingly good set of choices at this point.... congradulations. It is not easy to navigate the many choices and opinions one can be faced with when setting out. Enjoy your new gear!

I'd sell some of my own gear back to me and go on a holiday with the proceeds. One gets creative in retirement (secret cash stashes are hard to make happen these days.... and you can't have stuff delivered to work).

Personally, I think the new Pentax primes are/will be quite affordable, given how much time pentax gives us to save for each one.

An el'cheap'o 200 shot..... K SMC 200/4 with el'cheap'o 1.4tc

If there is one thing the "single in challenge" taught me it is that you can "get a result" with any lens.... especially if there is some sort of interest and good light.... even sharpness is down on the list most of the time.

Whilst I can't comment on the 200.... I quite enjoy using long lenses to see scapie things with. However, for me, I reckon a modern zoom in that range would be more useful then just a fixed 200..... lots of things I see are across water, or some light breaks through and hits a tree etc.... fleeting moments that some flexability in reach or framing is advantagous for. The new DFA 70-200 could be worth 12 months more saving for..... (I hike with the DFA 150-450)

Also FWIW.... my Sigma 70-200/2.8 OS HSM does a pretty good job.

Sad to say.... on my last "holiday trip" I took more photos with my phone than with my pentax gear. Mostly because it was just with me...

Even some wild bird shots.... Samsung S8...cropped a fair bit.... tapped to get focus on it's eyes.

For day to day, reflective moment type capture, my phone is good enough that I don't go back to the car to get my DSLR.... for hobby stuff or moments that are going to be special I will always use best available gear.

I'd like to report that I did this update 40% faster then previously. I think I must have benefitted from improved stability for general performance.

I know I've suffered with unstable performance since 1.41.... wife blamed it on retirement and lazy brain.... I blamed pentax.

Got a shot of a Kingfisher feeding on some fish today. The DFA 150-450 seals held up..... amazingly strong glass used on the water tower.
