Friend Nancy in Spain rescued a feral cat and named it Portia, it became a house cat but has never quite become a friendly cat. Quite liked her though.

Heard this Woodpecker this morning and happened to have the Tamron 55BB on my K200D so took a couple of shots before it flew off. Hand holding a mirror lens is not ideal but at least I got a shot of it.

In between the rain showers I saw this, grabbed my K5 and Tamron SP90 and shot a couple before a cabbage white spooked it.
Cropped a bit.

Not quite a Bird in Flight but a bobbin Robin. I seem to only have one young Robin this year and it is keeping to the shadows at the moment but I caught him briefly in the sunlight.

The Starlings and their brood were enjoying a trip round the grass this morning at 6am, later on I managed an image of one sat on the fence displaying some colour in the sun.

Back in 2018 I had a young Robin in the garden with a damaged right leg.
Now in 2020 I have a Robin nesting in the back garden that also has a damaged right leg.
The same Robin, well I like to think so.

Blackbird with missing tail feathers.
Taken with Tamron SP 500 mirror lens and adjusted in windows 10.
One day I will nail focus on a bird hopping around in the garden.

I have been chasing a shy Peacock butterfly around the garden with my 52BB without much luck. I have some Forget-me-nots so will post this instead.

This may be a really stupid suggestion / request but might be a boon for arthritic hands like mine.
Is it possible to remove the green button on the body and replace it with a "G" on the selector dial which then dictates that the camera body then stops the lens down mechanically (as is done by the green button)? Allowing the continuing press of the button to take the image. Obviously this would require a new body from Pentax.
Some customization of ISO / speed may be possible if required.
I have many manual only lenses needing green button metering and my finger and thumbing on my K-5 is not very adept.
My being shot down is not a problem.

Beware the lure of photography!
If you become smitten, there are also millions of Olympus OM (film) camera bodies out there and you might find an OM10 in a charity shop that would allow you to use this lens.
If you are looking for lenses in charity shops for your K1000, M42 mount lenses can be used on your K1000 with an adapter, the Pentax made one being the best, or perhaps 3rd party K mount lenses, just make sure you are familiar with the K mount as some other manufacturer's bayonet mounts look similar.
Should you succumb to buying an OM10, get one with the manual adapter that plugs in to the front of the camera body to enable manual settings.

I won a K500 (cheaper, no seals version of K50) on ebay and was disappointed to find that it had the aperture block failure. Temporarily cured by fitting lithium AA batteries with a cheap battery holder that I bought from China and shooting a burst or two to unlock it before using it in earnest. After the refund given by the seller it became a cheaper and appreciated buy as I can use it in AF after the burst, live view without needing the burst and of course with lenses that have aperture ring using the green button. So niceish body to have.
But I would recommend looking for a K-5 as recommended by previous contributors and the S suffix version if you would appreciate not having the anti aliasing filter that apparently can provide sharper images than the standard K-5. The K-5 is a great body.
My own K-5 is approaching 100K so may be looking for a replacement shortly and at the moment the K-5iis is as appealing as a used K-3 to me though I have bodies from K100D through K200D, K20D Kr and K500D to use anyway.

I have not seen a squirrel much since one decided to try out my humane rat trap, I do not know if this was the one but it is nice to see him or her. Looks like the right ear may have been slightly damaged in the past.

In between storms Ciara and Dennis I saw this lone Starling visiting the garden birdfeeder.
I suspect a little more sunshine may have revealed the full gamut of colour it can show.

You can check out the flash in the forum, just highlight pentax af-500ftz in your original post, right click and search.
The sync you require may not be possible with a body that uses pttl but it will work manually.

Update on my aperture block problem.
Following one of the tips I had been given or found......
I tried purchasing a cheap AA battery holder from China, it arrived today and after fitting new Lithium AA batteries and firing off a string of rapid shots.
RESULT!
The aperture problem has been fixed...….OK I am aware the fix is likely to be temporary but it may last some time at least.
ps I had already tried this with a freshly charged Lithium battery but perhaps the extra voltage of the AA's did the trick.

Bit confused, I did not use standard WD-40 but the electrical contact cleaner they make.
I am not recommending using the cleaner, just pointing out that it seems to have worked for me.

Having recently bought a K-500 (to replace my not quite fully functional K-x) I went out and bought some WD-40 FAST DRYING CONTACT CLEANER and sprayed it in through the small apertures either side of the wheel on my problem K-x, then exercised the wheel.
(My theory being that I was unlikely to break the camera with this cleaner but if I did I had the K-500 to fall back on.
Turns out the K-500 had the aperture block problem but the seller kindly gave me a partial refund.)
After leaving it until the following day I replaced the batteries and checked the operation of the wheel in AV and TV modes. The wheel was still not changing the aperture (in those modes) properly so I gave it a 2nd blast and exercise.
Then a 3rd and 4th, they provided better operation but not perfect.
Today I tried a 5th and it seems to have worked!
So I am now a happy bunny with a fully working K-x and can testify to the contact cleaner working. Time will tell.
